A Clean Sweep
Ma Hongjun covered the back of his head and glanced back at Wang Xingyu sheepishly.
In that instant of distraction, the Agility Attack System Soul Master on the other side finally seized the opportunity, pushing off with his feet and accelerating to the maximum speed, preparing to flank and charge. The buffing light of the Support System Soul Master had already lit up, about to be cast on him.
Wang Xingyu gently tugged at Ma Hongjun's waist with his Blue Silver Grass.
The tacit understanding developed over three months of training allowed the fat man to instantly understand the signal—he didn't turn around, his cheeks suddenly puffed out, and a crimson Phoenix Fire Line directly circled around the Agility Attack System Soul Master, slamming down on the Support System Soul Master behind him who was casting a buff.
The Support System Soul Master had just raised his hand to cast a speed boost on his teammate when, before the buff could even reach them, crimson flames had already covered his face.
He was thrown back several steps by the fire, his back slammed into the ring railing, and he slipped and fell off.
The Agility Attack System Soul Master glanced back at the direction where his teammate had fallen off the stage, then turned back to look at the two people opposite him, swallowing hard.
Ma Hongjun's line of fire began to narrow, no longer a relentless barrage, but precisely positioned on the left and right flanks of the Agility Attack System Soul Master's retreat path.
Just as I landed on the left, a streak of fire grazed past my shoulder; I tried to dodge to the right, but crimson flames had already blocked my path.
The arena is only so big, and the speed advantage of Agility Attack System can't be utilized under this relentless pressure. They can only dodge left and right within the ever-shrinking range of movement, and in the end, they are forced to the edge of the arena.
He glanced at the platform beneath his feet, barely half a step away, then at the line of fire about to erupt from Ma Hongjun's mouth, and raised his hand.
"I surrender!"
Ma Hongjun withdrew the last spark of fire that was still swirling in his mouth, wiped the sparks from the corner of his mouth, and gave Wang Xingyu a thumbs up. "Brother Yu, with your Soul Power, Fatty's fire line is a perpetual motion machine!"
Wang Xingyu took the Blue Silver Grass back from his waist, felt the Soul Power within his body, and really didn't want to accept the fat man's commercial flattery.
He unfolded his fan and shook it, thinking that he needed to control his damage output in the next game—he had been so focused on feeding the fat guy in the previous match that he had almost exhausted himself. There were still team fights to be fought later, and he couldn't let the fat guy have his fun any longer.
When Ma Hongjun saw Wang Xingyu take out a fan, he immediately followed suit, pulling out his own folding fan with a chubby flaming phoenix painted on it from his waist, waving it twice in front of his chest, and raising his chin slightly, striking a pose as if to say, "This fat man is also a refined person."
The Soul Fighting Arena's announcement rang out overhead—"The Fat Fish Combination wins!"
The two returned to the lounge and found that Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu had finished their match and were chatting on a bench. Ma Hongjun strode over, plopped down in a chair, picked up the teapot on the table, poured himself a glass of water, and asked as he poured, "It's over so quickly? Did you win?"
"Of course!" Xiao Wu exclaimed excitedly, "We annihilated them instantly, without even using Teleportation. One of them was kicked off the stage by Zhu Zhuqing in one move, and I cornered the remaining one in the corner of the ring. Zhu Zhuqing finished him off with a kick from behind."
Wang Xingyu sat down on a chair nearby and gently fanned himself with a fan.
A moment later, Dai Mubai, Oscar, Tang San, and Ning Rongrong returned at the same time.
"You won them all?" Wang Xingyu asked.
"We won." Tang San nodded and sat down beside him. "Dai Mubai was already strong, but after three months of special training, his explosive power has become even more terrifying. Our opponent didn't even last a few rounds, not to mention Oscar."
Oscar gave a peace sign from the side.
Dai Mubai crossed his arms and glanced at Tang San. "Your Second Soul Skill isn't bad either. The Offshoot Vine Tendril are impossible for an opponent to break through unless they're a fire-type Soul Master. Controlling them guarantees a win."
"It was all thanks to Rongrong's final boost that doubled the speed and locked the game in place."
Ning Rongrong unfolded the seven-tiered glazed pagoda-shaped fan in her hand, a smile on her face. "It's all thanks to Third Brother's excellent timing. I knew it was secure the moment you spread the Offshoot out; I just sped up the process a bit."
As everyone was chatting animatedly, the door to the lounge was suddenly pushed open.
A burly man walked in, followed by a tall, scantily clad woman. The two stood at the doorway and scanned the crowd, their eyes sweeping over each person.
The burly man finally fixed his gaze on Zhu Zhuqing. He took a few steps closer, his smile revealing undisguised frivolity.
"Nice figure, chick. Why are you covering your face? Let me see."
Zhu Zhuqing's gaze was as cold as ice. "Get out."
The burly man didn't back down; instead, he took another step forward, reaching out a hand to touch Zhu Zhuqing's mask. "Don't be so cold—"
Before his hand could even touch the edge of the mask, his wrist was firmly gripped by another hand. Dai Mubai had somehow appeared in front of Zhu Zhuqing, his five fingers clamping down on the burly man's wrist like iron clamps, the web of his hand wedged precisely at the joint of his wrist bone.
"She told you to get out, didn't you hear me?"
The burly man turned his head to look at Dai Mubai, a smile playing on his lips rather than anger. "Looking for death, Xiao Bai."
The two men threw punches almost simultaneously. The two forces collided precisely in mid-air, and the impact of their fists against each other produced a dull thud. The aftershocks of their Soul Power exploded from the point of impact, causing several chairs in the lounge to slide back a few inches.
The burly man's smile froze for a moment, Dai Mubai also frowned slightly. Neither of them retreated an inch.
The door to the lounge was pushed open again. The Grandmaster stood in the doorway, holding a file folder in his hand, his cold gaze sweeping over the burly man and the woman behind him.
"Mad Battle Team, please leave immediately. Otherwise, I will report you to the Soul Fighting Arena for harassing your opponents before the match."
The burly man withdrew his fist, stretched his wrist where Dai Mubai had gripped it, and his nonchalant smile returned to his face.
"Hey, we were just joking, no need to take it so seriously." He turned and walked out, glancing back at Dai Mubai at the door before disappearing down the corridor with the woman.
The Grandmaster watched their figures disappear around the corner of the corridor, then turned and placed the file folder on the table. "These are your opponents for tonight's team battle. The Mad Battle Team, currently the team with the longest winning streak in the Suotuo City Great Soul Arena."
Dai Mubai flexed his knuckles; a slight numbness still lingered where he had exchanged punches with the burly man.
Zhu Zhuqing turned her gaze from the doorway to the document on the table. The Grandmaster opened the document bag and laid out the information of each member of the Mad Battle Team on the table one by one.
Wang Xingyu stood to the side, closed his fan, and tapped it lightly in his palm. The Mad Battle Team. In the original story, this team was the first tough nut the Shrek Seven Devils encountered in the Soul Fighting Arena. All members had Soul Power above level 35, were well-equipped, and fought fiercely.
Mad Rhino, the captain of the Mad Battle Team, is a power-type Power Attack System Battle Soul Master. He just fought Dai Mubai to a draw.
I remember in the original novel, he was able to surpass Dai Mubai, and the results of these three months are clearly visible.
