Background / History

Before arriving on Douluo Continent, Xu Qing was an ordinary modern office worker who had built a modified Wuthering Waves private server. He altered its story into a romance-focused game and maximized Xin’s affection. While playing, he was swallowed by a dark hole, passed through a tunnel, and arrived in Nuoding City with his body reduced to a child’s 1 2 8 13.

He spent three years struggling to survive. At his lowest point, he fought stray dogs for food, wore inadequate clothing, and endured sleepless winter nights. He eventually constructed a small wooden cabin on the city’s outskirts 2.

After his Martial Soul awakening, he recognized the interface accompanying Cards as the private-server interface he had created. Xin’s arrival revealed that characters from that server could now exist as independent people rather than editable game data 1 8.

Appearance

• Hair and eyes: Black hair and golden eyes 1.

Personality

Xu Qing initially favors caution and independence. He intends to avoid Tang San’s circle rather than expose himself to Tang Hao’s surveillance, and he refuses to attack Tang Hao merely because he dislikes him. He likewise abandons the idea of selling Flender because Flender has not provoked him 1 5 7.

That restraint coexists with a vindictive response to direct hostility. After Yu Xiaogang attempts to impose himself as Xu Qing’s teacher and attacks his household, Xu Qing has him subdued, plans to throw him into a cesspit, and ultimately sells him to Brother Scar while anticipating that he will suffer in the buyers’ hands 4 5.

Xin’s devotion changes his attitude toward cultivation. Once he recognizes her as a real person whose feelings he wants to protect, strength becomes a responsibility rather than simply a means of survival. He later practices swordsmanship before dawn, studies calligraphy under Qingxiao, and replaces sleep with cultivation 8 21.

He is affectionate toward his companions but pushes back against their possessiveness. He reassures Aemeath, insists that Xin look after her own meals, and objects when either woman tries to monopolize or excessively manage him 4 15 17 20.

Awakening and Life with Xin

After receiving a Spirit Hall certificate from Su Yuntao, Xu Qing plans to obtain formal cultivation instruction while avoiding Tang San’s circle. Contracting Xin changes those plans: she supplies cultivation manuals, rebuilds his cabin into a luxurious residence, and prepares food that improves his physical condition and recovery 1 2 3.

Yu Xiaogang subsequently arrives, wrongly identifies him as a twin-Martial-Soul wielder, and demands to become his teacher. Xu Qing rejects him. When Yu Xiaogang attacks, Xin knocks him unconscious; Xu Qing then sells him and Luo Sanpao to Brother Scar’s group for five thousand Gold Soul Coins 4 5.

Exploration and the Star Dou Great Forest

Xu Qing cultivates in the mornings and searches Nuoding City for chests in the afternoons before traveling southeast with Xin. Near the Star Dou Great Forest, acknowledging the depth of her feelings triggers his sword-intent awakening 7 8.

The pair secretly observe Yu Xiaogang, Flender, and Tang San’s Soul Ring hunt. After witnessing the Cave Demon Spider incident and Yu Xiaogang’s treatment, Xu Qing suspends treasure hunting to pursue the immortal herbs at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 8 9 10.

The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

Xin defeats Dugu Bo, and Xu Qing chooses to spare him. She then refines the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Pill, allowing Xu Qing to undergo painful bodily refinement in the spring. During this process, he contracts Qingxiao and Aemeath and emerges at level 39 with three black rings 11 12 14 15 16.

Xu Qing selects the well as his cultivation base and proposes growing spiritual plants for food and training. Xin constructs a town, while Dugu Bo enters his service under the promised poison-treatment arrangement 17 18 19 21.

Heaven Dou City and Aemeath Academy

Dugu Bo’s deference draws Qian Renxue’s attention. Over breakfast, Xu Qing openly identifies Dugu Bo as his subordinate rather than indulging her indirect questioning. She subsequently orders an investigation into his origins and Spirit Hall awakening records 22 23 24.

Xu Qing backs Aemeath’s decision to seize and rename Heaven Dou Royal Academy. When Qian Renxue objects on the imperial family’s behalf, he dismisses the objection; Aemeath and Xin’s threatening presence ultimately forces her to concede 25.
