Identity and Impersonation

Xue Qinghe was the genuine eldest son of Emperor Xue Ye. During the Hunting Competition, Qian Renxue killed him and used an inherited Angel Clan spirit bone to alter her physique and voice, allowing her to impersonate him without Di Hong detecting the substitution 149.

All later political actions attributed to “Xue Qinghe”—including gaining the Crown Prince position, recruiting officials, poisoning rival princes, and conspiring with Spirit Hall—were performed by Qian Renxue under his stolen identity 150 153 223 226.

Background

As Xue Ye’s eldest son, Xue Qinghe was twelve years old when he was introduced. He was reserved, uninterested in competing for power, and particularly fond of literature; Xue Ye considered his second son, Xue Luochuan, the more suitable future heir 142.

He practiced archery under strict palace protection and showed a maturity beyond his age. After “rescuing” the disguised Qian Renxue—then using the alias Xiao Xue—he allowed her to remain at his side as an attendant out of compassion 146.

At the royal Hunting Competition, Xue Qinghe displayed capable archery and ordered the Soul Master Corps to engage Spirit Hall’s ambushers. During the confusion, Qian Renxue lured him away, killed him, and sank his body in a nearby pool before replacing him 148 149.

Appearance

Xue Qinghe was an exceptionally handsome young prince who still retained some childishness, though his bearing was notably mature for his age 146.

His treatment of Xiao Xue reflected his sympathetic nature. Although she insisted on remaining in his service, he encouraged her to pursue things she enjoyed rather than stay at his side constantly 146.

Legacy of the Stolen Identity

• Rise of the false Crown Prince — After Qian Renxue took Xue Qinghe’s identity, she recruited marginalized officials and generals, including Wang Shen, while presenting herself as an increasingly ambitious prince 150.
• Elimination of succession rivals — The impostor arranged the poisoning deaths of Xue Luochuan and Xue Haicang, leaving Xue Qinghe as Xue Ye’s only viable older heir 150 152 153.
