Background / History

Early life and the Verdant Sea campaign

Su Liuyue had a younger brother in the mortal world when she entered the Spirit Moon Sect. His habit of calling her “sister” later makes Shen Ge’s informal address feel familiar rather than objectionable 36.

As Mo Qingyu’s personal disciple from Divine Sword Peak, she becomes a dangerous opponent of the Devil Creek Sect during the Verdant Sea campaign. She hunts its cultivators using self-made Fire Explosion Talismans and concealment techniques, exhausting a supply of roughly one hundred talismans. Her victims include Lu Feng, one of the sect’s ten devil sons 6.

Chu Xiong’s attempt to ambush her fails, and she pursues him until further pursuit would take her into enemy territory. During a later battle, she again refuses his challenge, withdrawing toward allies when he calls for others to surround her 7 9.

Injury and meeting Shen Ge

Shortly after entering Golden Core, Su Liuyue encounters a surviving Middle Golden Core cultivator of the destroyed Devil Creek Sect. Unable to defeat him directly or escape his pursuit, she prepares a concealed restraining formation beside an obvious sword formation and lures him into the trap 17 18.

She destroys his body and soul with Ten Thousand Swords Instruction, but his self-detonating Crimson Blood Sword and final blood-hand attack leave her gravely wounded. The blood hands pierce her abdomen, seal her meridians, and cut off her Spiritual Qi. She expects to break the seal within five days, but Shen Ge’s intervention creates a crack that allows her to release it herself 18 20.

Acknowledging that Shen Ge saved her life, she offers to repay him and overlooks his offensive behavior because he acted with good intentions. At his request, she gives him the dead cultivator’s Storage Bag after removing its more sinister contents 20.

Divine Sword Peak responsibilities

More than a year later, Su Liuyue senses the disciple token she left with Shen Ge and retrieves him from Qingyang Commandery. She brings him to Mo Qingyu, who accepts him as her second personal disciple partly to repay the debt owed for saving Liuyue 35.

When Mo Qingyu enters seclusion to attempt her Nascent Soul breakthrough, Su Liuyue takes charge of Divine Sword Peak. She settles Shen Ge into his residence, supplies him with talismans, and urges him to develop combat experience rather than rely solely on cultivation rank 36 39.

She also arranges for Shen Ge to become Su Sui’s master, rejecting his objections and explaining that having Mo Qingyu accept Su Sui would create an awkward generational relationship 69.

Supporting Shen Ge

Su Liuyue immediately recognizes damage to Shen Ge’s sea of consciousness when he returns injured. She accompanies Ziyang into Ghost Demoness’s ruins in search of a Spirit Severing Pill, but finds none. Afterward, she brings Shen Ge Spirit Stones from the expedition and continues helping him study cultivation and talismans 79 82.

When Shen Ge seeks revenge against Zhang Sheng for Mu Wan’s death, Su Liuyue draws the Star Sword to prevent other elders from interfering. After his departure from the sect, she rescues his friend Lü Yang and asks him to watch over Shen Ge’s impulsive behavior 141 143 169.

She retains Zhang Sheng’s unopened Storage Bag, intending to give it to Shen Ge when they meet again. Later, she gives Su Sui a Storage Bag containing belongings of her master and tells her to share anything useful with her junior sister 178 235.

Searching the Yaoguang Sea

Su Liuyue asks Mo Qingyu whether Shen Ge can finally return, recognizing that her master’s angry refusal does not reflect her true wishes 244.

After a South Sea teleportation array is repaired, Su Liuyue activates it before the array masters can finish objecting. She arrives in the Yaoguang Sea Area, but cannot contact Fenghuo or Shen Ge, whose original Sound Transmission Jade Slip has been replaced. Rather than search the entire sea herself, she plans a public challenge involving the Zhang Household so that news of her name will draw Shen Ge to her 252.

The plan succeeds: Shen Ge finds her on Sea Billow Island and agrees to return after settling unfinished business. Su Liuyue guards him while he creates a paper-figure double to handle his remaining tasks 255.

Heavenly Sword Sect and the Golden Lord inheritance

After the group reaches a new world, Li Yuxin demands their submission. Su Liuyue offers to follow her if Shen Ge and Mo Qingyu are allowed to remain behind. Li Yuxin ultimately takes both Su Liuyue and Wang Yan 270 274.

At Demonic Sword Valley, Su Liuyue endures Lin Fan’s unwanted attention and Wang Jing’s demands that she behave like an attendant. Once inside, she chooses to act independently and reunites with Shen Ge and Su Sui 280 281.

Later, badly wounded amid a battle involving Spirit Severing cultivators and Demon Beasts, she receives protection from Lord Golden Lord’s greatsword. Lin Fan taunts her over an attempt to have him killed and urges her to wield the weapon. She takes up the sword and sends a golden strike toward the battlefield 287.

Su Liuyue subsequently awakens in an enclosed realm with the greatsword nearby. She renames it Falling Star, begins refining it, and discovers a barrier enclosing a thousand-li radius. Exploring the realm leads her to Lord Golden Lord’s modest residence, sword manuals, and a notebook recording old grudges and completed revenge plans 289.

Later battles

In the Golden Lord realm, Su Liuyue manifests two identical selves, one dressed in red and the other in white. The red-robed self leaves through an opening cut in the sky, accompanied by a small white rabbit, while the white-robed self remains behind 320.

She later blocks Ye Xingchen, Meng Yan, and three sect leaders from interfering with Shen Ge’s battle against Xuanguang. Although injured in the confrontation, she remains standing when the five withdraw. She then retrieves Mu Wan’s extinguished soul lamp from Xuanguang’s Storage Bag and gives it to Shen Ge 333 334.

Having fully assimilated Lord Golden Lord’s inheritance, she fights Li Yuxin alongside Mo Qingyu and later receives assistance from Shen Linfeng, acting in Shen Ge’s place, and Li Xue. The battle leaves the participants gravely injured 344 345.

Her latest documented encounter is a near-fatal victory over a Demon Beast with Yazi bloodline. After collecting its valuable corpse, she conceals herself with more than a dozen arrays and immediately withdraws 364.

Appearance

Su Liuyue is tall, slender, and exceptionally beautiful, with an aloof bearing that Shen Ge compares to an immortal detached from the mortal world 20 289.

Personality

Su Liuyue is reserved, blunt, and difficult to provoke into openly displaying emotion. Qin Yu compares her coldness to Mo Qingyu’s, while Lin Fan’s attempts to coax a smile receive little response. Even when furious at his taunting, she keeps her expression controlled, regarding anger without the power to act as useless 6 280 287.

Her fighting style is pragmatic rather than chivalrous. She opens battles with explosive talismans, uses deception and terrain against stronger enemies, and retreats when pursuit or encirclement makes a fight unnecessarily dangerous. She sees no reason to conserve tools made specifically for combat 6 7 9 18.

Despite her manner, she is protective of those close to her. Shen Ge’s injury makes her anxious enough that Ziyang must caution her against rushing into dangerous ruins. Her loyalty does not mean unquestioning approval: she asks Lü Yang to restrain Shen Ge’s impulsiveness and later challenges whether he possesses the strength to reverse time or establish Samsara in his pursuit of Mu Wan 82 169 348.
