Outside the Purple Cloud Palace, Qing Xuan waited idly for the third sermon to begin.
It turned out that after Qing Xuan arrived at Spirit Mountain and found the two were not there, he had wandered the Western Continent for a thousand years. Seeing that Hongjun's third sermon was about to start, Qing Xuan had no choice but to come to the Purple Cloud Palace and wait.
"Fellow Daoist Qing Xuan!" Just as Qing Xuan was feeling frustrated, he suddenly heard someone call out to him.
Qing Xuan turned around and saw Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi walking over quickly.
"Long time no see! We even went to the Three Immortal Islands to look for you, but your disciple said you had gone out. The two of us had no choice but to come together. I didn't expect you to arrive first." Hong Yun patted Qing Xuan on the shoulder and said warmly.
"Haha, I had a breakthrough, so I went to wander the Primordial Wilderness. When I saw the time was near, I came alone." Qing Xuan, seeing his old friends again, felt his frustration dissipate and spoke with a smile.
While Qing Xuan and the other two were chatting, many people arrived from the Primordial Wilderness one after another, including the Three Pure Ones, Old Ancestor Minghe, and the people of the Heavenly Court.
These great powers of the Primordial Wilderness had all broken through to the Quasi-Saint realm. Among them, the strongest were still the Demon Race of the Heavenly Court. Di Jun, Tai Yi, and the Ten Great Demon Marshals were all Quasi-Saints. However, among the Demon Race who came, one person's cultivation was only at the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal realm. This person was the newly joined Demon Master of the Demon Race, 'Peng Xuan'.
It turned out that back then, Bai Ze had gone to the North Sea to invite Kun Peng to join the Heavenly Court. Kun Peng angrily beat Bai Ze up and said that if he wanted him to join the Heavenly Court, Di Jun would have to abdicate—otherwise, it was absolutely impossible.
Seeing Kun Peng's attitude, Bai Ze understood that this matter was hopeless and planned to return to report his mission. Unexpectedly, he ran into Peng Xuan on the way.
As fellow members of the Three Immortal Islands, the two chatted for a while. Bai Ze then invited Peng Xuan to join the Demon Race and take the position of Demon Master. Peng Xuan, feeling bored, thought it over and decided to go along for the excitement.
Peng Xuan saw Qing Xuan and felt delighted. He hadn't expected to meet his master here, so he quickly walked over.
"Greetings to the two seniors, and greetings to Master!" Peng Xuan bowed to the three. Qing Xuan was also overjoyed to see his beloved disciple.
"Little Peng, how did you end up mixed up with the Demon Race?" Qing Xuan pulled Peng Xuan over and asked in confusion. Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi also looked at Peng Xuan curiously.
Peng Xuan then recounted the events he had encountered while wandering the Primordial Wilderness.
Di Jun saw Peng Xuan chatting happily with Qing Xuan and the other two and asked in confusion.
"What is Peng Xuan's relationship with the three of them?"
Bai Ze heard this and explained their connections to the crowd. Everyone was startled—they hadn't expected Peng Xuan to be Qing Xuan's disciple. But since he was the Demon Master appointed by the Heavenly Court, wouldn't that make Qing Xuan the Ancestor of the Demon Race?
"He actually has a master! Why didn't he say so earlier!" Di Jun's face darkened as he scolded.
"Your Majesty... you never asked!" Bai Ze replied, though inwardly he was disdainful. Peng Xuan was one of their own, so of course he had to defend him.
Hearing this, Di Jun was quite displeased with Bai Ze, but remembering that Bai Ze was usually reliable, he didn't scold him further. He could only wait until after the sermon to deal with the matter.
Da Bai ate his fruit, watching the whole scene coldly from the sidelines. Now that he had become a Quasi-Saint and was called the Sea-Covering Demon Saint by the Demon Race clansmen—how majestic—he decided to maintain his lofty status by speaking less.
As more people arrived, the sermon was about to begin. Qing Xuan was quite puzzled—he hadn't expected Kong Xuan not to come.
Since things had come to this, Qing Xuan had no choice but to set aside his questions and follow the crowd into the Purple Cloud Palace.
After everyone had taken their seats, Hongjun appeared on the Dao Platform. Qing Xuan felt the increasingly imposing aura emanating from Hongjun and knew that Hongjun was not far from merging with the Dao.
"This sermon is the final one. Today, I will teach the path to sainthood. Beneath the saints, all are ants. Becoming a saint is your ultimate goal." Hongjun then explained the three paths to sainthood in detail.
The first was Proving the Dao with Strength, like Pangu perfecting his own laws. Only those with great perseverance and great fortune could prove the Dao—it was the most difficult of the three paths.
The second was the method of Severing the Three Corpses. By using great Magic Power to sever the Good Corpse, the Evil Corpse, and the Self Corpse, and then merging the three corpses into one, one could prove the Dao and become a saint.
The third was Merit-based Sainthood. By using boundless merit supplemented by Primordial Violet Qi, one could prove the Dao and entrust their Primordial Spirit to the Heavenly Dao, becoming a Heavenly Dao Saint.
The crowd listened carefully, reflecting on their own situations. Many who had already become Quasi-Saints had chosen the path of Severing the Three Corpses.
Time passed like a shuttle, and in the blink of an eye, the sermon came to an end.
"This sermon is over. As for these three paths to sainthood, the choice is entirely up to you. Do you have any questions?" Hongjun asked the crowd after finishing.
Yuanshi stepped forward and asked.
"Master, this disciple understands the first two paths, but Merit-based Sainthood requires Primordial Violet Qi. Where can this item be found?"
Hongjun chuckled lightly, then said.
"After Pangu split Heaven and Earth, seven strands of Primordial Violet Qi were born in the world. They can help those with fate become saints."
Hongjun then called his six disciples forward and produced six strands of Primordial Violet Qi.
"You six have taken me as your master. I will grant these six strands of Primordial Violet Qi to you."
Hearing this, Laozi accepted his expressionlessly. Yuanshi held his Primordial Violet Qi and looked around proudly. Tongtian examined his with curiosity. Nuwa extended both hands and respectfully received her Primordial Violet Qi. Jie Yin and Zhunti joyfully tucked theirs away.
The others cast envious glances at the six, especially at Jie Yin and Zhunti, with many wishing they could take their places.
Hongjun watched the six's vastly different reactions without comment. He then produced another strand of Primordial Violet Qi and said.
"This final strand will be given to the one fated to receive it." With that, he tossed it into the crowd.
Everyone scrambled for it, and in the end, this strand of Primordial Violet Qi miraculously fell into Hong Yun's hands.
Hong Yun stared at the Primordial Violet Qi in his hand and chuckled foolishly. Qing Xuan sighed at the unpredictability of fate, but since Hong Yun was now his friend, he couldn't bear to see him walk the same old path.
"Hong Yun, this item bodes ill for you. Would you be willing to let me have it?" Qing Xuan looked at Hong Yun seriously.
The two were startled and looked at Qing Xuan in surprise. However, having spent many years together, they understood Qing Xuan's character well and knew he wouldn't speak carelessly. Hong Yun generously handed it over.
"If you need it, take it."
Qing Xuan accepted the Primordial Violet Qi. Though he knew Hong Yun was generous, he was still deeply moved.
He had no choice—Qing Xuan had to ask for the Primordial Violet Qi in front of everyone. He noticed that the gazes that had been fixed on Hong Yun were now all on him. As for whether these people would try to ambush him, Qing Xuan was not afraid.
Seeing this, Hongjun said nothing more and continued.
"The three sermons are over. I am about to merge with the Heavenly Dao and will no longer concern myself with the mundane affairs of the Primordial Wilderness. Outside the Purple Cloud Palace, there is the Treasure Distribution Cliff, where countless Spiritual Treasures lie. You may take them as you wish." With that, Hongjun vanished.
