Dai Mubai initially behaves with considerable entitlement. At the Rose Hotel, he demands the room already booked by Tang San’s group and physically tests Tang San when refused. During the journey to the Star Dou Great Forest, he welcomes an opportunity to provoke Canghui Academy, defending the attitude that strength reigns supreme among Soul Masters 26 36.

He nevertheless recognizes superior technique and accepts defeat. After his first draw with Tang San, he stops underestimating Blue Silver Grass. In their later training match, he acknowledges the limitations of his own all-out attack and surrenders when Offshoot leaves him unable to advance 26 47.

His possessiveness toward Zhu Zhuqing becomes a point of personal growth. He initially treats their partnership as an inescapable destiny, but asks Wang Xingyu how to respect her. Wang Xingyu challenges him to protect her without forcing her to accept him and to gain enough strength for both of them to choose freely 71 72.

Arrival at Shrek and Early Training

Dai Mubai first meets Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Wang Xingyu at the Rose Hotel while accompanied by two young women. His demand for his usual room leads to a fight with Tang San. Neither gains a decisive advantage, and Dai Mubai voluntarily ends the encounter as a draw 26.

Already a Shrek student, he subsequently guides the applicants through the academy’s entrance examination. He introduces Zhao Wuji’s level and Martial Soul, remains outside the fourth test, and congratulates the newcomers after they pass 27 28 30.

During the journey to obtain Oscar’s Third Soul Ring, he and Xiao Wu defeat eight Canghui students before their teacher, Ye Zhiqiu, intervenes. In the forest, he helps subdue Oscar’s Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent. After the Titan Giant Ape carries off Xiao Wu and Wang Xingyu, he reports their disappearance and Tang San’s pursuit to Zhao Wuji 36 37 39.

Grandmaster’s Training and the Soul Fighting Arena

As the group’s highest-level student, Dai Mubai is selected to begin Grandmaster’s practical combat assessment. He loses to a restricted Tang San, then struggles against Ma Hongjun and Oscar’s aerial cooperation. The subsequent weighted run makes teamwork compulsory; he and Tang San take turns carrying the heaviest loads 47 48.

Three months of training improve his explosive power. At the Soul Fighting Arena, he stops Mad Rhino from touching Zhu Zhuqing’s mask and matches the opposing captain’s punch. He later serves as Shrek’s front-line fighter against Mad Rhino and Yu Tianheng 52 53 55.

At the end of the arena training, he celebrates the group as the Shrek Eight Monsters. He has reached level thirty-nine and earned a Silver Soul Badge, but remains at that level through the following two months 57 58.

Immortal Herb and Tournament Preparation

When Tang San’s group returns, Dai Mubai has reached level forty-three. Tang San gives him the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, selected for its compatibility with the White Tiger Martial Soul. Absorbing it raises him to level forty-six 70 71 72.

Grandmaster identifies him as the student most likely to reach level fifty before the tournament. Dai Mubai succeeds seven days before the event and obtains his Fifth Soul Ring the next morning 77 78.

Shrek keeps him out of the preliminary matches to conceal its Soul King trump card. While his teammates compete, he helps Flender sell Shrek-branded soap. The preliminary rewards grant the team captain and vice captain viscount titles 79 82 87 88.

Confronting Star Luo Royal Academy

Dai Mubai requests permission to fight Star Luo Royal Academy, describing the match as a confrontation with the destiny he once escaped. He declines Wang Xingyu’s offer of the three-person fusion skill, intending to resolve the battle through his own fusion with Zhu Zhuqing 95.

Against his elder brother Dai Weisi, he reveals his black Fifth Soul Ring and eventually gains the upper hand through White Tiger Demon God Transformation and White Tiger Meteor Shower. Both pairs then form Hell White Tigers, with Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing’s fusion ultimately prevailing 96.

Rather than deliver a fatal blow, Dai Mubai rejects the cycle of brothers killing one another. His declaration of self-determination coincides with the Hell White Tiger gaining wings. Shrek wins the match 96 97.

Final Matches and Plans for Star Luo

Afterward, Dai Mubai privately invites Tang San, Wang Xingyu, and Xiao Wu to return with him and Zhu Zhuqing to the Star Luo Empire. He offers Tang San protection from Spirit Hall and asks the group to help him ascend the throne. Wang Xingyu declines the proposed role of imperial strategist, saying their ambitions extend beyond a single empire 97.

In the final, Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing use their winged Hell White Tiger against Spirit Hall Academy’s Evil Blade Lord. At the prize presentation, he yields the captain’s place to Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Wang Xingyu in recognition of their contributions 98 100.
