Arc 32The Alps and the Trials
William defeated Golgomath’s Giants in the Alps, then returned to Britain with Hermione as Voldemort’s return and Ministry corruption came to the fore. Hermione was cleared at trial, but Snape’s defense left Harry humiliated, while Fudge continued tightening his grip on the Ministry.
- William entered the Giants’ cave alone, then fought Golgomath while Hagrid, Maxime, Sirius, and the students escaped, and he killed the Giant as Jungfrau collapsed.
- William and Hermione searched for survivors, then left Switzerland after arranging for Fridwulfa’s Giants to oppose Voldemort and Ygritte to study at Beauxbatons.
- Anne found Kreacher’s locket, and William destroyed the Horcrux inside it with Little Grey Robe, who identified Bellatrix as the person connected to Hufflepuff’s Cup.
- After Dementors attacked Harry, William sent friends to bring him from the Dursleys, while the Ministry summoned Hermione to answer for assaulting Umbridge and three Aurors.
- William defended Hermione in Courtroom Ten, where evidence showed that Umbridge had cast the Cruciatus Curse and Hermione had been protecting Missandei, and the Wizengamot declared Hermione innocent and ordered Umbridge to stand trial.
- At Harry’s hearing, Snape used Harry’s unsent letter to Cho and his private notes to humiliate him, leaving Harry distressed and considering whether to leave Hogwarts.
- Rita published articles and photographs exposing Voldemort’s return, while Fudge called them fake and pressured the Daily Prophet to stop, and the Order learned that Fudge was returning Umbridge to work and had reassigned three Aurors.
