Background / History
Rebirth and the Decision to Remain in Seclusion
Ao Changsheng was originally an ordinary twenty-first-century human. He was reborn as a white dragon and hatched on a nameless East Sea island near the end of the Dragon Han First Calamity. His inherited dragon memories and knowledge of the Primordial World allowed him to recognize the approaching decline of the Dragon Race 1.
Luohou’s declaration nearly drove him into suicidal despair through a devilish influence. The awakening of the Strongest Seclusion System brought him back to his senses. He chose ten thousand years of seclusion for the Ancestral Dragon Breathing Technique, then rejected an opportunity to leave and protect the Dragon Race in favor of another hundred thousand years of cultivation 1.
Yangmei’s Attack and the Jade Disc Trade
Great Immortal Yangmei probed Ao Changsheng’s cultivation ground and proposed severing part of the Primordial World to take into Chaos. Ao Changsheng sensed malice behind his courteous manner and rejected the plan, recognizing the harm such an act could cause. He selected a million-year seclusion, obtained the Eye of the Candle Dragon, and used his cultivation ground’s enhancement to severely wound Yangmei 2 3 4.
Among five treasures Yangmei left behind, Ao Changsheng discovered a hidden Jade Disc of Creation Fragment. He concluded that Yangmei intended it to draw Hongjun’s attention. Rather than conceal it, he negotiated a trade with Hongjun, receiving the Qiankun Cauldron, Yellow Center Plum, and numerous high-grade Innate Spirit Treasures and Spirit Roots 4 5 6 7.
Daluo Ascension and the Dragon Race’s Enemies
Before becoming a Daluo, Ao Changsheng reconsidered his reliance on the Dragon Principle: forming a Dao Fruit around it would make changing his path difficult. He instead adopted the Method of Opening an Inner World and attained Daluo through the Dao of the World 10 11 12.
Eastern Emperor Taiyi publicly identified him as a dragon after his ascension. Thirteen Daluo Golden Immortals pursued him to avenge grievances against the Dragon Race. Ao Changsheng killed one with the Eye of the Candle Dragon and destroyed the remaining attackers with the Ancestral Dragon Pearl and World of Ten Thousand Dragons. News of the battle spread throughout the Daluo community 13 14 15.
Encounters with the Ancestral Witches
When Gonggong entered his sanctuary and threatened him, Ao Changsheng sentenced him to hold up the heavens inside an unstable embryonic universe for one hundred years. Pressure within that universe awakened a trace of Pangu’s power in Gonggong’s bloodline. Ao Changsheng watched it open a complete universe and gained insights into world evolution; Gonggong also reached Quasi-Sage during the imprisonment 17 18 19.
Gonggong later returned with Houtu and gifts in gratitude. Ao Changsheng denied taking credit for Gonggong’s breakthrough and advised the Ancestral Witches to establish their own cultivation path. He warned that the Witch and Demon Races faced an epochal calamity, suggesting that the witches consider what they could contribute to the Primordial World if they wished to survive their decline 25 26.
Dijun’s Attack and the Acquisition of Jianmu
Dijun located Ao Changsheng through the heavenly phenomena left by his Daluo ascension, intending to capture a Dragon Race Daluo to satisfy Changxi’s condition for becoming his Dao companion. Ao Changsheng initially fought through an avatar. When Dijun severed its supply of Law Power, his true body struck back, gravely wounding Dijun; Taiyi intervened with the Chaos Bell and escaped with him 28 29.
Hongjun subsequently offered the sealed World Tree sapling Jianmu in exchange for a promise not to kill either demon emperor during the great tribulation. Ao Changsheng agreed and retrieved the tree remotely from his cultivation ground. He planted it in his separate Great Thousand Universe rather than his inner world, accepting a temporary reduction of that universe to Middle Thousand level to preserve the insights gained through his inner world’s natural transformations 31 32 34.
Later Seclusion and the Demon Formation
Nüwa visited on Hongjun’s recommendation to ask about an elusive cultivation opportunity. Ao Changsheng suggested that it might depend on timing, cultivation, or comprehension rather than finding a particular object. Her visit also prompted him to examine the restrictions associated with Primordial purple Qi and reaffirm his preference for an independent cultivation path 41 42.
After completing ten million years of seclusion, he chose another hundred million years and obtained the Seed of the Great Dao. In a later confrontation with the Demon Race’s Zhou Tian Star Dou Great Formation, he drew on his World Tree-supported world and trapped its Great Sun Golden Crow manifestation inside a newly created, collapsing world 42 43 44 45.
The demons escaped before that world collapsed and was reborn. Hongjun manifested the Eye of the Heavenly Dao, and the new creation was absorbed into the Primordial World’s control. Although Ao Changsheng received Heavenly Dao Merit, he was dissatisfied that his creation could be claimed and resolved to perfect the Dao of the World 45.
The Human Race
The appearance of Nüwa’s humans stirred memories of Ao Changsheng’s former life. Despite reminding himself that they were not the humans of his original world, he remained emotionally affected by them. He observed their development from seclusion and reflected that, in his current dragon form, they might worship him as a divine beast or fear him as a calamity 50.
Appearance
Ao Changsheng’s true form is a snow-white dragon. At Daluo level, his dragon body measured tens of thousands of zhang before enhancement by the Ancestral Dragon Pearl 1 14.
- White scales: With the pearl’s reinforcement, the pursuing Daluo’s attacks failed to leave a mark on them 14.
- Black-and-white eyes: Activating the Eye of the Candle Dragon turns his left eye black and his right eye white 3.
- Enlarged dragon form: The Ancestral Dragon Pearl expanded his body to tens of millions of zhang while greatly increasing his strength and defense 14.
- Human form: He can assume human form, as shown after his battle against the Demon Race’s formation 45.
Personality
Ao Changsheng is cautious and strongly protective of his independence. He refuses to expose valuable treasures before stronger cultivators merely to attend Hongjun’s lectures, and repeatedly chooses secluded cultivation over involvement in the world’s struggles. He also recognizes that his smooth cultivation journey and isolation have left him feeling incompletely integrated into the Primordial World 7 21.
His dedication to seclusion is not solely fear-driven. Comprehending the Dao brings him genuine happiness, and he values freely exploring its possibilities. He declines a shortcut to Hunyuan because it would sacrifice opportunities to understand his inner world’s transformations 26 34 42.
He is suspicious of hidden motives, attentive to profitable exchanges, and capable of sharp retaliation. Although his attachment to the Dragon Race is limited, he resents being treated as prey because of its past actions. His sympathy for the Ancestral Witches also has limits: their massacre of the Demon Race leaves him deeply disgusted, and he does not consider his earlier guidance a bond of allegiance 4 7 13 37.
Abilities & Skills
Strongest Seclusion System and Dao Field
The system supplies cultivation resources and establishes a protected cultivation ground in which Ao Changsheng’s will replaces heaven’s will 1 2.
- Provides unlimited Innate Spiritual Qi and rewards for choosing periods of seclusion 1.
- Grants Sage-level combat strength without requiring his actual cultivation to have reached the Sage realm 2 4.
- Enables exceptionally fine detection of intruding Divine Sense, hidden spatial traces, and malicious intent 2 3 4.
- Conceals his heavenly secrets, though Dijun bypassed direct concealment by calculating from his ascension phenomena 28.
- Requires his true body to remain inside the field for enhancement. He later demonstrates that enhanced attacks can extend beyond it, reaching across the Primordial World 32.
Ancestral Dragon Breathing Technique
His first cultivation method converts absorbed Innate Spiritual Qi into Law Power and is particularly suited to his dragon body 1.
- Supported his initial ten-thousand-year cultivation 1.
- Reaches the limit of its potential at the Daluo Golden Immortal stage 42.
Eye of the Candle Dragon
A Dragon Race divine ability involving multiple Great Daos, including principles Ao Changsheng studies as time, yin and yang, and reincarnation 10 14.
- Reverses day and night and releases destructive black-and-white divine light 3.
- Pierced Yangmei’s spatial Dao and inflicted extensive Dao injuries when enhanced by the cultivation ground 4.
- Extinguished Dijun’s Great Sun Golden Flame and swallowed a Law Power claw in darkness 28.
- Can be fired repeatedly using his inner world’s reserves, though rapidly unleashing twelve rays at his newly attained Daluo stage would cause backlash 14.
- Remains a powerful divine ability even at Primordial Daluo Golden Immortal level 42.
Method of Opening an Inner World
Ao Changsheng cultivates an internal world whose evolution develops his understanding of the Dao of the World and expands his Law Power reserves 11.
- Allowed him to form his Daluo Dao Fruit without committing to the Dragon Principle 10 11.
- Gives him Law Power reserves far beyond an ordinary newly ascended Daluo 14.
- Uses the system’s unlimited Innate Spiritual Qi to nurture the world without plundering the Primordial World’s resources 11.
- Advances through world transformations; his inner world’s promotion to Middle Thousand level raised his cultivation to Quasi-Sage equivalence 42.
- Offers a future route to Hunyuan through the growth of his inner world into a Great Thousand World; that advancement is not yet documented 11.
World Creation and World of Ten Thousand Dragons
He combines world power with the Ancestral Dragon Pearl’s Dragon Principle to suppress enemies 14.
- Forms Law Power dragon claws containing worlds that immobilize opponents 14.
- Fills those worlds with golden dragons that grind down trapped targets 14.
- Used the technique against the pursuing Daluo and later against Dijun’s evil corpse 14 29.
- Can create separate universes, but their stability and ownership depend on his comprehension. His early practice universe was chaotic and incomplete, while a later creation was claimed by the Primordial World’s Heavenly Dao 17 45.
Incarnations and World Tree Reinforcement
Ao Changsheng conducts meetings and battles through incarnations while his true body continues cultivating 6 29.
- Can supply an avatar with Law Power from his true body, although that connection can be severed 29.
- Uses an incarnation as a coordinate for remote action by his enhanced true body 32.
- Can connect a manifested body to Jianmu and draw on the power of its Middle Thousand World 34 43.
- Regards a future Sage-level, independently mobile incarnation as a goal rather than an already completed advancement 34.
Daluo Existence
His Daluo breakthrough freed his soul from the River of Space and Time and engraved his life imprint at the world’s beginning 12.
- Can traverse the river to reach earlier eras 12 14.
- Can eventually return after death unless the river is destroyed or every trace of his existence within it is erased 12.
