Background / History
Previous Life and Family
Tang San was a Tang Sect assassin in his previous life and retains proficiency in the Tang Sect Secret Arts. His experience gives him a decisive advantage over ordinary students when he enters Nuoding Academy 9.
His parents are Tang Hao and Ah Yin, a hundred-thousand-year soul beast who sacrificed herself to Tang Hao. Tang San inherits the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, though he initially knows neither his mother’s circumstances nor the full history of his family’s conflict with Spirit Hall 8 17 18.
Enrollment at Nuoding Academy
Tang San takes Yu Xiaogang as his teacher after Yu identifies his Innate Full Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls from his Martial Soul certificate. He quickly comes to regard his teacher’s knowledge and concern as extraordinary 9.
Upon entering Dorm Seven, Tang San defeats Wang Sheng, who offers him leadership of the dormitory. Tang San does not want the position. Xiao Wu then challenges and defeats him, becoming Dorm Seven’s “big sister.” Teacher Mo Hen subsequently assigns Tang San and Xiao Wu their work-study duties 9.
The Wish and the Stink Bug Soul Ring
After witnessing Xiao Wu use Xu Nuo’s Wishing Divine Lamp, Tang San considers using it to overcome his cultivation bottleneck. He trades his self-made Sleeve Arrow for the month’s final available wish, accepting Xu Nuo’s warning that fulfillment may differ from his expectations 10 11.
Tang San wishes for the Mysterious Heaven Skill to break through its first level immediately, but initially experiences no change. Yu Xiaogang arranges to take him to the Soul Hunting Forest the next morning, leaving Tang San worried that his payment will have been wasted if ordinary Soul Ring absorption produces the same breakthrough 12.
That evening, Tang San wanders to the mountain behind the academy and unsuccessfully attempts to cultivate. When he gets up, he crushes a ten-year stink bug. His internal power suddenly runs out of control, his Blue Silver Grass manifests involuntarily, and he absorbs the resulting white Soul Ring. The Mysterious Heaven Skill immediately advances to its second level 12.
Horrified by the poor-quality ring, Tang San concludes that Xu Nuo caused the incident through the wish. He returns to the dormitory smelling of the crushed insect and is embarrassed when Xiao Wu and the other students complain. The next morning, he reveals the ring to a stunned Yu Xiaogang instead of departing for their planned hunt 13.
Yu Xiaogang later suggests having another person make a wish and bear its cost. Tang San begins considering whether this approach could replace his first Soul Skill. Despite his compromised first ring, his Tang Sect techniques remain strong enough for him and Xiao Wu to help Dorm Seven win its wagered confrontation with Xiao Chenyu’s group 14 15.
Family Revelations and Tang Hao’s Rescue
When Tang Hao’s hidden injuries erupt after his own wish, he takes Tang San from the academy and flies toward Ah Yin’s hidden chamber. During the journey, he explains their family’s feud with Spirit Hall. Tang San accepts his account without doubt and vows vengeance against both Spirit Hall and Xu Nuo 17.
Tang Hao’s account conceals his own responsibility: the narration reveals that he deliberately exposed Ah Yin’s identity to Spirit Hall to obtain her sacrifice, whereas he tells Tang San that her discovery was accidental 17.
Inside the chamber, Tang San meets his mother as a Blue Silver Emperor seedling. When Tang Hao collapses near death, Ah Yin writes instructions in the soil explaining how to save him. Tang San locates her hundred-thousand-year right leg Soul Bone using the Purple Demon Eye 18.
Following Ah Yin’s directions, Tang San reluctantly amputates Tang Hao’s lower right leg to remove its existing Soul Bone. He then places Ah Yin’s bone against the wound and realigns the severed limb. With Ah Yin’s assistance, the new bone fuses, restores the leg, and heals Tang Hao’s hidden injuries 18.
Tang San is subsequently bewildered when Tang Hao discovers that the newly fused hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone has disappeared. Tang Hao suspects its disappearance is the price of his wish 19.
Personality
Tang San places exceptional trust in parental and teacher authority. He treats Yu Xiaogang’s care as comparable to a parent’s and becomes hostile toward Xu Nuo merely upon hearing that Xu refused to become Yu’s disciple. He likewise accepts Tang Hao’s version of the family’s history without questioning it 9 17.
His hostility toward Xu Nuo grows into repeated death threats after the stink bug incident. Although convinced that Xu deliberately harmed him, Tang San restrains himself while at the academy, partly because Xu’s wish-granting ability may still be useful. His attraction to Xiao Wu adds jealousy to this resentment when she repeatedly chooses Xu Nuo’s company 13 14 16.
Tang San’s devotion to his father overrides his desire for valuable cultivation resources. When Tang Hao discusses leaving him Soul Bones, Tang San insists that he wants his father to live instead. He ultimately performs the amputation needed to save Tang Hao despite regarding the act as deeply unfilial 18.
Abilities & Skills

- Blue Silver Grass: Receives Tang San’s first Soul Ring, a white ten-year ring from a stink bug 12 13.
- Clear Sky Hammer: His second Martial Soul. Tang Hao regards it as his remaining route to becoming a peerless powerhouse after the disappointing first ring 13.
- Blue Silver Emperor bloodline: A valuable inherited trait coveted by Xu Nuo; no awakening of it is documented in these chapters 8 16.
