Secrets of Hunyuan! The Demon Race! Danger?
Amid the boundless Chaos.
The Four Sacred Beasts were stationed at the four extremes of the Primordial World.
They gazed down at the Primordial World, which had grown an entire size larger.
"Good heavens... Azure Dragon, this little fellow from your Dragon Race is incredible!" In the west, White Tiger could not help sucking in a breath of Chaos Qi.
"Y-yes... he is quite incredible!" In the east, Azure Dragon watched the scenes unfolding in the Primordial World. He forcibly suppressed his shock and put on an indifferent expression as he spoke.
Unlike Hongjun, who had met Ao Changsheng later, when Ao Changsheng was inside his Dao field, and thus knew nothing of his background.
Nor was Azure Dragon like the other Sacred Beasts, who had discovered Ao Changsheng when he attained the Daluo realm.
Azure Dragon had set his eyes on Ao Changsheng the moment he was born.
After all, this epoch should have been one in which the Dragon Race remained in seclusion.
Yet a dragon had happened to be born at the very end of the Dragon Han First Calamity, and only a few seconds later...
Before the Dragon Race could send anyone to bring him back, the next epoch had arrived.
The Dragon Race could no longer venture out, leaving that dragon stranded in the Primordial World.
How could Azure Dragon, an ancestor of the Dragon Race, not pay attention to such an unusual dragon?
And then...
He saw Ao Changsheng circulate the Ancestral Dragon Breathing Technique.
That was nothing unusual. After all, with a bloodline inheritance, Ancestral Dragon might have left the technique within it.
But... what was that method that seemed to cut off a piece of the Primordial World without harming it in the slightest?
The first time he saw it, his jaw had nearly come unhinged.
Still... after taking a deep breath, he could just about accept it.
After all, when he himself was born, he had also come into the world with an Innate Divine Ability that defied the heavens.
But the scenes that followed left the whole dragon dumbfounded.
First, the Ancestral Dragon Pearl, which he had placed in the Dragon Race's treasury after Ancestral Dragon fell, tore through space of its own accord and flew into Ao Changsheng's hands.
And then...
When facing Great Immortal Yangmei, he actually used Candle Dragon's Innate Divine Ability, the Eye of the Candle Dragon!
Even that was one thing, but the crucial question was, how had a little Golden Immortal dragon defeated Great Immortal Yangmei, whose strength was equivalent to a Quasi-Sage at the peak of the realm?
Golden Immortal... peak Quasi-Sage...
The gap between them was probably as vast as three, four, five, or six Primordial Worlds put together.
Even if Azure Dragon racked his brains, he could not understand how it had been done.
Later, when Ao Changsheng attained the Daluo realm, Azure Dragon was not all that surprised.
Wasn't it just a breakthrough to Daluo?
With the Ancestral Dragon Pearl in hand, didn't you just need claws to break through to Daluo?
Hadn't he merely killed more than a dozen Daluo experts in one battle?
He had nearly killed Great Immortal Yangmei, so what were a dozen Daluo experts?
Wasn't it just a cultivation method he had never seen before?
Was a cultivation method that led straight to the Hunyuan realm really so rare?
He was a Sacred Beast on the level of a Heavenly Dao Sage. Was it rare to him?
Sacred Beast Azure Dragon: "It's extremely rare!!!"
As for what had just happened over the East Sea...
Hadn't he merely become a Quasi-Sage? Hadn't his strength merely approached Hunyuan?
Hadn't he merely created a world with a casual gesture?
Hadn't that world merely made the Primordial World grow a size fatter?
Wasn't that just a tiny bit difficult?
Coiling through Chaos, Azure Dragon suddenly felt that his powerful Sacred Beast body had somehow lost its appeal!
"But seriously, I never expected a cultivator walking the Dao of Hunyuan to bring such great benefits to the Primordial World."
"Tell me, were we wrong to restrict the spread of the Dao of Hunyuan in the Primordial World?"
Vermilion Bird's clear voice reached the other Sacred Beasts.
"He's only an exception!" Black Tortoise opened his eyes, then half-closed them again as he spoke lazily.
"Who knows what fortuitous opportunity that little fellow from the Dragon Race obtained? Throughout his cultivation, he has absorbed almost none of the Primordial World's Spiritual Qi and has very little karma with it."
"Coupled with the methods he revealed this time, presumably his cultivation in the Primordial World in the future won't cause it much harm."
"But for other cultivators to attain the Dao of Hunyuan, the damage to the world would be far too great..."
"Take Yangmei, for example. If old Hongjun hadn't forced him out, we probably would have had to step in."
Black Tortoise's languid voice reached Vermilion Bird's ears, immediately bringing her out of her joy at the Primordial World's growth.
Even so, she still looked somewhat dejected.
"All right, don't be anxious. At most, after another four great calamities, once the nine Sages have taken their places and suppressed the Great Dao of the Primordial World, you can spread the Dao of Hunyuan however you like."
Black Tortoise spoke as though he knew why Vermilion Bird was dejected, offering her consolation.
"Mm!" Vermilion Bird nodded gently, but a little anticipation entered her gaze as she looked toward the distant Primordial World.
The Primordial World!
The East Sea!
Dijun watched from afar as Ao Changsheng's figure vanished into the Dao field. Most of the killing intent that had filled his eyes had already dissipated.
In its place were deep shock and a fear he himself had not noticed.
Without a doubt, the strongest person in the Primordial World at present was its sole Heavenly Dao Sage, Dao Ancestor Hongjun!
Dijun had seen Hongjun act before.
That was when Hongjun had effortlessly subdued the true body of "Pangu" summoned by the Twelve Ancestral Witches and saved them.
But Hongjun's intervention had been extremely brief.
Moreover, no one had seen clearly how that battle had unfolded.
So, as for the mighty power of a Heavenly Dao Sage...
Dijun did not know.
But thinking of the scenes that had just unfolded over the East Sea...
He could not help but think, A Sage can't be much more than this.
"Who... who exactly is he?"
Dijun simply refused to believe that Ao Changsheng was a dragon who had only attained the Daluo realm ten million years ago.
Even though the Dragon Race had been one of the hegemonic powers of the previous epoch, Dijun still did not believe it.
He would rather believe that Ao Changsheng was a powerful dragon who had attained the Dao back in High Antiquity.
A dragon on the level of a Sage.
If the Dragon Race had a Sage, how could it have been defeated in the previous epoch and fallen into decline?
Unless...
"Could it be the same situation as the Four Sacred Beasts?" Dijun could not help speculating.
He knew of the Four Sacred Beasts; many of the Primordial World's innate mighty figures knew they existed.
The scene of the Four Sacred Beasts' emergence had been branded deep into the souls of that generation of Innate Divine Beings. Even if they wanted to forget it, they could not.
However, they understood the Four Sacred Beasts' duties, so although they held the beasts in awe, they did not fear them.
"Big Brother!"
Seeing the silent Dijun beside him, Taiyi forced himself to rally and called out.
"The Dragon Race!" Dijun took a deep breath and overturned every impression of the Dragon Race he had held.
What losers of the previous epoch?
What a race that had declined in the Primordial World?
Could a declining race have a Sacred Beast behind it, as well as a powerhouse capable of taking on his entire Demon Race single-handedly?
"Let's go!"
After taking a long look at Ao Changsheng's Dao field, Dijun turned, ready to lead the Demon Race away.
After this defeat, he still had many things to do!
"Leave? Haha, none of you are going anywhere!"
Suddenly, an arrogant peal of laughter came from the distant horizon.
Dijun, Taiyi, and the demon gods and demons looked over.
Only then did they realize that, at some unknown point, vast numbers of cultivators had begun flying toward them from every direction. The densely packed cultivators almost blotted out the sky.
Although they had no formation and appeared somewhat disorderly, their numbers were certainly no fewer than those of the Demon Race when it had first arrived.
Who else could the cultivator leading them be but Eastern King Duke, whom Dao Ancestor Hongjun had named the foremost male immortal of the Primordial World?
"Eastern King Duke, what is the meaning of this?" Dijun's expression turned cold as he stared at him and demanded in a low voice.
"What is the meaning of this? Haha, Dijun, Taiyi, you trespassed in the East Sea and offended a powerful senior. Do you still expect to leave safely today?"
Eastern King Duke looked down from on high at the pale-faced Dijun, Taiyi, and the demon gods in the distance, and the smile on his face grew even brighter.
"That's right! Do you think our East Sea is a place you can come and go as you please?"
"Be good and leave your lives behind!"
Behind Eastern King Duke, the independent cultivators laughed smugly, one after another.
Beside Dijun, Taiyi and the demon gods looked terrible. At any other time, if the likes of these had dared speak to them this way...
They would have swallowed them whole in a single gulp.
"Dijun, Taiyi, you rampaged through the East Sea today, wantonly creating a debt of slaughter and offending a powerful senior."
"As the foremost male immortal of the Primordial World, personally appointed by the Dao Ancestor, I, Eastern King Duke, shall seek justice today for the living beings of the East Sea!"
Eastern King Duke slammed his dragon-headed staff heavily against the auspicious cloud beneath his feet and spoke with righteous indignation.
He really did look rather like a champion of justice.
"What a vicious Eastern King Duke..." Dijun's face darkened.
They had just exhausted themselves escaping from that world's destruction. Not only he, but almost no one in the entire Demon Race had any fighting strength left.
If they had a little more time to recover, he and Taiyi might regain some fighting strength and hold out until reinforcements arrived.
But now...
Above them, Eastern King Duke looked at Dijun's dark expression and felt his heart blossom with delight.
He had clearly been personally appointed by the Dao Ancestor as the foremost male immortal of the Primordial World, yet... his sphere of influence was confined to the East Sea.
The reason was the Demon Race.
As a staunch supporter of the Hongjun Immortal Dao, he firmly believed that everyone who cultivated it was an "immortal."
But across the Primordial World, almost all living beings and races had joined the Demon Race's forces, calling themselves demons rather than "immortals."
On those grounds, they refused to acknowledge his authority as the foremost male immortal.
He hated the Demon Race to the bone for it.
Now, at last, he had a chance to take his revenge, and he felt all his past frustrations swept away.
However...
He also knew this was no time to gloat. The longer things dragged on, the worse it would be for him.
"All immortals, heed my command... slaughter the demons!"
With a thunderous shout, Eastern King Duke took the lead, sending his dragon-headed staff straight at Dijun.
"Slaughter the demons!"
"Slaughter the demons!"
The cultivators shouted madly and charged at the demons in the sea, who had little ability to resist.
But this was not because Eastern King Duke held such a high place in their hearts. They were coveting the demons' bodies.
Of the demons who had managed to survive until now, even the weakest were Mystic Immortals.
The corpses of Mystic Immortals, Golden Immortals, and even Taiyi and Daluo great demons were treasures exceedingly hard to come by in ordinary times.
Now they could practically pick them up for free. How could these cultivators not go mad?
Eastern King Duke controlled his dragon-headed staff and brought it crashing straight down at Dijun.
"Clang!"
A bell rang out. With the Chaos Bell above his head, Taiyi stepped directly in front of Dijun to block the blow. His face was paper-white; clearly, Eastern King Duke's attack had been far from easy to withstand.
"Big Brother, go!" Taiyi growled through clenched teeth.
"Taiyi!" Dijun's eyes nearly split.
At that moment, another figure of Eastern King Duke attacked from the side.
This was the good corpse Eastern King Duke had severed.
"Dijun, die..." Eastern King Duke thrust a Pure Yang longsword, an Innate Spirit Treasure, straight at Dijun.
Just as Dijun was about to be struck and fall on the spot...
"Heavenly Emperor, go!"
A demon god nearby roared and charged over, throwing himself in front of Dijun like a madman. He burned his body and Primordial Spirit to forcibly stop Eastern King Duke.
But...
A Daluo expert was far too weak against a Quasi-Sage's good corpse.
Sword light flashed, piercing straight through the Daluo demon god. Pure Yang Qi obliterated his burning body and Primordial Spirit, and he fell on the spot.
"Heavenly Emperor, the Demon Race can't be without you!"
"Heavenly Emperor, go!"
One Daluo demon god after another followed his example, charging forward to block Eastern King Duke.
"Damn it!"
Dijun stared at the scene before him, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot, as miserable screams rose and fell around him.
The massacre caused by the Witch Race tens of millions of years ago rose unbidden in his mind.
"Eastern King Duke! You deserve to die..." Dijun's voice was like that of a vicious ghost crawling up from beneath the Nine Netherworlds, brimming with a bone-chilling killing intent of unimaginable terror.
The River Diagram and Luo Book appeared above his head, and he was about to charge straight at Eastern King Duke.
"Haha, Dijun, today is the day you die!"
With a single slash, Eastern King Duke's benevolent corpse wiped out every Daluo demon god charging at him, sending them back to the void. Filled with killing intent, he possessed none of the "benevolence" a benevolent corpse should have.
Longsword in hand, he charged at Dijun once more.
"Eastern King Duke, how dare you..."
An enraged voice rang out from the horizon, shaking the heavens.
