Background / History

Family and Conflict with Bibi Dong

Qian Daoliu raised and taught Qian Renxue from childhood. She later left Spirit City to infiltrate the Heaven Dou imperial family, eventually replacing its eldest prince, Xue Qinghe 3.

He once felt guilty toward Bibi Dong, but that sympathy changed after she poisoned his son, Qian Xunji, to death. He refrained from acting against her because of his concern for Qian Renxue and his apprehension about Bibi Dong inheriting a divine position 7.

The Wish for Spirit Hall’s Eternity

After Golden Crocodile Douluo investigated Xu Nuo’s Wishing Divine Lamp for three months, Qian Daoliu reviewed three fulfilled wishes. Their outcomes involved severe cultivation injuries, a murderous Evil Soul Master experiment, and a romance scam. He concluded that the lamp genuinely granted wishes, but that more difficult wishes demanded greater prices 1.

Despite those risks, he summoned Xu Nuo, identified his Martial Soul as an extremely rare Fate Attribute ability, and offered to teach him personally. He then used the lamp to wish for Spirit Hall to endure forever, accepting whatever price its fulfillment might require 1 2.

Qian Renxue’s Return

Shortly after the wish, Qian Renxue unexpectedly returned to Spirit City. She and both of her escorts temporarily lost control of their bodies during flight, causing her to crash into Xu Nuo’s villa 2 3.

Qian Daoliu suspected that this coincidence was fate arranging a meeting between his granddaughter and Xu Nuo. He consequently began to regard Xu Nuo as a possible key to Spirit Hall’s eternal survival and encouraged the two to become closer. This remained his interpretation rather than a confirmed explanation of the accident 3 4.

Recovering Xu Nuo

When Xu Nuo disappeared the following morning, Qian Daoliu ordered a search of Spirit City. Finding Bibi Dong’s supposed seclusion chamber empty, he deduced that she had taken the boy to Yu Xiaogang in Nuoding City. He flew there, confronted her, and insisted on taking Xu Nuo back 7.

Xu Nuo subsequently asked to attend Nuoding Academy, claiming that his Martial Soul had sensed an opportunity to grow stronger there. Qian Daoliu accepted the explanation but first returned him to Spirit City, then entrusted his protection and escort to Golden Crocodile Douluo 8.

He concealed Yu Xiaogang’s involvement from Qian Renxue and discouraged further discussion of her mother’s actions. Before Qian Renxue resumed her undercover assignment, he encouraged her to spend time showing Xu Nuo around Spirit City 8.

Personality

Qian Daoliu places Spirit Hall’s survival above his own safety. Although the lamp’s earlier results alarm him, he willingly makes an exceptionally ambitious wish and accepts its unknown cost. His belief in Xu Nuo’s importance also makes him attentive to opportunities that could strengthen the boy 1 2 8.

He is affectionate toward Qian Renxue and adopts a grandfatherly manner with Xu Nuo. His generosity includes housing, substantial funds, cultivation support, and direct access to his authority. That warmth becomes anger when Xu Nuo is abducted, prompting him to investigate personally and confront Bibi Dong 2 3 7.
