Background / History

Red Mountain Academy

Tang Wulin first appears as a black-haired boy accompanying a middle-aged man into Red Mountain Academy. Hearing his name allows Xu Qing to recognize that he has been reborn in the era of The Legend of the Dragon King 3.

At school, Tang Wulin proudly introduces his Blue Silver Grass as the same Martial Soul possessed by the Tang Sect’s founding ancestor. Other children ridicule his Martial Soul and rank-three Innate Soul Power. When Xu Qing reveals identical awakening results, Tang Wulin approaches him, and the two quickly become friends 6 7.

Tang Wulin also meets Gu Yuena on the street and feels inexplicably drawn to her. She recognizes the Golden Dragon King’s presence within him, but chooses to follow Xu Qing instead. Tang Wulin later asks whether she is safe and learns that she is staying with Xu Qing’s family 9 14.

Before graduation, he obtains a defective Soul Spirit. Although Xu Qing and Gu Yuena’s progress leaves him feeling inferior, he recovers his composure and collects his own recommendation letter. After Wan Yunchao repeatedly challenges and provokes him, Tang Wulin defeats him in a match outside school 39.

Forging Apprenticeship

Tang Wulin studies forging under Mang Tian while attending Red Mountain Academy. When Xu Qing requests an oversized chopping saber, he takes the design to his teacher and explains that Xu Qing possesses strength comparable to his own. This introduction leads Mang Tian to accept Xu Qing as another disciple 19 20 21.

The boys subsequently train together. Tang Wulin observes Mang Tian’s explanation and demonstration of Thousand Refinement, then watches Xu Qing’s first successful attempt. He later completes Thousand Refinement himself, collapsing from exhaustion afterward and being carried home by Tang Ziran 29 30 31 40.

Eastsea Academy and the Blacksmith Association

Soon after arriving at Eastsea Academy, Tang Wulin becomes involved in a dormitory fight after Zhou Changxi and Yun Xiao target him. Xu Qing speaks up for him during the investigation. Long Hengxu recognizes that Tang Wulin acted in self-defense but still requires him to pay for the damaged room 43.

Following Mang Tian’s instructions, Tang Wulin and Xu Qing visit the Blacksmith Association to obtain professional certification and earn money. Both pass the first- and second-rank assessments. Mu Chen later presents their badges, and Cen Yue helps them accept their first missions 44 46 56 57.

Tang Wulin selects a job to Hundred Refine ten pieces of heavenly dragon iron within thirty days. The listed payment is 20,000 Federation coins before the association’s ten-percent brokerage fee 57.

Class Promotion Tournament and Class Zero

Tang Wulin represents Class Five alongside Xie Xie and Zhou Changxi against Class One’s Xu Qing, Zhang Yangzi, and Wang Jinxi. When Wang Jinxi attacks, Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King bloodline manifests, suppressing the Bone Dragon King Martial Soul and transforming his right arm 69.

Xu Qing intervenes before Tang Wulin’s claw strikes Wang Jinxi, then faces Tang Wulin himself. Although the Golden Dragon Claw crushes Xu Qing’s Blue Silver Grass spear, parasitic grass drains Tang Wulin’s Soul Power and repeatedly regrows around him. Unable to escape, he loses when Xu Qing places another spear against his neck. Class Five nevertheless earns promotion to Class Two 70.

Tang Wulin subsequently joins the newly established Class Zero under Wu Changkong. During testing, he records 76 points of Spiritual Power. Wu Changkong also promises to help improve the age of his low-level Soul Spirit 77 78.

Appearance

  • Normal appearance: A handsome boy with black hair and black eyes 3 69.
  • Bloodline activation: His pupils become golden slits, and golden light radiates from his eyes 69.
  • Transformed right arm: Metallic-looking golden scales cover the arm, his fingers lengthen into claws, and the limb becomes noticeably thicker than his left arm 69.

Personality

Tang Wulin is friendly and sincere, taking the initiative to approach Xu Qing over their shared Martial Soul and innate Soul Power. He readily agrees to help arrange Xu Qing’s saber commission and downplays his own contribution afterward. His concern for Gu Yuena’s safety also appears shortly after their first meeting 7 14 19 21.

He works persistently despite discouragement. Xu Qing’s faster cultivation and Gu Yuena’s achievements sometimes provoke envy or inferiority, but he rallies rather than abandoning his training. His forging practice is marked by steady rhythm and deep concentration, qualities that impress the Blacksmith Association’s evaluators 28 29 39 46.

He is modest and sensitive to others’ generosity: praise makes him blush, and he initially refuses the association’s storage ring and communicator because he considers them too valuable. Forging increasingly gives him confidence, a sense of belonging, and a practical means of funding his cultivation 56 57.

Golden Dragon King Bloodline

The Golden Dragon King’s essence continuously nourishes Tang Wulin’s body, giving him exceptional physical strength even before its overt manifestation in battle 15.

  • Draconic suppression: His released aura causes Wang Jinxi’s Bone Dragon King Martial Soul to tremble and makes Wang Jinxi’s Soul Power sluggish 69.
  • Explosive strength: A stomp shatters and caves in the arena’s metal floor before he launches himself forward 69.
  • Golden Dragon Claw: Transforms his right arm into a scaled draconic limb whose crushing effect destroys Xu Qing’s Blue Silver Grass spear 69 70.
  • Demonstrated limitation: Raw strength cannot free him from Xu Qing’s continuously regenerating, Soul Power-draining grass 70.

Tang Wulin is an exceptionally talented apprentice whose strength and concentration support rapid professional growth 20 46.

  • Skillfully Hundred Refines nine kinds of metal while at rank-eight Soul Power 30.
