Background / History
Tang Hao was celebrated as the Clear Sky Sect’s outstanding genius, considered its best prospect in a century to surpass his grandfather, Tang Chen. Determined to restore the sect’s prestige, he cultivated intensely and sought to break Qian Xunji’s record as the youngest Titled Douluo 17.
During his travels with his elder brother, Tang Xiao, both brothers fell in love with Ah Yin. Tang Hao won her affection and learned that she was a hundred-thousand-year soul beast in human form. Seeking a hundred-thousand-year ninth Soul Ring, he deliberately arranged for Spirit Hall’s experts to discover her identity. During the resulting pursuit, Ah Yin sacrificed herself to him, enabling his breakthrough at forty-four 17.
Tang Hao subsequently killed Qian Xunji unintentionally. Spirit Hall retaliated against the Clear Sky Sect, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing it to seal its mountain and withdraw from worldly affairs. Tang Hao’s father died from anger over the disaster 17.
Ah Yin survived her sacrifice as a seed. Tang Hao planted her in a stone chamber behind a waterfall in a secluded mountain valley. He also kept the hundred-thousand-year soul bone she left behind in a lead box within that chamber 18.
Appearance
Tang Hao is a tall, powerfully built middle-aged man with disheveled hair and a sallow complexion 16.
- Clothing: A long black robe and hood, worn while secretly watching over Tang San 11 15.
- Distinguishing condition: Walks with a limp after losing the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone, despite the regeneration of his right leg 19.
Personality
Tang Hao places great importance on cultivation, family revenge, and the Clear Sky Sect’s standing. His concern for Tang San’s future is tied to the hope that his son will become powerful enough to avenge their family and sect. After Tang San acquires an unsuitable first Soul Ring, Tang Hao restrains his anger by reminding himself that his son still possesses the Clear Sky Hammer 13.
His ambition coexists with guilt and manipulation. He regrets the consequences of his actions toward Ah Yin and the sect, yet conceals his responsibility when recounting the past to Tang San. He also views Xiao Wu’s friendship with his son as a possible route to obtaining her willing sacrifice 11 17.
Tang Hao is quick to anger when events undermine his plans. Although he recognizes that his healing wish ultimately succeeded, he refuses to accept the loss of Ah Yin’s soul bone as its price and threatens to kill Xu Nuo 19.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Secretly Protecting Tang San
Tang Hao watches Dorm Seven from concealment and discovers both Xiao Wu’s identity and the Wishing Divine Lamp’s existence. He briefly considers whether wishes could revive his father and fallen sect members, but concludes that such requests would likely exceed Xu Nuo’s current cultivation. He instead decides to seek treatment for his hidden injuries 11.
He witnesses Tang San accidentally absorb a ten-year stink bug Soul Ring. After learning that the incident followed a wish, Tang Hao partly blames Xu Nuo but also faults Tang San for not specifying a suitable Soul Ring. He waits for the lamp’s monthly wishes to reset before approaching Yu Xiaogang 12 13 15.
The Healing Wish
Yu Xiaogang brings Xu Nuo to a private meeting without revealing Tang Hao’s identity. Tang Hao wishes for his hidden injuries to heal quickly so that he can return to his former peak. Nothing happens immediately, and Xu Nuo explains that fulfillment may take time 16.
Tang Hao leaves for Ah Yin’s valley. During the journey, painful memories trigger a catastrophic eruption of his injuries. Believing he has little time left, he retrieves Tang San and recounts the family’s feud with Spirit Hall—but falsely presents Ah Yin’s exposure as an accident rather than his own scheme 17.
Rescue and the Wish’s Price
After reaching Ah Yin’s chamber, Tang Hao gives Tang San his final instructions and collapses. Following Ah Yin’s written directions, Tang San removes his father’s lower right leg, extracts its existing Soul Bone, and replaces it with the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. Ah Yin assists the fusion, restoring the leg and healing Tang Hao’s hidden injuries 18.
Tang Hao awakens to discover that the new bone has disappeared. He recognizes that his wish was fulfilled but suspects the bone was taken as payment. When he tries to leave to confront Xu Nuo, he discovers his limp. Meanwhile, the missing bone appears inside Xu Nuo’s lamp and becomes Xu Nuo’s own cultivation resource 19.
