Background / History

Transmigration and the Villain System

Gu Xuanjin transmigrates into the body of the Immortal Gu Family’s forbidden divine son while his predecessor is cultivating in seclusion. He inherits the Supreme Sword Bone, substantial treasures, and the authority of the clan’s most exceptional young prodigy. The Destined Great Villain System binds to him and offers rewards for hunting protagonists blessed with Heavenly Dao providence 1 4 32.

His newcomer gift pack contains the Human Emperor Banner, sword immortal essence blood, and the forbidden ability Ten Thousand Swords Return to the Origin. While preparing to refine the blood, he learns that his cousin Gu Xiaoya’s broken engagement has triggered Xiao Han’s protagonist fate 1.

Destruction of the Xiao Clan and Su Lineage

Gu Xuanjin takes Ji Song and more than a hundred Divine Martial Guards to the Xiao Clan in the Youxuan Dao Domain. Publicly presenting his intervention as retaliation for insults against Gu Xiaoya and the Gu Clan, he surrounds the estate and orders its destruction 2 4 5.

He refuses Liang Chen’s request to withdraw with Su Xueying, reasoning that her attachment to Xiao Han would make her a future threat. During the confrontation, he exposes the Divine Flame Venerable’s remnant soul inside Xiao Han’s ring and reveals that “Xiao Xueying” is actually Su Xueying, who entered the Xiao Clan with an ulterior motive 5 7.

After Gu Beimo kills Su Xinghe and Su Xueying, the Heavenly Dao intervenes. Gu Xuanjin’s system shatters its avatar, allowing him to kill Xiao Han and collect his divine soul with the Human Emperor Banner. He then sends Gu Beimo, Ji Song, and the guards to eradicate the Su Lineage without survivors 7.

Jade Pool Gathering

At the Jade Pool Holy Land, Gu Xuanjin invites the assembled prodigies to attack him together and breaks their combined assault with a giant sword formed from Sword Qi. He also faces Li Xuanji, the Supreme Purity Palace’s Dao Child, whose challenge ends without forcing him to draw his carried sword 12 13 14 18.

Xu Lingxi offers him Sword Dao laws as a gesture of goodwill. Although he initially rejects her proposal of friendship on the grounds that her strength is insufficient, he accepts the gift and reciprocates with a subordinate wisp of Red Lotus Karmic Fire 13.

With Xu Lingxi’s assistance, he seeks out Lü Yifei, the crippled inheritor of Demon God Marquis Wen. He offers to restore Lü Yifei’s cultivation and enable him to personally avenge his childhood sweetheart. After testing Gu Xuanjin’s strength, Lü Yifei becomes his first follower 15 16.

Gu Xuanjin subsequently defeats Beigong Yan, Ye Chenzhou, and further challengers. The gathering is extended by two months, and he leaves with first place on the Wind and Cloud Ranking. His reputation spreads throughout the Three Thousand Dao Domains 18.

Quasi-Emperor’s Inheritance

After detecting Fang Lingtian’s God-Level Lottery System, Gu Xuanjin spends three million Villain Points to locate him near the Azure Cloud Ancient Kingdom. He instructs Dugu Yunyan to watch for Fang without risking his life 19.

He enters the nearby Quasi-Emperor’s inheritance with three objectives: hunt Fang Lingtian and seize his system’s origin, help Lü Yifei kill Lu Jun, and obtain the Yin-Yang Mystic Gang Bottle if possible. Four peak Quasi-Emperors secretly accompany him inside, while a Great Emperor ancestor remains in his traveling palace 21 23.

Gu Xuanjin prevents the Demon Race prodigies from interfering in Lü Yifei’s duel with Lu Jun and kills them with divine swords. His concealed protectors eliminate Lu Jun’s Dao protector, allowing Lü Yifei to complete his revenge 24 25.

He also opens an ancient coffin, annihilates its weakened foreign occupant with Sword Dao Pagoda, and obtains corrupted world origin power. Purifying it costs 39 million Villain Points 27.

When Fang Lingtian summons an incarnation of Nether Prison Heavenly Venerable, Gu Xuanjin counters its pressure through his system and produces a trial card containing the World-Saving Great Handprint. Their immortal Dao clash causes destruction across multiple Dao domains, despite Gu Xuanjin himself still being in the Dao Integration Realm 29 30.

War Against the Myriad Demon Divine Court

Lu Jun’s death brings Demon Emperor Lu Jue to the Gu Clan seeking revenge. After the Ninth Ancestor repels him, Gu Xuanjin advocates attacking first rather than waiting for further retaliation. The ancestors approve, and he enters seclusion before the campaign 25 31.

Gu Xuanjin deploys the clan’s ancestors, Great Emperor experts, immortal weapon, and elite armies against the Myriad Demon Divine Court and its allies. While the strongest combatants fight beyond the battlefield, he directs the armies below and confronts the enemy’s younger successors 32 34 36 37.

Against Lu Chen and the other Supreme Realm successors, he draws Moxie and unleashes Ten Thousand Swords Return to the Origin, breaking their combined assault. His killing of two Supreme Realm Demon Race experts with one sword strike is later recalled by the sword tomb’s guardians 37 41.

After the Divine Court falls, Gu Xuanjin proposes destroying its four allied strongholds as well: Divine Firmament Mountain, Five Rampancies Temple, the Abyssless Cave Ruins, and Ten-Thousand-Li Cloud and Mist Ridge. The ancestors agree, and the resulting annihilation alarms major powers throughout the Three Thousand Dao Domains 40.

Sword Tomb and Qin Clan Preparations

With Moxie no longer able to fully bear his power, Gu Xuanjin enters the Gu Clan’s sword tomb to find a replacement suitable for reforging with the Primordial Chaos Sword Embryo. He subdues Purgatory Blood Slaughter for Dugu Yunyan and encounters the divine sense of the Primordial-era ancestor who founded the tomb 41 42.

The ancestor tests him after questioning his ability to wield the immortal sword Abyssal Blowing Snow. Gu Xuanjin’s counterattack forces the ancestor to reveal immortal Dao power, earning his approval and a protective mark. Gu Xuanjin then collects additional swords and commissions Gu Qingming to reforge his weapons and strengthen his sword formation 43 44 45.

He next arranges a birthday visit to his maternal grandfather in the Longevity Qin Clan. Before departing, he dispatches three peak Quasi-Emperor assassins from Heavenly Tribulation to kill Qin Lingkong during the ongoing war, with instructions to conceal their identities 46.

Xu Lingxi’s Previous Timeline

Xu Lingxi remembers a previous life in which Gu Xuanjin suppressed the geniuses of his era, entered the depths of the starry sky in his twenties, swept through the Immortal Ancient Battlefield, and fought his way into the Immortal Realm. These are events from her remembered timeline, not milestones already reached by his present incarnation 10.

She also recalls that Gu Xuanjin and Li Xuanji eventually crossed endless ages together to reach the age of myth 13.

Appearance

  • Features: A handsome, youthful face and sword-shaped brows 2 42.
  • Clothing: Magnificent white-and-gold brocade robes 6 18 34.
  • Weapon: Commonly carries a longsword on his back 17 34.
  • Aura: Surrounded by sharp sword intent, silver-white Sword Qi, and circulating laws; observers repeatedly compare him to a sword immortal descending into the mortal world 4 18 34.

Personality

Gu Xuanjin is calm, aloof, and openly confident in his superiority. He considers individual challenges from weaker prodigies a waste of time and refuses Xu Lingxi’s initial offer of friendship because her strength does not meet his standards. Even before an immortal ancestor, he maintains that a Quasi-Emperor-level opponent might not defeat him 12 13 43.

His ruthlessness is preventive as well as retaliatory. He orders entire lineages exterminated to eliminate future avengers, rejects pleas based on Su Xueying’s visible hatred, and favors destroying the Myriad Demon Divine Court before it can pursue further revenge 5 7 31.

He values loyalty in subordinates and rewards useful service. He offers Ji Song help with his cultivation bottleneck, supplies Lü Yifei with high-quality resources, and honors his promise to let Lü Yifei personally kill Lu Jun 9 21 26.
