Background / History
Locke Fergus was born in a remote Midgard village with innate divine strength. His name, Fergus, means “great strength” and “courage” in the Hill language. From childhood, he was guided by the mysterious Shepherd, whom he regarded as his teacher. 234 235
At three, Locke questioned why humans were required to worship Deities after witnessing a public execution by the Holy Army. His early dreams changed repeatedly: he first wished to become the bravest warrior, then a city lord, and later imagined a peaceful life with Mary. 235 237
As a child, Locke’s strength already made him exceptional. He wrestled down the village’s strongest bull, entered dark fighting competitions at eight, and defeated adult fighters and Magical Beasts alike. His reputation as “Mighty Locke” drew the Holy See’s attention. 235 236
On his tenth birthday, the Shepherd sent him to kill the Nemean Giant Lion. Locke learned during the journey that the Gods had conquered and oppressed humanity, then defeated the supposedly invulnerable lion through strategy, bare-handed combat, and its own claws. Consuming the lion’s flesh awakened his Power of Earth. 236 237
After completing further trials—including defeating the Hydra—Locke resolved that he wanted not merely a peaceful life, but the power to change the world. By fifteen, he had completed five trials and become a legendary fugitive pursued by Midgard’s churches. 237 239 251
Appearance
Locke grew from a chubby, potbellied child into a solidly built and determined youth. By the Titan competition, he stood roughly two meters tall; despite being far smaller than the Giants, his physique and presence commanded their attention. 235 259
- Dark eyes as an infant. 234
- Broad, muscular build shaped by innate divine strength and continual combat. 235 253
- Former baby fat gave way to a dependable, determined appearance by age nine. 235
- Often wore the hide of the Nemean Giant Lion after his first trial. 237
- During the final war, fought inside the scarlet, blood-stained Savior mecha. 291 293
Personality
Locke was curious, strong-willed, and unwilling to accept religious authority without understanding it. His questions about the Gods began in childhood and developed into a conviction that humans should not live under divine oppression. 235 236
He combined immense confidence with practical combat intelligence. Although he believed in the power of his fists, he credited the Shepherd’s teachings for helping him overcome opponents that strength alone could not defeat. 236 237
His ambitions were vast: he wanted power, love, and the world itself. Yet after viewing possible futures through the Fate Tree, he chose to distance himself from Mary rather than expose her to the coming war. This decision made him more composed and wholly committed to humanity’s liberation. 237 264 265 267
During the war’s later stages, Mary’s death drove him into a berserk rage. He abandoned restraint and pursued the Main Gods with single-minded vengeance. 292 293
