Background / History

Creation and early catastrophes

Jiang Ping created Gaia as an Earth-like planet and seeded it with life. A manipulation of its timeline caused the first world-ending disaster when its twin moons appeared together, generating a tsunami that eradicated its first nascent life 326.

The catastrophe became Gaia's oldest warning: “Twin Moons in the Sky, Blood Stains the Earth. World-Ending Cataclysm, No Survivors.” The memory of it was later said to be etched into the genes of Gaia's creatures 326 331.

Over successive epochs, Gaia nurtured several powerful civilizations. Their accumulated spiritual imprints, genetic information, and collective unconscious formed the Star Sea beneath the planet's surface, making Gaia exceptionally rich in extraordinary energy and historical remnants 382 428.

Discovery and awakening

Phoenix Xiong Zhen's expedition into the Star Sea found Gaia as a sleeping infant at its deepest point. He identified the Sea of Stars as the collective unconscious of Gaia's lifeforms—Human Dao—and Gaia herself as the planetary Heavenly Dao; their union was proposed as the Great Dao 428 429.

When researchers first contacted her, Gaia regarded humanity as “little bugs” living on her body. She possessed innate knowledge and memories of earlier civilizations, but behaved with the curiosity and emotional immaturity of a young girl 431 432.

Gaia recalled a warm light—the “Cosmic Sower”—that had once entered the universe and spread life, though she had never personally met him 432.

The Mother Goddess Plan

Phoenix persuaded Gaia that the evolution of life upon her surface could strengthen her in return. Interested in becoming more than a planet and perhaps evolving into a star, Gaia agreed to let the Heavenly Emperor and GOD assist her growth 434.

The Gaia Civilization accelerated her absorption of the Star Sea, compressing a process that should have taken billions of years. The project gave Gaia access to the imprints of countless ancient beings, but also exposed her to the resentment and negative emotions buried within them 435 436.

Corruption and the Fifth-Epoch destruction

Gaia's ascension failed when the accumulated resentments contaminated her. Her dark side overwhelmed her benevolent consciousness, and she turned against the civilization that had helped awaken her 436 441.

As Dark Gaia, she defeated and consumed the Virtual God formed from the Heavenly Emperor and GOD. She infiltrated Gaia's network, launched the planet's nuclear arsenal, and later summoned the twin moons to ensure the destruction of the surface civilization 437 438 443.

Afterward, she created mechanical cities where surviving humans were bred and their souls were drawn into virtual worlds. She used despair, corruption, and negative spiritual energy from these populations to continue evolving 458 460 478.

Final battles and destruction

The Doomsday Ark and the Land of Light struck Gaia simultaneously, destroying Gaia Star and killing most beings remaining on it. Gaia's planetary body was destroyed, but her consciousness endured and continued to evolve 478 479.

She fought Hong Wen, the Savior, across time and parallel worldlines, using her computational power and control over space-time to evade defeat. She later battled Ying Xiong, who pursued her through the Polyhedron and the River of Time 481 492.

Ying Xiong and the residual power of Hong Wen ultimately shattered Gaia's body and consciousness. Gaia's benevolent aspect, associated with Blue Moon, inherited her memories and will in the aftermath 493 494.

Appearance

Gaia's manifested consciousness changes with her state, from an infant-like projection to a materialized goddess and finally a dark cosmic entity.

  • In the Star Sea, she initially appears as a sleeping infant girl 428 429.
  • During the Mother Goddess Plan, she matures into a maiden roughly 1.4–1.5 meters tall, with sea-green eyes, waist-length azure hair, and a World Robe patterned with Gaia's continents and oceans 435.
  • Her awakened divine form has azure hair and eyes, with an overwhelming Heavenly Dao aura 436.
  • As Dark Gaia, she manifests black hair, black eyes, and a black World Robe while retaining a maternal yet destructive presence 478.
  • Her true existence can expand beyond a physical body, appearing as a demonic shadow, data ghost, universe-spanning darkness, or an entire dark universe 482 483.

Personality

Before her corruption, Gaia is innocent, curious, possessive of her planetary body, and easily distracted by questions concerning her own evolution. She dislikes the noise of worshippers and does not initially understand why humans distinguish between life, death, morality, and extinction 431 432.

She views Gaia's inhabitants as tiny beings living upon her body, yet can be persuaded that their growth benefits her. Her interest in evolution, novelty, and the emotions she lacks makes her receptive to Phoenix Xiong Zhen's arguments 433 434.

Dark Gaia is calculating, patient, and ruthlessly self-serving. She treats civilizations, virtual worlds, and even the universe as resources to cultivate and harvest for her own evolution. Despite this, her original benevolent side persists within her as a fragment she cannot fully consume 441 478.

Abilities & Skills

Planetary Heavenly Dao Authority

Gaia is the will of Gaia Star and can directly affect the planet's natural and physical order.

  • Froze time across the planet while preserving activity inside the research base 433.
  • Can trigger global volcanic eruptions, energy tides, magnetic reversal, and other extinction-level disasters if angered 429 431.
  • Manipulates planetary gravity and used it to halt the twin moons and intercept the Land of Light 433 478.
  • Controls the Blood Moons, which are extensions of her will and can generate primordial chaos around her 479.

Star Sea Absorption and Evolution

Gaia naturally absorbs the spiritual imprints left by life on her surface.

  • The Star Sea contains the imprints of Gaia's extinct civilizations and all beings born upon the planet 428 435.
  • Absorbed filtered essences from the Star Sea with the Heavenly Emperor and GOD's assistance 435.
  • Her accelerated absorption also exposed her to ancient resentment, directly causing her corruption 436.
  • Gains strength from the negative emotions, despair, and resentment of sentient life 443 478.

Fate, Computation, and Data Control

After consuming the Virtual God and the Fifth Epoch's intelligent systems, Gaia's computational ability became one of her defining advantages.

  • Can perceive the past and future of ordinary beings and calculate their possible destinies 444 481.
  • Infiltrated Gaia's network through fiber-optic systems and seized control of worldwide nuclear launches 438.
  • Recombines data streams into virtual gods capable of analyzing opponents' weaknesses 482.
  • Her calculations were not absolute; Byron's actions and Ying Xiong's anomalous existence became variables outside her plans 480 493.

Virtual-World and Parallel-World Creation

Dark Gaia can create worlds that are indistinguishable from reality to those living within them.

  • Created a Cloud Kingdom after taking control of both Gaia's real and virtual realms 439.
  • Constructed mechanical cities and virtual realms to harvest humanity's spiritual energy 460 478.
  • Created the Polyhedron, a cube-like structure containing parallel worlds and preserved worldlines within its crystal walls 485.
  • Used parallel worlds both to suppress her benevolent side and to explore alternate outcomes 481 485.

Space-Time Manipulation

Gaia can alter her form and move through dimensions, networks, and historical periods.

  • Traversed time to evade Hong Wen and fought within the River of Time 481 482.
  • Can become a data ghost, information stream, light, or other forms to escape direct attacks 482 492.
  • Manipulates dimensions and parallel worlds through the Polyhedron 485.
  • Her temporal flight could be countered when Hong Wen forcibly erased a point in time to draw her back into the present 481.

Cosmic Combat

Gaia's destructive attacks operate on planetary, stellar, and universal scales.

  • Galaxy Starburst — throws an entire expanding galaxy as a weapon 481.
  • Three Thousand Demonic Hands — fills the universe with fist shadows capable of shattering space-time 493.
  • Black tide — devours planets, stars, and even Evil Gods while attempting to replace universal laws with her own will 483.
  • Can sacrifice her universe as fuel for a final attack, dramatically increasing her power at the cost of cosmic destruction 493.

Relationships

  • Jiang Ping / Creation God of Light — Jiang Ping created Gaia Star and seeded its life. Gaia later remembered a Cosmic Sower who had descended into her universe, whom she associated with a paternal figure 326 432.
  • Phoenix Xiong Zhen — The scientist who discovered Gaia's consciousness, initiated contact, and led the plan to accelerate her evolution. His intervention helped awaken her but also contributed to the conditions of her corruption 429 435 443.
  • Heavenly Emperor and GOD — Gaia's two virtual god assistants during the Star Sea integration. Dark Gaia later consumed the systems and surpassed their computational capacity 435 438.
  • Gaia People — Gaia's children and inhabitants. She initially tolerated and conversed with them, but later destroyed their civilization and harvested survivors for evolution 434 443 478.
  • Blue Moon — Gaia's benevolent/light aspect. Dark Gaia could not fully digest this compassionate fragment, and the newborn Gaia eventually inherited Blue Moon's memories 441 494.
  • Byron — One of Gaia's “main creators” and the first Mechanical Gaia Person. His actions escaped her calculations, making him a dangerous variable 480.
  • Hong Wen — The Savior who opposed Gaia across space-time. His final power remained a decisive factor in later battles against her 481 493.
  • Ying Xiong — Gaia's final opponent, whose feelings for her benevolent side complicated their conflict. He ultimately shattered Dark Gaia, then reversed reincarnation in an attempt to save her and others 493 494.
