Background
Dijun and Taiyi were innate divine beasts born from the Sun Star. They gained sentience exceptionally early, and the star’s immense power helped them learn secrets unknown to most Daluo cultivators. Both developed ambitions extending beyond personal cultivation to dominion over the Primordial World 15.
During the Demon Race’s early formation, Dijun clashed with the Witch Race at Mount Buzhou on behalf of races that had joined his faction. He later regretted provoking the witches before the demons were strong enough to confront them—not the hostility itself, which he considered inevitable 27.
Personality
Dijun combines far-reaching ambition with strategic patience. He expects the Demon Race eventually to obtain the Dragon Race’s inheritance, rule the Primordial World, and attain Sagehood. Nevertheless, he repeatedly restrains Taiyi from premature confrontations, prioritizing recruitment, cultivation opportunities, and the balance of forces over immediate revenge 10 15 21.
His caution coexists with greed and pride. During his first attack on Ao Changsheng, he refuses to enter unfamiliar territory but becomes increasingly interested in the treasures and inheritance supposedly concealed there. Later, concern for the Demon Race’s public prestige makes retreat unacceptable to him, while the overwhelming borrowed power of the Golden Crow star god leaves him convinced he is invincible 28 44.
Dijun also shows attachment to his family and followers. He responds tenderly when Xihe shields him, asks after her injuries, and becomes enraged when demon gods sacrifice themselves to protect him 46 47 48.
Abilities & Skills
Great Sun Principle and Solar Flames
Dijun wields the Great Sun Principle through divine sunlight, intense heat, and Great Sun Golden Flame 28 29.
- His flames rapidly boil the surrounding ocean, while his full-strength solar attacks threaten devastation across a vast portion of the East Sea 28 29.
- He forms a Golden Crow claw from Law Power to seize opponents 28.
- His divine sunlight counteracts a Quasi-Sage-level beam from Ao Changsheng’s avatar 29.
- As a Great Sun Golden Crow, he withstands the light and heat of Ao Changsheng’s daylight attack, although his followers cannot 43.
- He travels as a streak of rainbow light 27 28.
Heavenly Calculation and Domain Manipulation
Using the River Diagram and Luo Book, Dijun performs calculations described by Ao Changsheng as among the Primordial World’s greatest 28.
- After becoming a Quasi-Sage, he traces Ao Changsheng through the phenomena produced by his Daluo ascension 28.
- He cannot calculate anything inside Ao Changsheng’s concealed cultivation ground, despite being able to see the territory directly 28.
- He creates a domain that cuts the Law Power supply between Ao Changsheng’s avatar and cultivation ground 29.
- The domain cannot withstand the Eye of the Candle Dragon unleashed by Ao Changsheng’s true body 29.
Three Corpses Method
Dijun cultivates Hongjun’s Method of Severing the Three Corpses, producing separate evil and benevolent corpse manifestations 24 33.
- His evil corpse appears as a black-robed Dijun, carries intense killing intent, and uses black True Sun Fire 29.
- His benevolent corpse appears as a golden-robed Dijun and can fight independently; Houtu engages it during the first Witch-Demon battle 33 34.
- Ao Changsheng judges that Dijun and Taiyi’s obsession with destroying the Witch Race will prevent them from severing their Self Corpses. This is Ao Changsheng’s assessment, not a demonstrated breakthrough attempt 37.
Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation
Dijun commands the Demon Race’s stellar formation, which combines its cultivators’ power with that of the Primordial World’s stars 38 43 44.
- Entrapment: Draws enemies into a starry space and cuts them off from external Spiritual Qi 43.
- Stellar attacks: Bombards opponents with moving stars and starlight; destroyed stars can be restored 38.
- Solar manifestation: Dijun becomes a great sun within the formation. During the second Witch-Demon war, the Sun Star’s power rapidly restores this manifestation after “Pangu” cracks it 39.
- Golden Crow star god: Dijun merges with a colossal Golden Crow formed from the demons, stars, and True Sun Fire. Taiyi supplies solar fire from its center 44.
- Limitations: The formation fails to draw Ao Changsheng’s Dao field into its space. Ao Changsheng’s World-Origin technique later isolates it from the stars, sharply reducing its available power 43 44 45.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- River Diagram and Luo Book — Companion spirit treasures used for divination, protection, and domain creation. Fuxi and Kunpeng also use them to direct the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation 27 28 29 38.
- Great Sun Essence Wheel — An Innate Spirit Treasure that becomes a blazing miniature sun when infused with Dijun’s Law Power. It can restore itself after damage while its Innate Indestructible Divine Light remains intact 28 29.
- Innate Spirit Treasure used for benevolent-corpse severance — An unnamed treasure employed during the Heavenly Court’s founding 33.
Relationships
- Eastern Emperor Taiyi — Younger brother and fellow Demon Race ruler. Dijun moderates his impatience; Taiyi repeatedly shields him with the Chaos Bell and rescues him after his first defeat by Ao Changsheng 15 21 29 46.
- Xihe — Wife and sun goddess. Their marriage accompanies the Demon Race’s expansion across the stars. She later rescues Dijun from Eastern King Duke’s attack 34 47.
- Changxi — Prospective dao companion and Supreme Yin goddess. She makes her acceptance conditional on Dijun capturing a Dragon Race Daluo. Despite assisting him, she maintains the condition after his defeats 28 40 49.
- Ao Changsheng — Target of capture and revenge. Dijun initially seeks his supposed Dragon Race inheritance, then pursues him to fulfill Changxi’s condition and erase his humiliation 15 28 33 44.
- Hongjun — Teacher of the cultivation method Dijun follows and protector of the Witch-Demon balance. Hongjun secures Ao Changsheng’s promise to spare both brothers during the great tribulation and later saves the demon leaders from the witches’ formation 24 31 32 37.
- Dijiang and the Twelve Ancestral Witches — Mortal enemies and rivals for supremacy. Their conflict includes the cushion contest, the massacre of demons, and successive wars against the Heavenly Court 8 27 34 38.
- Nüwa, Fuxi, and Kunpeng — Senior Heavenly Court figures appointed respectively as Wa Emperor, Xi Emperor, and Demon Master. Kunpeng’s timely arrival brings relief to the exhausted demons after the East Sea battle 33 48.
- Eastern King Duke — Rival ruler who resents the Demon Race’s refusal to recognize his authority over cultivators. He ambushes Dijun’s exhausted forces after their defeat by Ao Changsheng 46.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Purple Firmament Palace
At Hongjun’s first sermon, Dijun and Taiyi nearly secure two of the six foremost cushions. The Twelve Ancestral Witches drag them away, costing them the opportunity 8.
Before the second lecture, Dijun refuses Taiyi’s suggestion to attack the apparently isolated Gonggong, fearing that interference from Dijiang could make them miss the sermon. The brothers reach the palace with their recruited Daluo followers, endure the witches’ repeated cultivation disruptions, and eventually sever their evil corpses 21 22 23 24.
First Attack on Ao Changsheng
Dijun’s interest in Ao Changsheng begins with the possibility of obtaining the Dragon Race’s accumulated treasures and method of advancing beyond Daluo. After reaching Quasi-Sage, his immediate objective changes: capturing Ao Changsheng would satisfy Changxi’s condition for becoming his dao companion 15 27 28.
He locates the concealed Dao field and attacks from outside it. Although he successfully cuts the supply sustaining Ao Changsheng’s avatar, a beam from the true body pierces his domain, Great Sun Essence Wheel, and evil corpse before gravely wounding him. Taiyi blocks the next strike with the Chaos Bell and escapes with him to the Sun Star 28 29.
Hongjun subsequently negotiates a promise that Ao Changsheng will spare the brothers during the great tribulation, offering the Jianmu sapling in exchange 31 32.
Founding the Heavenly Court
After obtaining Hongjun’s tacit approval, Dijun establishes the Heavenly Court at Mount Buzhou. He proclaims authority over the sun, moon, stars, and living beings, appoints its senior rulers, and becomes Heavenly Emperor. The resulting merit heals him and Taiyi and enables both to sever their benevolent corpses as the Heavenly Realm appears 33.
Dijun then marries Xihe. More than half the stars become Demon Race territory, and the combination of stellar resources and the Heavenly Realm’s cultivation environment accelerates the faction’s growth 34.
Witch-Demon Wars
While the demon leaders attend Hongjun’s third sermon, Great Witches massacre demons for nearly four thousand years. Dijun returns to widespread devastation and fights Dijiang, Xuanming, and Houtu. When the Twelve Ancestral Witches summon their Pangu-like giant, Hongjun intervenes before its punch can destroy the six demon Quasi-Sages 34 36 37.
Hongjun confines the witches to Mount Buzhou for a million years, allowing the Demon Race to rebuild and gather the allegiance of nearly all the Primordial World’s races. When war resumes, Dijun deploys the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation against the witches’ giant 37 38.
The witches ultimately escape. Dijun declares victory despite heavy losses and the pollution of six heavens by Sha Qi 40.
Renewed East Sea Campaign
Dijun returns to Ao Changsheng’s Dao field with the Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation. Beyond revenge and Changxi’s promise, he hopes that marrying her will let him place the Supreme Yin Star Banner in that star’s core, creating a permanent stellar formation to protect the Heavenly Realm 43 44.
When ordinary formation attacks fail, he merges with the Golden Crow star god. Ao Changsheng counters with World-Origin, engulfing it in a newly formed world and severing its stellar connection. The demons survive, but emerge exhausted, and Dijun abandons his earlier contempt for the supposedly declining Dragon Race 44 45 46.
Eastern King Duke immediately ambushes them. Taiyi and several self-sacrificing demon gods protect Dijun until Xihe arrives. Dijun rallies the survivors into the stellar formation, and Kunpeng’s reinforcements eventually bring relief 46 47 48.
Changxi nevertheless refuses to waive her original condition, acknowledging afterward that she and Dijun may not be destined to become companions 49.
