Background / History
Recruitment by the Worship Hall
After discovering that he could retain part of a wish’s rewards and costs, Xu Nuo reported his Martial Soul’s wish-granting ability in hopes of benefiting from it. Qian Daoliu identified the Wishing Divine Lamp as a rare Fate Attribute Martial Soul and offered to teach him personally 1.
Qian Daoliu wished for Spirit Hall to endure forever, then provided Xu Nuo with villa No. 205, money, a storage pouch, a Worship Hall token, and promised cultivation support. That night, Qian Renxue unexpectedly lost control while flying and crashed into Xu Nuo’s room. Xu Nuo gave her a blanket and pretended not to recognize her. Qian Daoliu suspected that fate had arranged their meeting because Xu Nuo might be essential to Spirit Hall’s future 2 3.
Abduction and Enrollment at Nuoding Academy
Bibi Dong abducted Xu Nuo to help Yu Xiaogang improve his Martial Soul. Xu Nuo agreed to grant Yu Xiaogang’s wish after realizing that the transaction might yield Luo Sanpao’s Golden Sacred Dragon Origin. When Yu Xiaogang wished to reach level thirty, Xu Nuo obtained that origin along with a large reserve of medicinal power 4 5 6.
Qian Daoliu tracked them to Nuoding City and retrieved Xu Nuo. Rather than leave permanently, Xu Nuo claimed that his Martial Soul had sensed an opportunity to grow stronger at Nuoding Academy. His actual motive was to obtain valuable resources from the soon-to-arrive Xiao Wu and Tang San. Qian Daoliu approved his enrollment and assigned Golden Crocodile Douluo to protect him 7 8.
After spending two days touring Spirit City with Qian Renxue, Xu Nuo entered Nuoding Academy as a work-study student to conceal his privileged affiliation. Ma Xiunuo handled his enrollment, while Golden Crocodile Douluo guarded him from the shadows. Xu Nuo joined Dorm Seven and avoided its leadership contest by explaining that his support-type Martial Soul lacked fighting power 8 9.
The Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s Sacrifice
During his second Soul Ring hunt, Xu Nuo encountered the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, who had followed a familiar power of fate to his camp. He offered to preserve her intelligence and existence after sacrifice and take her to experience the human world 20 21.
When persuasion did not secure her agreement, Xu Nuo threatened to kill the defeated Scarlet King. She accepted on the conditions that Scarlet King be spared and that Xu Nuo take her on future outings. After wishing to retain her existence and eventually become a god alongside him, she sacrificed herself. Rather than merely remaining within his Soul Ring, she merged with the Golden Sacred Dragon Origin and became his living Second Martial Soul, whom he named Xu Qiu’er 22 23.
The disappearance of the Emperor Auspicious Beast’s blessing brought Di Tian and other Ferocious Beasts to the camp. Golden Crocodile Douluo protected Xu Nuo and warned that attacking them would provoke Qian Daoliu, the Angel God’s High Priest. Di Tian hesitated because divine attention could expose the injured, sleeping lord hidden in the forest’s core 24.
Appearance
- Youthful features: Described as handsome and cute, with a fair face 3 8.
- Fine clothing: His splendid clothes cause Nuoding Academy’s gatekeeper to treat him respectfully and make Dorm Seven’s students question whether he is really a work-study student 8 9.
- Changes after Soul Bone fusion: The Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone makes his skin fairer and more lustrous and further improves his appearance 19.
Personality
Xu Nuo is calculating and strongly motivated by personal gain. He chooses wish-makers partly for the resources their wishes might yield, conceals the lamp’s true usage limit to protect his free time, and stays at Nuoding Academy specifically to obtain valuable origins and techniques. He frequently adopts an innocent or confused expression while privately celebrating his gains 5 8 10 16.
He is cautious around powerful people. He worries that an unfavorable wish could make Qian Daoliu kill him, fears Bibi Dong’s intentions after his abduction, and initially considers whether Tang Hao has summoned him to attack him. He also avoids unnecessary fights before obtaining combat-capable Soul Skills 1 4 9 16.
His social manner is affectionate and generous: he addresses Qian Daoliu as “Grandpa Qian,” attentively looks after Qian Renxue during their outings, and treats Dorm Seven to an expensive meal. He enjoys good food, shopping, and comfortable accommodations. His treatment of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion also shows a coercive side, as he uses Scarlet King’s life to secure her sacrifice 2 8 11 14 16 22.
Abilities & Skills
Wishing Divine Lamp
A Fate Attribute Martial Soul that manifests as a golden lamp decorated with intricate patterns and sapphires. It fulfills wishes by influencing reality through fate and coincidences rather than simply creating things from nothing 1 5 11.
- Activation: The wish-maker rubs the lamp three times, then silently makes a wish 1.
- Actual limit: Each person can make one wish per month. Xu Nuo’s earlier claim that the lamp could grant only one wish monthly was a deliberate lie; he later tells the students that it allows three wishes per month 5 10.
- Costs: A fulfilled wish may carry severe losses or an outcome different from what the wish-maker expected 6 11 12 19.
- Collection of payment: Xu Nuo can retain a portion of a wish’s rewards and costs. Collected origins, medicinal power, and Soul Bones can appear inside the lamp 1 6 10 19.
- Timing and knowledge: Wishes do not always resolve immediately, and Xu Nuo does not automatically know what someone wished for 12 16.
- Control: Xu Nuo tells Tang San that he cannot control the specific influence through which the lamp fulfills a wish 11.
Documented Wishes
| Wish-maker | Wish | Outcome / Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Qian Daoliu | Spirit Hall’s eternal survival | Qian Renxue’s subsequent crash into Xu Nuo’s villa leads Qian Daoliu to suspect that fate is connecting them. The wish’s ultimate fulfillment remains unconfirmed 2 3. |
| Yu Xiaogang | Immediately reach level thirty | Breaks his bottleneck, but Luo Sanpao becomes a normal purple-pig Beast Martial Soul. Xu Nuo receives its Golden Sacred Dragon Origin and Yu Xiaogang’s remaining stored medicinal power 5 6. |
| Xiao Wu | Conceal her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast identity, even from a Titled Douluo | Her wish succeeds at the cost of her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit Origin, which enters Xu Nuo’s lamp 10. |
| Tang San | Break through the first level of the Mysterious Heaven Skill | Accidentally absorbs a ten-year Stink Bug Soul Ring, advancing the technique to its second level. Xu Nuo receives none of the techniques or bloodline he had hoped to obtain 12 13. |
| Tang Hao | Heal his hidden injuries and return to his former peak | His injuries flare up before Ah Yin’s Hundred-Thousand-Year Right Leg Bone heals him. The bone then disappears into Xu Nuo’s lamp, leaving Tang Hao limping 16 17 18 19. |
| Three-Eyed Golden Lion | Retain her intelligence and existence after sacrifice and become a god with Xu Nuo | Survives as Xu Qiu’er, his living Second Martial Soul. Their future godhood is not established 22 23. |
Soul Ring Modification
The Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit Origin allows Xu Nuo to construct or modify a Soul Ring and choose from its associated Soul Skills 10 13.
- Can form a lower-aged ring first and gradually upgrade it rather than immediately becoming a Hundred-Thousand-Year ring 13.
- Can be layered over an existing ring; Xu Nuo uses it on the Golden Dragon Turtle’s Hundred-Year ring 13.
- Lets him select Invincible Golden Body instead of accepting only the hunted beast’s original skill 13 14.
Invincible Golden Body
His first Soul Skill, obtained through the modified Golden Dragon Turtle ring 13 14.
- Grants three seconds of absolute defense against attacks below the divine level 14.
- Doubles all aspects of his physical ability and triples his defense for half an hour 14.
- Divine-level attacks can break its absolute defense 14.
Fortune Absorption
His second Soul Skill, gained from the Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s sacrifice 22 23.
- Actively absorbs another person’s fortune, potentially reducing them to a state of persistent bad luck 23.
- Stores the stolen fortune inside the Wishing Divine Lamp for later use 23.
- Consumes stored fortune to bless Xu Nuo, potentially causing enemies to make mistakes, helping him discover treasures, or turning danger into safety 23.
- Unlike a lamp wish, this fortune blessing requires no corresponding payment beyond the consumed fortune 23.
Fate Judgment
The ability of his Three-Eyed Golden Lion Vertical Eye, an External Soul Bone fused between his brows 22 23.
- Blesses a designated target with luck and improves their combat condition 23.
- Can instead impose misfortune and selected negative states on a target 23.
- At his current cultivation, hostile effects are limited in severity and last only briefly; their strength can improve with his cultivation 23.
Xu Qiu’er
His Second Martial Soul is a young golden dragon formed from the Three-Eyed Golden Lion’s soul and the Golden Sacred Dragon Origin 22 23.
- Retains her intelligence, speech, and individual identity 23.
- Can be summoned in physical form and converse with others, including Scarlet King 23.
