The Soul Fighting Arena Concluded
We won!
As soon as the seven men stepped off the ring, Oscar rushed over from the stands.
Ma Hongjun opened his arms and gave him a big hug. The two jumped and danced, "We won! We won! Did you see that? Fatty's Phoenix Fire Line burned that Shi Mo's tortoise shell black!"
Oscar patted him hard on the back, "I saw it! I saw it! We're absolutely amazing!"
The eight people returned to the lounge together. The Grandmaster was already waiting at the exit. He walked in first, pushed open the door, and stepped aside to let the group in. Flender and Zhao Wuji were already waiting inside.
Standing next to Flender was a man in his thirties, tall and refined-looking, wearing the teacher's robe of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy, whose demeanor was completely different from the rough and tough teachers of Shrek Academy.
Flender cleared his throat and gestured to the man beside him. "Let me introduce you, this is Qin Ming, the team leader from the Heaven Dou Royal Academy."
He paused, a hint of barely suppressed pride in his voice, "Also an outstanding graduate of our Shrek. Thirty-four years old, a level sixty-two Soul Emperor, the second youngest Soul Emperor on the entire continent—a true genius."
Qin Ming bowed slightly, his tone gentle and earnest. "Dean Flender is too kind. Compared to these children, they are the true geniuses."
His gaze swept over the group of masked teenagers holding folding fans in the lounge, his expression sincere and resolute. "At their age, I was far from possessing their current strength."
Flender burst into laughter, his voice shaking the window frames of the lounge. "So—our academy only accepts monsters, and that's no empty promise!"
Xiao Wu leaned closer to Wang Xingyu, lowered her voice, and asked curiously, "Who's the youngest one?" Wang Xingyu unfolded his fan to cover his mouth, "Tang Hao."
Xiao Wu blinked after hearing this and whispered, "Wow, the same name as Third Brother's dad."
Soon the group moved to the largest hotel in Suotuo City.
Qin Ming treated everyone to a private room on the second floor, which was the largest room available for booking. The Eight Eccentrics sat around a large table, while Flender, Zhao Wuji, and the Grandmaster sat at a small table next to Qin Ming, seemingly to discuss something.
The main table was piled high with chicken, duck, fish, and meat. Ma Hongjun's chopsticks were practically blurring through the air as he swung them around. Oscar, while stuffing a chicken leg into his mouth, mumbled, "Fatty, leave some for me."
After a few rounds of drinks, Dai Mubai stood up, holding his wine glass. His gaze swept over the faces on both sides of the long table, still flushed from the fierce battle, and a rare smile appeared on his lips. "A toast to the Silver Soul Fighter, a toast to the Shrek Eight Monsters," he raised his glass.
Everyone stood up in unison, and the clinking of glasses filled the air.
The month-long Soul Fighting Training has come to an end today. Everyone received Silver Soul Badge, and Tang San even received Gold Soul Fighting Badge.
Dai Mubai level 39, Tang San Xiao Wu are level 34, Oscar level 33, Ma Hongjun level 29, Zhu Zhuqing is level 29, Ning Rongrong is level 28, and Wang Xingyu is level 27.
When everyone returned to the Shrek Academy, it was already dark. A month of intense training in Soul Fighting had made everyone lose weight.
The Grandmaster stood on the playground and announced a two-month break, allowing everyone to properly digest the Soul Fighting experience gained over the past month. After two months, they would have to go to a new place.
Flender stood to the side, hands behind his back, his face expressionless. Unusually, he didn't interrupt, nor did he meticulously calculate the food expenses for the past two months. He simply stood there quietly, his gaze fixed on the distant playground, lost in thought.
Everyone dispersed. Ma Hongjun pulled Wang Xingyu to a crooked tree by the playground and asked in a low voice, "Brother Yu, why is the dean so sullen? He's usually the first to cheer when a holiday is announced, but today he looks like he's lost money."
Wang Xingyu thought for a moment. Right, I almost forgot. In the original story Flender was indeed not in a good mood at this time— Shrek wanted to join the Heaven Dou Royal Academy, which required mimicry training and participation in the Soul Master Tournament.
Giving away his hard work was more painful for Flender than having his pay docked.
"But I have a script," Wang Xingyu said, turning to Ma Hongjun. "I have a way to make the dean happy."
"Really?" Ma Hongjun's eyes lit up.
Wang Xingyu nodded. "If you really make the dean happy, you'll treat me to meals for a month."
It's a deal!
Wang Xingyu pushed open the door to Flender's office. Flender was sitting behind his desk with an account book spread out in front of him, but his eyes weren't even on the book.
Hearing the door open, he looked up, his long face regaining its usual businesslike expression. "What do you want?"
"Is the Dean unhappy because he's going to join the Heaven Dou Royal Academy?"
Flender frowned. "The Grandmaster told you? Why does this guy tell you everything?"
"It wasn't the Grandmaster who said it, but you can guess. And who said it isn't important; what's important is that I have a better way."
Flender leaned back in his chair, staring at him. "What method?"
"If this method works, you have to grant me one request."
Flender frowned again, but this time he didn't hesitate. "You helped Xiaogang, so logically I can agree to your request now. Tell me, what's your demand? The condition is that it can't violate morality."
"Let's not talk about it now, but it certainly won't violate any morals, and it won't be difficult for you to do." Wang Xingyu closed his fan and tapped it in his palm. "There's an academy in Heaven Dou City called Blue Tyrant Academy. The dean's surname is Liu, and his name is Liu Erlong."
Flender jumped up from his chair, the chair legs scraping against the wooden floor with a piercing screech. "What?!"
Realizing he had lost his composure, he took a deep breath, sat back down, leaned forward, and whispered, "Are you serious? Erlong really opened an academy?"
"Yes, it's in Heaven Dou City."
Flender stared into his eyes for a long time, then leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh.
The office was quiet for a while, with only the faint chirping of insects outside the window. Flender's lips twitched, then twitched again, and finally, he couldn't suppress the slight upward curve of his lips.
"Your request—we'll discuss that later. Now, tell me, what exactly is this Blue Tyrant Academy all about?"
"You'll have to investigate that yourself. All I know is that such an academy exists." Wang Xingyu shook his fan. "You'll find out exactly where it is once you go there yourself."
Flender calmed himself down and nodded. "Whether this news is true or false, it shows your sincerity. You can bring up the request you promised earlier anytime."
Then the two walked out of the office together. Ma Hongjun was leaning against the crooked tree waiting when he saw Flender walk out with a beaming smile, his mouth agape as if he could fit an egg in it. After Flender had gone some distance, he immediately went up to Wang Xingyu and nudged him with his elbow.
"The dean seems like a completely different person; you actually managed to handle it, Brother Yu."
"Of course."
Ma Hongjun swallowed hard. Wang Xingyu closed his fan. "Remember to provide meals for a month. Just steamed buns won't do."
Ma Hongjun's face immediately fell, but he quickly straightened his chest and patted it, "Fatty keeps his word, you'll get plenty of food for a month."
