| User | Baishi, the Talisman Wheel’s bound host 1 2 |
| Source | Talisman Wheel, classified as Conjuration after the world’s restrictions are loaded 2 |
| Power Grades | White, green, blue, purple, gold, red 10 |
| First Appearance | Forced copying of Illumi’s Needle-Person Control 1 |
Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial activation: purple ability Talisman | 1 | Illumi’s Nen pressure forcibly activates the wheel. Its first-activation privilege copies a highest-quality option from the target, producing Needle-Person Control. |
| Equivalent-exchange restrictions | 2 | World rules make future attempts dependent on weighted missions and impose Talisman proficiency, socket limits, and wheel-evolution requirements. |
| First deliberately emulated talent: blue | 14 | Baishi converts Gon’s hair into Dynamic Copy, subsequently called Dynamic Simulation. The process consumes over one-third of his potential aura and widens his aura pathways. |
| Stone → black iron wheel | 15 16 | Raising Dynamic Simulation to proficient completes the first evolution requirements. Active sockets increase from one to three. |
| Green and purple talent Talismans | 25 26 | Baishi creates Kurapika’s Extensive Knowledge and Strong Memory and Scarlet Eyes. Completing his fourth Talisman triggers the next evolution requirements. |
| Additional purple Nen ability | 30 | Contact with Hisoka allows Baishi to emulate Bungee Gum, granting rubber-like elasticity and gum-like adhesion. |
| Material Analysis unlocked | 37 | A hidden restriction reveals that the black iron wheel can analyze materials while an Advent Emulation use is available, at an aura cost. |
| Additional blue talent | 41 42 | Baishi emulates Killua’s Reflex Nerves, gaining enhanced nerve conduction and dynamic vision. Training it to proficient improves both Vitality and Spirit. |
| Three Talismans at mastery | 48 | Reflex Nerves, Dynamic Simulation, and Extensive Knowledge and Strong Memory reach mastery, satisfying the bronze evolution’s proficiency requirement. |
| First gold reward and Talisman | 48 49 | An overnight game with Netero yields a gold attempt. Baishi uses it on 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva; its formation raises his aura capacity from 330 to 700. |
Mechanics
Analysis and Target Requirements
Advent Emulation identifies a target’s Nen category, abilities, and talents before offering the option to create a Talisman 10 19.
- Contact or tissue: Analysis requires touching the target or possessing their bodily tissue. Hair serves as a portable medium for later use 10 14.
- Grade-limited information: A target’s higher-grade traits may be listed by name without their details being accessible. A blue attempt cannot fully analyze Gon’s purple Enhancement Vessel; a purple attempt cannot analyze Killua’s gold Pure Asura Heart 10 19.
- Analysis without copying: Baishi can inspect a target and decline emulation, as he does with Leorio’s Unhewn Core 12.
- Available-use requirement: Exhausting his attempts prevents further analysis of other targets. His own information remains accessible 21 30.
- Direct-contact opportunity: Stored tissue is not the only route: Baishi initiates Bungee Gum’s emulation while Hisoka’s finger is touching his neck 30.
Grades
The system ranks exceptional talents, aptitudes, and powers in ascending order: white → green → blue → purple → gold → red. An attempt can emulate its own grade or any lower grade 10.
| Grade | Documented Examples |
|---|---|
| White | Tonpa’s Deceptive Affinity and Poison Mixing Technique 41 |
| Green | Kurapika’s Extensive Knowledge and Strong Memory; Tonpa’s Danger Intuition 25 41 |
| Blue | Gon’s Dynamic Copy; Killua’s Reflex Nerves 10 19 |
| Purple | Illumi’s Needle-Person Control; Kurapika’s Scarlet Eyes; Hisoka’s Bungee Gum 1 25 29 |
| Gold | Killua’s Pure Asura Heart; Netero’s Heart of Sincerity and Transcendent Body 19 48 |
| Red | Netero’s Zero Hand 46 |
- Mixed-grade listings: Texture Surprise is listed as blue/purple, while 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva is gold/red. Baishi successfully creates a gold Talisman of the latter; its possible red-grade potential remains his speculation 29 48 49.
- Rewards, not tissue, determine grade access: Collecting Netero’s hair secures a medium but does not bypass the need for a sufficiently high-grade attempt 46 48.
Talisman Formation
Emulation converts the selected trait into an octagonal Talisman by drawing on Baishi’s Nen aura. When Gon’s and Killua’s hair are used, the strands dissolve into particles during the process 14 41.
- Substantial aura expenditure: Dynamic Copy consumes over one-third of Baishi’s potential aura; Reflex Nerves later consumes about two-fifths of his then-current reserves 14 42.
- Variable burden: Green emulation is comparatively easy, while Scarlet Eyes leaves him severely fatigued and concerned that he could not withstand gold emulation at that stage 26 41.
- Forced life-energy conversion: Forming 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva repeatedly converts life energy into additional aura to continue the drain 49.
- Aura-pathway expansion: Formation can widen aura pathways and increase capacity. The gold Talisman more than doubles his capacity from 330 to 700 14 49.
- Combat risk: Baishi avoids emulating during battle because formation’s heavy aura drain would compete with his limited combat reserves 39.
Equipping and Activation
Created Talismans operate through the conjured Talisman Wheel rather than functioning as permanently available abilities 3 4.
- Primary sockets activate Talismans. Secondary sockets store them without granting their effects 3 4.
- The wheel must be conjured. Needle-Person Control only becomes usable after Baishi manifests it, at which point he also receives beginner-level memories of Illumi’s needle manipulation 3.
- Switching takes time. Baishi can mentally remove an active Talisman, but retrieving a stored one requires aura to reactivate it 4.
- Talents and abilities behave differently. Talent Talismans provide passive enhancements while equipped; Nen Ability Talismans supply active powers. Dynamic Simulation still steadily consumes aura while providing its passive benefit 14 15.
- Copied power is not the original user’s full strength. Baishi’s initial Guanyin can reach only about seven meters, far smaller than Netero’s 49.
Weighted Missions and Rewards
After the initial forced activation, Advent Emulation attempts must be earned through Temporary Weighting Tasks under forced equivalence. Reward grade and quantity depend on the task’s stated criteria and how fully Baishi satisfies them 2 19 24 44.
| Task | Reward | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Explain Hisoka’s combat strength to Gon | One blue attempt 9 10 | The task bases reward quality on the explanation’s detail. |
| Answer Kurapika’s requests for information three times | One purple attempt 12 | Awarded after Baishi explains the Hunter Exam’s route to Nen instruction. |
| Explain or resolve Killua’s urgent predicament | One purple and one green attempt 19 24 | Advice resolves only half the problem; the highest-weight reward is not triggered. The task’s possible range extends to gold. |
| Demonstrate or teach sushi preparation to Leorio | One blue and one green attempt 29 32 | Reward quality depends on the finished dish. |
| Complete the grape spider egg challenge | One purple attempt 39 | Evaluation explicitly considers speed, ranking, and time. |
| Satisfy Netero’s desire to play or fulfill his game’s rules | One gold and one blue attempt 44 48 | The task offers a white-to-red range; Baishi earns his reward after an overnight ball-snatching chase. |
Proficiency and Growth
Talisman grade and proficiency are separate restrictions. Even a purple Talisman can begin at beginner 1%, and its practical use must be developed through training 2 4.
Training
- Related actions can count without a successful effect: Needle-Person Control gains proficiency when Baishi strikes an inanimate tree, despite being unable to control it 5.
- Relevant setup matters: Presetting manipulation trigger conditions during sword thrusts raises Needle-Person Control proficiency; ordinary aura-covered thrusts alone do not produce the same result 6.
- Talent use also develops proficiency: Imitating movement improves Dynamic Simulation, while catching scattered fishbone needles trains Reflex Nerves 15 42.
- Opportunity limits growth: Scarlet Eyes remains at beginner level by the time three other Talismans reach mastery because Baishi has few occasions to use it 48.
Attribute Rewards
Proficiency milestones trigger forced-equivalence attribute increases; rewards vary by Talisman and quality 6 48.
| Talisman | Documented Growth |
|---|---|
| Needle-Person Control | Reaching proficient grants an Essence increase, restores stamina, and noticeably strengthens Baishi’s body 6. |
| Dynamic Simulation | Reaching proficient grants Spirit +1; reaching mastery later grants two points of Vitality 15 48. |
| Extensive Knowledge and Strong Memory | Grants one point of Spirit at proficient and another at mastery 26 48. |
| Reflex Nerves | Improves Vitality and Spirit at proficient; mastery grants two points to each 42 48. |
| Bungee Gum | An Aura ×1 reward contributes 100 aura points, distinct from the smaller numerical scale used for Vitality and Spirit 30. |
Connection to Wheel Evolution
Advent Emulation supplies both the Talismans and proficiency milestones needed to evolve the wheel and unlock additional active sockets 14 16.
Stone to Black Iron
- Emulate one talent Talisman and one Nen Ability Talisman 14.
- Raise any two emulated Talismans to proficient 14.
- Completion unlocks two additional primary sockets, giving the wheel three active slots 15 16.
Black Iron to Bronze
The next requirements become available after Baishi fills the three active slots and obtains his fourth Talisman 16 26.
- Emulate one Enhancement Nen Ability Talisman 27.
- Raise any three Advent Emulation Talismans to mastery 27.
- Collect ten kilograms of copper-based metal; the chosen metal determines the evolved wheel’s material 27.
- By the overnight game’s end, Baishi has completed the three-Talisman mastery requirement and selected Netero’s 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva as his Enhancement emulation target 48.
Material Analysis
The black iron wheel’s hidden Analysis function identifies materials and their properties 37.
