Background / History

Transmigration and Holy Soul Village

Wang Xingyu dies one day before his thesis submission deadline and awakens in the body of a starving five-year-old with the same name. The original child’s parents reportedly died after encountering a Soul Beast in the mountains, leaving Old Jack to provide what food he could spare. Tang San prevents Wang Xingyu from eating a poisonous plant and directs him toward edible wild onion bulbs. Initially overwhelmed by hunger and the loss of his former life, Wang Xingyu cries before resolving to start living properly 1 2.

He experiments with grease scraps, plant ash, and lime until he successfully makes soap. Sales provide money for food and later cultivation expenses. When production begins consuming too much of his and Tang San’s time, he teaches three village women the process and entrusts organization to Old Jack 3 4.

Wang Xingyu also cultivates relationships with Ma Xiunuo and Su Yuntao, initially giving them soap to make himself familiar at the Spirit Hall branch. He repeatedly studies its introductory Martial Soul books and shares what he learns with Tang San 3 4.

Choosing the Life System

After awakening Blue Silver Grass with level-three Innate Soul Power, Wang Xingyu chooses support, healing, and recovery as his development priorities. He advises Tang San to combine Blue Silver Grass control with offensive power and warns him to conceal his second Martial Soul 4 5.

His knowledge of Tang San’s family places him on Tang San’s side against Spirit Hall. Nevertheless, he recognizes Spirit Hall’s services to commoners and distinguishes those responsible for Tang San’s mother’s death from its ordinary members. He commits to helping Tang San and building an organization better than Spirit Hall 6 8.

Wang Xingyu then tests a plant-based cultivation method: rooting Blue Silver Grass in the soil and connecting it to nearby plants. Tang San subsequently teaches him the Mysterious Heaven Skill, giving him a cultivation technique to combine with this connection 8.

Nuoding Academy

Wang Xingyu pays his own tuition and lets Tang San take Holy Soul Village’s work-study place. He nevertheless requests a transfer into Dorm Seven, where he joins Tang San and Xiao Wu. At the academy entrance, he forces a guard to apologize for accusing their Spirit Hall certificates of being forged and challenges Yu Xiaogang’s assumptions about Tang San’s Martial Soul 9 10 11.

He helps choose Tang San’s Iron Thorn Vine First Soul Ring and supplies Soul Power during the hunt. Later, he supports Tang San against Xiao Chenyu’s group, exhausting his own reserves in the process. Meanwhile, his soap business expands into nearby towns through Ma Xiunuo’s management 13 14 16 17.

After obtaining Life Drain, Wang Xingyu becomes sworn siblings with Tang San and Xiao Wu, taking the youngest position. The three name their future organization the Tang Sect and develop the Triangle Cycle, which improves their cultivation and eventually allows them to share the pressure of thousand-year Second Soul Rings 19 20 21 22 24 25.

Shrek Academy and Arena Training

Following graduation, Wang Xingyu chooses Shrek as the trio’s next destination. During its entrance test, he combines his Blue Silver Grass with Tang San’s vines to drain Zhao Wuji’s Soul Power and support the team’s attacks 25 28 29.

At the Great Soul Arena, Wang Xingyu wins a solo match by repeatedly draining a stronger hammer-wielding opponent while keeping his distance. He also wins a two-on-two match alongside Ma Hongjun, feeding drained Soul Power directly to his partner. Afterward, he draws off Ma Hongjun’s Evil Fire, stabilizing him but burning his own palm 33.

Wang Xingyu proposes training under Zhao Wuji’s Gravity Enhancement. The trio discovers that cultivating afterward improves the Triangle Cycle’s circulation, prompting Flender to add gravity training to Shrek’s daily curriculum 35.

Forest Expedition and Tang Sect Recruitment

During the forest expedition, Wang Xingyu proposes a duel between Tang San and Meng Yiran to settle ownership of Oscar’s prospective Soul Ring. He later asks Tang Hao for the Blue Silver Emperor’s Soul Bone, but Tang Hao refuses because it belongs to Tang San as his mother’s bequest 37 40.

After being taken with Xiao Wu by the Titan Giant Ape, Wang Xingyu returns unharmed. He intercepts Meng Yiran’s attempted kiss with his Tang Sect fan, counting her kiss on the fan as fulfillment of her wager with Tang San. His knowledge of the Sky Azure Bull Python subsequently draws Xiao Wu’s questions 41 42.

Back at the academy, Yu Xiaogang credits Wang Xingyu’s advice about feeding Luo Sanpao dragon-type Soul Beast flesh and training alongside him for their improvement. Both Xiaogang and Flender bow in gratitude. After the students complete three months of training, Wang Xingyu invites his companions into the Tang Sect and gives each a fan bearing its name 45 50.

Appearance

  • Hair: Black 20.
  • Early build: Small and thin during his childhood in Holy Soul Village 4.
  • Early clothing: Coarse village clothes 10.
  • Recurring accessory: A folding fan, which he frequently waves, snaps shut, or uses to conceal his face 26 30 45.

Personality

Wang Xingyu is practical and resourceful, using soap production to escape hunger and finance cultivation. He delegates manufacturing rather than let it consume his training time, builds useful relationships through inexpensive gifts, and studies Martial Soul theory persistently 3 4 17.

He is loyal without treating friendship as a reason for indiscriminate hostility. Although he chooses Tang San’s side against Spirit Hall, he explicitly argues that revenge should target the people responsible rather than everyone in the organization. His gratitude toward Old Jack and Ma Xiunuo likewise shapes whom he trusts with his livelihood 4 6 17.

His humor often comes from knowledge of the original story, online jokes, and his attempts to encourage Tang San and Xiao Wu’s relationship. That confidence has limits: he is frightened by Tang Hao’s presence, embarrassed when his matchmaking backfires, and visibly flustered by sincere public gratitude 7 11 21 45.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass — Life System

Wang Xingyu develops Blue Silver Grass as a network for sensing, transferring energy, and sustaining allies 5 8 14.

  • Rooted cultivation: Connects his Martial Soul to surrounding Blue Silver Grass, improving cultivation efficiency 8 15.
  • Environmental sensing: Detects nearby roots and small insects through a hazy underground network; its early range is too small for practical combat use 14.
  • Soul Power transfer: Reinforces Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass before obtaining his First Soul Ring, though this can nearly empty his own reserves 14 15 16 17.
  • Physical weakness: Opponents can snap his grass, requiring him to grow replacement strands during combat 33.

Mysterious Heaven Skill

Tang San teaches Wang Xingyu its mnemonic and circulation route. Wang Xingyu memorizes the essentials quickly and practices its first level with his initially sparse level-three Soul Power 8.

  • Works alongside his rooted Blue Silver Grass cultivation 9 15.
  • Automatically circulates during his First Soul Ring absorption, guiding the incoming Soul Power through his body 19.
