Old Turtle, Get Lost if You Have No Money
"I heard there are Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts deep in the Star Dou Great Forest."
"We couldn't possibly run into one, could we?"
"Even if we did, we should be fine."
"That's a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. One breath from it would kill us."
Inside an inn outside the Star Dou Great Forest, the Shrek group sat chatting.
After over a month of cultivation, with Chu Feng's help, Tang San, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing had all reached rank 30 in Soul Power.
Zhao Wuji had therefore led them to the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain Soul Rings.
Originally, Chu Feng had wanted to lead the team himself.
But Zhao Wuji couldn't rest easy about them.
"Hey, someone's here."
Chu Feng looked over. It was the group from Canghui Academy from the original plot.
"Why did it have to be them? Looks like we'll be fighting this time," Dai Mubai said, folding his arms.
Tang San looked toward Canghui Academy in confusion. "Why would we fight?"
Oscar lowered his voice. "We don't get along with Canghui Academy. We've had plenty of disputes over student recruitment these past few years."
"But there's no rush to fight."
"Our academy now follows the principle of not starting trouble, but not fearing it either."
As Oscar spoke, he handed out sausages.
Tang San understood. Over the past month or so, he had also learned that Shrek Academy's circumstances weren't actually very good.
It was a thorn in the side of the kingdom's other noble academies.
Only Flender and Zhao Wuji's strength, along with the laws of the Heaven Dou Empire, had kept them from making an overt move.
Now that the two academies had run into each other in such a small inn, the chances of a fight really were high.
The eight people from Canghui Academy also spotted the Shrek group, and their expressions turned very ugly.
Canghui Academy's Ye Zhiqiu murmured a few words to the young man beside him.
The young man immediately called over the innkeeper and spoke quietly with him.
The innkeeper glanced toward Chu Feng and the others from time to time, looking troubled.
Only after the young man handed him a small pouch of money did the innkeeper grit his teeth and nod.
"My apologies, everyone. Those Lords Soul Masters over there intend to book the entire inn."
"I hope you'll oblige them. There will be no charge for your food."
The innkeeper walked over with a smile.
Seeing the other party dressed in Canghui Academy uniforms, he had recognized them as Soul Masters from an advanced Soul Master Academy.
Soul Masters like that weren't people he could afford to offend.
Besides, Canghui Academy had given him ten Gold Soul Coins.
Chu Feng and his companions, by contrast, were casually dressed and didn't look like anyone formidable.
Chu Feng held back Ma Hongjun, who was about to explode, took a bag of Gold Soul Coins from his spatial storage container, and tossed it onto Canghui Academy's table.
Gold Soul Coins spilled from the bag, giving off a dazzling golden gleam.
"One thousand Gold Soul Coins. We're booking this inn."
"Is that enough?"
With that, he took out another thousand Gold Soul Coins.
"Is that enough!"
Seeing so many Gold Soul Coins, the innkeeper's eyes shone with the same light.
He rubbed his hands together and put on the brightest smile of his life.
"Enough, enough! Gentlemen, this inn is all yours."
Two thousand Gold Soul Coins would have been enough to buy his inn outright.
"That's more like it. This is enough money to get people to do things."
"Unlike some paupers, slapping their faces swollen to look fat. Offering that paltry bit of money-are you tossing alms to beggars?"
Chu Feng spoke in an even tone.
When it came to money, he had never been afraid of anyone.
Ye Zhiqiu's aged face darkened, and he turned to glare at the young man.
How did you manage to botch this?
The young man's eyes filled with anger and jealousy. Why did this little brat get to have so much money?
"What do you mean by that?" Unable to hold back, the young man stood up and shouted.
Ma Hongjun had already been bottling up a bellyful of anger. He slapped the table and rose with the motion, his Soul Power erupting outright.
"The boss means you're all a bunch of paupers!"
"What, not happy about it? Then cough up two thousand Gold Soul Coins yourselves."
Those words instantly seemed to lodge in the young man's throat.
The other Canghui Academy students lowered their heads, not daring to speak.
They couldn't produce two thousand Gold Soul Coins.
Ye Zhiqiu's aged face twitched. He sighed and stood up.
"Little child, don't take such an aggressive tone."
"Even if you have money, you still need to live to spend it!"
Black ripples spread from Ye Zhiqiu's body, forcing Ma Hongjun's imposing presence back.
Immediately afterward, the Black Tortoise Martial Soul appeared behind Ye Zhiqiu, and Soul Rings rose around him.
Seeing that he was a Soul King, Tang San and the others' expressions shifted slightly.
Tap, tap, tap!
Chu Feng tapped lightly on the table and spoke calmly. "My money can buy your turtle life."
"Take a guess. How much would it cost to hire a Soul Douluo to kill you?"
"I can still afford a million Gold Soul Coins."
"Fine, fine, fine! Buy my life!" Ye Zhiqiu could no longer suppress the fire in his heart.
Calling his Martial Soul a turtle was taboo to him.
Ye Zhiqiu walked slowly toward Chu Feng and extended his hand, which had transformed into a tortoise claw, intending to slap Chu Feng across the face.
Watching Ye Zhiqiu approach, Chu Feng unhurriedly took out three badges.
"Tang San, Zhu Zhuqing, Dai Mubai, fuse."
An ink-black giant tiger Martial Soul appeared behind Chu Feng.
The giant tiger had a powerful build and slender limbs like a spirit cat's, with blue-green Blue Silver Grass patterns on its fur.
"First Soul Skill: Vine Prison Entangling Kill!"
Blue Silver Grass burst through the wooden floor beneath them and wrapped around Ye Zhiqiu's feet. Sharp claw blades like those of a Hell Spirit Cat grew from the vine tips and slashed at his feet.
The Blue Silver Grass now possessed agility-attack attributes. Ye Zhiqiu failed to dodge in time and took the claw-blade attack squarely.
Fortunately, his Martial Soul was a Black Tortoise, renowned for its defense.
The claw blades only pierced his skin rather than tearing open large wounds.
But that was enough.
Tang San's Blue Silver Grass carried poison and a numbing effect.
Ye Zhiqiu immediately realized something was wrong with his legs, leaving him unable to move normally.
"It's poisonous!"
"Detoxify me, now!" Ye Zhiqiu shouted to his students. Presumably, there was a healing-type Soul Master among them.
"Sorry, but they're not available," Dai Mubai's voice rang out.
Ye Zhiqiu turned to look and discovered that his students had already been subdued by Dai Mubai and the others.
The young man from earlier even had a bruise on his face.
"Old geezer, we're not done yet."
"Second Soul Skill: Thousand Vine Nether Claws." Chu Feng continued directing the Blue Silver Grass to shoot out countless seeds, which scattered around Ye Zhiqiu.
He raised his hand and gently closed it. The seeds immediately exploded, turning into hundreds upon thousands of pitch-black claw shadows that bombarded the turtle shell.
Ye Zhiqiu gritted his teeth and resisted, but cracks began to appear in the turtle shell.
By now, regret had already crept into his heart.
Where did this little freak come from?
Strength like this at his age?
If you're this strong, say so sooner! It's not as though this old man wouldn't back down.
Now, even if he wanted to beg for mercy, he could no longer get the words out.
"Third Soul Skill: Devouring Prison Fang Shatter."
As his words fell, the Blue Silver Grass seized Ye Zhiqiu's legs tightly, restricting his movements.
The ink-black giant tiger behind him extended its claws, all the power of the White Tiger Fierce Light Wave compressed to its limit and contained within them.
The enormous tiger-cat pounced down, driving a claw toward Ye Zhiqiu's chest.
"Pfft!"
The cracked turtle shell was broken straight through. The sharp claws continued their assault without slowing and pierced Ye Zhiqiu's body.
Ye Zhiqiu gave a muffled groan and flew backward, crashing through the inn's wooden wall.
He slammed heavily onto the ground outside the inn, the Soul Power around his body dispersing.
