Let's Run Away
Kael'thas decided to lie in wait there for a while longer.
He reasoned that if one group of Troll rogues had intended to pass through here, the remaining Trolls would likely choose the same route.
He explained this to his teammates, and they agreed.
So they cleared the battlefield and, after making sure no signs of the fight could be seen from below, the group lay in ambush once more.
They remained in ambush until the afternoon, and it was nearly dusk before their patience finally paid off.
"Ding..."
"You have received the quest: Eliminate the Trolls!"
After the familiar sound of climbing, Solarian and the male mage were the first to attack this time.
"Blizzard!!"
The two shouted, raising both hands to channel their magic. At once, a vast number of ice shards rained down from the sky onto the target area, pelting the ground with a clatter and radiating a piercing chill as they blasted another group of Trolls into view.
Six rogues appeared this time. The cold slowed their movement, so, like the previous group, they used Sprint the moment they appeared and fled in all directions!
But Kael'thas and the others were already prepared and waiting for them!
"Charge!!"
Audilon led the way, charging straight at a Troll like a ferocious beast! His sword struck at the Troll's body without hesitation. Though the Troll blocked it with a dagger just in time, the dagger could not withstand the force of the charge and flew from his hand.
"Haha!"
Laughing loudly, Audilon prepared to deliver a powerful blow. But just then, Kael'thas also spotted the Troll who had lost one of his daggers. His eyes lit up, and he shouted, "Audilon, leave that Troll to me!!"
Without waiting for the Warrior to answer, he had already drawn his rune sword, which glowed red. Moving with agile speed, he darted between Audilon and the Troll like a leopard in an instant. Gripping the sword in both hands, his eyes shining, he swung it down with all his might.
"All right..."
With no choice, Audilon withdrew to the side to stand guard.
"Wakado!"
The Troll raised his other dagger in alarm. With a clang, tiny sparks flew between the dagger and the rune sword, but the dagger held firm and blocked the blow!
"Wakaka!"
The tremendous impact he had expected never came. The Troll froze, then immediately burst out laughing as he looked at the frail elf before him, convinced that he was courting death!
"Heh..."
Kael'thas suddenly smiled coldly. The Arcane Orb above his head had long since been activated, and it now radiated a brilliant red light.
"Fireball!"
Kael'thas pressed the Troll rogue's dagger down with his rune sword and shouted. At once, the red light contained in the Arcane Orb surged out, forming an enormous fireball that merged with the red rune sword. Light flashed across the blade, and the entire sword was instantly engulfed in burning flames!
"Waaah~~"
The flames swept over the dagger, and the Troll pulled his hand back in pain before quickly dodging to the side!
But how could Kael'thas possibly let him get away!?
"You can't dodge this!!"
Sword in hand, he spun around and swung, as if scattering pearls. The flames on the blade flew off at once, turning into countless tiny beads of fire that crackled as they swept over the Troll!
"That's!!"
Watching the fight, Audilon could not help sucking in a sharp breath. "Magic can be used like that!?"
"Waaah~~!!"
Countless flames landed on the Troll and suddenly exploded one after another. His whole body felt as though it were being fried in oil, and he could not help crying out in pain!
It worked!!
Kael'thas was overjoyed. He had successfully analyzed Fireball and incorporated it into his rune sword. Although it was not a true enchantment, it was still the first combat technique he had ever created!!
Elated, he did not pause for even a moment. He accelerated in an instant and continued slashing at the rogue.
With his body on fire, the Troll could not use Stealth. This Troll rogue no longer posed the slightest threat to Kael'thas!!
Well done, Your Highness!!
Audilon was astonished once again. Although Kael'thas's posture and movements looked very unrefined, his reactions and ability to act were enough to demonstrate his future prospects in close combat!
Then Audilon laughed heartily, stopped watching, and turned to join another fight.
"His Highness's growth is truly frightening..."
On the other side, Liadrin clenched her hands, ready to heal Kael'thas at any moment, but she too could not help feeling afraid of his progress.
She had stayed by Kael'thas's side and watched him fight all along, so no one could have been more shocked than she was...
I should work hard too, or else, one day...
Liadrin cast a shield on Kael'thas and glanced sideways at Solarian, who was chanting a spell. She felt an intense pressure in her heart.
I absolutely can't lose to her!!
She gritted her teeth, thinking this with reluctance and a sense of grievance.
This child still did not know that, now that she felt this way, perhaps it was no longer a matter of loyalty...
The fights ended one after another in no time, but Kael'thas's opponent was still alive.
The Troll could barely catch his breath under Kael'thas's assault, but he always managed to keep Kael'thas from striking him. The moss on his skin seemed to lessen the flames, and combined with the Troll's own great regenerative ability, it had kept him alive amid the fire!
"Solarian, help me sprinkle some colorless powder on him!!"
A thought flashed through Kael'thas's mind, and he suddenly grew suspicious and called out to Solarian.
"Yes!"
Solarian answered. She used Blink to come over, then seized the opportunity to take out some colorless powder and sprinkle it on the Troll.
"How is that possible!!"
The next moment, the male mage cried out in alarm, startling everyone else!
"No reaction?"
A smile appeared on Kael'thas's face. Just as he had thought, the moss on the Troll was not ordinary moss; it could hide and eliminate the effect of the colorless powder!
And so, why the Trolls had been able to make it all the way here...
That question was now fully answered!
"Then, it's time to finish this!"
He gripped his sword and swung down hard. Seeing the Troll block the blade yet again, just as expected, Kael'thas could not help feeling somewhat disappointed in his own physical skills.
"Arcane Explosion!"
Blue elemental particles tinged with purple suddenly appeared in the air. With a bang, they bloomed like flowers and exploded around Kael'thas, forming a beautiful halo of light that quickly faded away.
"Waaah~~"
The Troll was blasted away.
"I'll deliver the finishing blow, Your Highness!" a ranger close to the Troll immediately said. The Troll, sprawled on the ground, suddenly froze, then stared blankly at Kael'thas for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Wakaka!"
The Troll did not understand the High Elves' language, but he had likewise learned from the tone of his elders about the chief culprit behind their defeat back then. The elves' form of address for their prince had also reached his ears.
Wahaha, so this is the elf prince!!
He quickly reached out and took out a cylinder, then pulled it sharply. A streak of blue flame flew into the sky and burst into a huge firework.
A firework?
Puzzled, Kael'thas looked toward the Troll and suddenly saw a freezing ice arrow shoot into his chest, snuffing out the last of his life!
"Ding..."
"You have completed the quest: Eliminate the Trolls. You have gained 4,200 experience points!"
"Solarian?"
Kael'thas turned to look at the astromancer. That had been her spell just now, but her face was now impossibly pale:
"Your Highness, let's run away!!"
Huh!? What's going on?
