Background / History

Flight from the Star Luo Empire

Dai Mubai is the younger brother of Dai Weisi and Dai Fei, and the third prince of the Star Luo Empire. After Dai Weisi poisoned Dai Fei, Mubai fled alone to the Heaven Dou Empire, fearing that he would also be poisoned. He had personally witnessed Dai Fei's burial and believed him dead 2 14 15.

His departure left him without support among Dai Weisi's court faction. Those supporters dismissed him as a coward and contemplated killing him if he returned, potentially through poisoning 5.

Dai Fei's Ambush

While attending Shrek Academy, Mubai befriended Ma Hongjun. The two visited a brothel in Suotuo City and were returning to the academy when a masked Dai Fei ambushed them. Mubai's defensive barrier failed against the attacker's Geng Metal Qi 14.

Mubai intervened when Dai Fei threatened Ma Hongjun, placing himself between them and counterattacking with White Tiger Fierce Light Wave. Dai Fei blocked the attack, punched him into a tree, and subsequently revealed his identity 15.

Shocked by his brother's survival, Mubai apologized for fleeing. He argued that remaining in Star Luo would have meant death for both of them and urged Dai Fei to abandon the succession struggle in favor of a peaceful life in Heaven Dou. Dai Fei refused, declared his intention to seize the throne, and threatened both brothers 15.

Dai Fei deliberately spared Mubai to stimulate his cultivation, intending to harvest more Slaughter Qi from him once he became stronger. Unaware of that purpose, Mubai resolved to train urgently. He offered Ma Hongjun cultivation resources as compensation for his injuries and helped him return to the academy 15.

Training and the Wanted Notice

Following the ambush, Mubai trained intensely and achieved a marked improvement in combat strength. During a Soul Arena appearance in Heaven Dou City, his White Tiger Martial Soul suppressed his opponents and drew cheers from the audience 21.

Afterward, he and Ma Hongjun discovered a wanted notice describing a young White Tiger Soul Master who had massacred a baron's household and killed the Soul Emperor Black Eagle. Despite the inaccurate portrait, Mubai identified the suspect as probably Dai Fei. Troubled by his brother's actions and the widening gap between their strengths, he reaffirmed that becoming stronger was his immediate priority and left to return to the academy 22.

Mubai initially prioritizes survival over the imperial succession. He considers the Star Luo royal family dangerously ruthless and wants no further involvement in its struggle for the throne. When Dai Fei returns, he attempts reconciliation rather than challenging his claim 2 15.

He enjoys leisure with Ma Hongjun, including visiting brothels, but also insists on returning to the academy because they have classes the next day. He describes such outings as relief from the pressure of daily cultivation 14.

Despite his fear of his brothers, Mubai acts decisively to protect Ma Hongjun during the ambush. His defeat subsequently drives him toward sustained training rather than continued avoidance 15 21.
