Background / History

Schicksal held the Gems of Plague, Desire, and Tranquility at Headquarters, while the Gem of Conquest was in Anti-Entropy's possession. The gems are the cores of the Herrschers of Thunder, Flames, Wind, and Death, respectively 3.

Its personnel largely joined to fight the Honkai, though Schicksal's technological approach emphasized biological enhancement of human bodies, contrasting with Anti-Entropy's reliance on mechs 10 35. Following the Second Honkai Eruption, the organization suffered severe losses: five A-rank Valkyries, many B-rank Valkyries, five hundred regular Valkyries, and substantial weapons reserves were lost or depleted 76 315 534.

For five centuries, Archbishop Otto Apocalypse directed Schicksal. Though its members continued anti-Honkai work, Otto treated the organization as a tool for his own plans, withheld intervention during crises he expected to produce Herrschers, and used personnel as expendable pieces 12 55 418. His long tenure nevertheless left Schicksal highly centralized around his authority and reputation 419 442.

During the Third Honkai Outbreak in Changkong City, Schicksal deployed agents, the Hyperion, Theresa Apocalypse, Durandal, and the Blade of the Unbroken. Otto's objective was not merely to stop the outbreak, but to secure K423 and the Herrscher of Thunder 12 31 73. Lin Yu's actions during this operation and the Chiyou incident led Otto to promote him as a valuable subordinate and potential support for Theresa 151.

When Otto disappeared after Fu Hua's attack, his contingency plan installed Theresa as acting Archbishop. Lin Yu, Durandal, Rita, and Yuno helped reinforce her authority while Schicksal shifted its immediate policy toward Honkai Beast eradication and intelligence work against World Serpent 310 312 313.

Otto later openly turned against Schicksal, broadcasting his actions and the destruction of Kolosten to destabilize its members. The resulting despair caused numerous personnel to become Herrschers of Dominance, leaving Headquarters in internal chaos 419 420 421. After Otto was defeated, Lin Yu assumed the Archbishopric, announced a formal alliance with Anti-Entropy and Shenzhou, and redirected Schicksal toward a united war against the Honkai 447.

Major Arcs

Third Honkai Outbreak

Schicksal positioned forces around Changkong City while Otto allowed Cocolia's scheme to develop far enough to trigger a major Honkai event. The organization ultimately recovered K423, Raiden Mei, and control of the situation after its forces arrived 12 73.

Nine Nether and Chiyou

Schicksal dispatched Kiana, Mei, Yuno, Fu Hua, and Lin Yu into the Nine Nether region despite suspicions that Otto intended to pressure Mei and Yuno toward Herrscher awakenings. After Chiyou awakened, Schicksal personnel fought alongside Lin Yu to contain and destroy it 122 144 145.

Otto's disappearance and Theresa's interim rule

Following Fu Hua's assault on Otto, Schicksal faced a leadership vacuum. Theresa became acting Archbishop under a pre-existing contingency, while Lin Yu organized defenses, anti-Honkai deployments, and investigations into World Serpent 304 310 313.

Otto's betrayal and the Dominance crisis

Otto used Kolosten's destruction and a global internal broadcast to spread despair among Schicksal personnel. Numerous members transformed into Herrschers of Dominance, crippling Headquarters until Lin Yu entered the Dominance Theater and began neutralizing the cores 419 421 422 423.

New alliance

After Otto's defeat, Lin Yu publicly declared Schicksal's alliance with Anti-Entropy and Shenzhou. The organization began sharing selected technology with prospective allied nations and integrated Herrscher-level combatants into its anti-Honkai force 447 446.

Trivia

• Schicksal's internal authority structure was heavily dependent on Otto's five-century rule; even after his disappearance, many members initially assumed he was merely away from Headquarters 373 419.
• The organization had several hundred Herrschers of Dominance in usable condition after the crisis, making high-level Honkai combatants an unusually large part of its forces 446.
• Lin Yu became Schicksal Archbishop at seventeen years old 447.
