Background / History
Mission against Su Tianyu
Wang Shan was the eldest son of Wang Tianba, head of Heaven Lake City’s baronial Wang Family, and the father of Wang Lei. He took pride in his son’s cultivation talent and expected him to become a Soul King. Wang Tianba regarded Wang Lei as the family’s hope of rising beyond its baronial standing and ordered Wang Shan and his younger brothers to protect him 4 13.
After Su Tianyu defeated Wang Lei in Heaven Lake Intermediate Academy’s tournament, he claimed the spiritual milk that the Wang Family had expected Wang Lei to win. Wang Shan resented losing the resource intended to help his son reach rank twenty. Wang Tianba chose him to kill Su Tianyu specifically because his mutated Blood Rat Martial Soul excelled at scent tracking 4.
Defeat and Death
Wang Shan followed Su Tianyu’s scent from Heaven Lake City to his campsite near Heavenly Eye Forest, despite Su Tianyu’s efforts to conceal his tracks. Detecting a figure in the grass, he pretended to be enraged by the attempted ambush and attacked with Blood Rat Heart-Piercing Claw. The target was an illusion created by Su Tianyu’s Golden Pupil Illusory Realm 3.
Trapped in an illusory mire, Wang Shan tried to break the domain with Void Rat Shadows, but his strongest attack failed to damage its barrier. Su Tianyu struck him with spiritual power, then dragged his soul into a black space. Wang Shan begged for his life and offered to betray the Wang Family. Su Tianyu instead tortured him, searched his memories, and destroyed his soul 3 4.
Aftermath
Su Tianyu took Wang Shan’s Storage Soul Tool and three thousand Gold Soul Coins, then threw his corpse and discarded belongings into a Wind Demon Wolves’ den. The memories extracted from Wang Shan revealed the Wang Family’s motives, guard arrangements, and a concealed entrance to its residence, enabling Su Tianyu’s later infiltration 4 5 10.
Wang Hu recognized Su Tianyu’s return as evidence that Wang Shan had been killed after failing to return for two months. Wang Tianba remained unaware of his eldest son’s fate when Su Tianyu confronted him 11 13.
Appearance
- Ordinary appearance: A middle-aged man; no further untransformed physical description is given 3.
- Martial Soul Possession: Develops fine mouse whiskers, sharp rat claws in place of his hands, and two pointed front teeth exposed by the outward turn of his mouth 3.
- Soul Rings: Three rings appear beneath his feet in white, yellow, and purple order 3.
Personality
Wang Shan was proud of his son and deeply resentful of Su Tianyu’s tournament victory. He treated the spiritual milk as a treasure that rightfully belonged to Wang Lei and confidently assured his father that killing a student who had only just reached rank twenty would be easy 4.
He combined arrogance with deception, feigning outrage to disguise his confidence that he had located Su Tianyu’s hiding place. Once his attacks proved ineffective, however, he descended into panic and despair. His willingness to help destroy his own family in exchange for survival showed the limits of his loyalty 3 4.
