Xu Qing’s Martial Soul Awakening

Tang Xue and her husband, Xu Yan, were ordinary people without innate Soul Power. She awakened Blue Silver Grass, while he possessed a Black Snake Martial Soul. Their inability to become Soul Masters was one of their greatest regrets, and Tang Xue felt guilty about the limitations their son might inherit 1 3.

She accompanied six-year-old Xu Qing to Red Mountain Academy for his awakening and waited outside the awakening building. Learning that he possessed rank-three innate Soul Power moved her to tears. Her excitement briefly faded when he revealed that he had inherited her Blue Silver Grass, but she accepted his reassurance that simply being able to cultivate was worth celebrating 1 2 3.

Tang Xue later took him to enroll in the academy’s Soul Master class and reminded him to study hard 5 6.

Welcoming Gu Yuena

When Xu Qing brought Gu Yuena home, Tang Xue understood her to be a lost child unable to contact her family. She bathed her, dressed her in Xu Qing’s old clothes, and took her to the administrator to check her identity. Finding no records, she helped register a new identity and agreed with Xu Yan to let her stay while her family was sought 10.

Tang Xue converted the study into a bedroom with fresh bedding and daily necessities. She treated Gu Yuena like her own child, served her extra food after discovering her large appetite, and took her shopping for necessities and girls’ clothes 11 13.

Supporting Xu Qing’s Cultivation

Tang Xue allowed Xu Qing to plant Blue Silver Grass throughout the backyard after he explained that it would improve his cultivation. Her only condition was that he leave her flowers unharmed 14.

She welcomed his breakthrough to rank ten with delight, while Xu Yan questioned how he had progressed so quickly. Later, she waited nearby during his first Soul Spirit fusion, asked whether he had obtained his desired Soul Skill, and prepared a celebratory dinner after learning that he had reached rank twelve 23 26 27.

Xu Qing’s Disappearance and Return

When Xu Qing failed to leave his room, Tang Xue and Xu Yan initially accepted Gu Yuena’s assurance that he was absorbed in cultivation. By late night, they were anxious enough to consider forcing the door open. Gu Yuena stopped them with a fabricated explanation: Xu Qing was refining a medicinal pill supplied by one of her relatives 34.

After his month-long absence from Douluo, Tang Xue tearfully embraced him and asked why he had not warned them. She accepted his explanation that the pill had evolved his Martial Soul and changed his hair and eyes. She cooked a substantial meal for him and later told Xu Yan that their son had finished his seclusion 36 37.

Appearance

Personality

Tang Xue is affectionate and sensitive to her son’s prospects. Her guilt before his awakening stems from knowing the weakness of her own Martial Soul, not from dissatisfaction with him. Although initially disheartened by his Blue Silver Grass, she responds to his optimism and chooses to celebrate his opportunity to become a Soul Master 1 3.

Her care for Gu Yuena is practical as well as affectionate: she arranges identification, clothing, meals, and a comfortable room. When Gu Yuena claims to have found her relatives, Tang Xue is happy for her but also reluctant to see her leave 10 11 13 34.

• Xu Qing — Her son, whom she affectionately calls “Xiao Qing.” Concern for his parents helps dissuade him from pursuing the path of an Evil Soul Master or taking risks that could endanger them 1 6 9.
