Background / History

Shelley was an elder of the Four Divine Beast Family and a member of the Vermillion Bird Clan. Before Roy joined the family, she gave him Soul Gold Beads, unintentionally causing his premature advancement to High-level God and seemingly reducing his chance of achieving Grand Perfection. Fearing that Roy might eventually resent her, she remained deeply concerned over the consequences of her decision. Roy later stated that he was grateful for the Soul Gold Beads and did not blame her. 21 25

She initially struggled to understand Roy's opposition to refining mortal souls into Soul Gold Beads. After the operation against the Gers Tribe revealed that the tribe had been used and abandoned by a larger force, Shelley became increasingly aware of the moral and political danger surrounding the practice. 22 23

Shelley later gathered Six-star Demons and ten thousand Four Divine Beast Family members to join Roy's Netherworld mission. Her connection to Roy and confidence in his strength helped secure the group's willingness to serve under him. 37

During an escort mission to bring clan members to the Sky Sacrifice Mountain Range for bloodline awakening, Shelley was attacked by Douglas Lucas and the Hell Scorpions. She used extensive Sovereign Power to hold off Douglas, but lost her Fire Element Divine Clone and four clan members before Roy intervened. 59 60 61

After the battle, Roy made Douglas her slave and later selected Shelley as his maid. Shelley accepted the loss of her elder position as a means of continuing to serve both Roy and her clan. 64 65 66

The Death Sovereign later abducted Shelley and made her an Emissary, assigning her as the first Castle Lord of Green Leaf Castle. Her Wind clone received a Netherworld Fruit and rapidly improved its law fusion. Roy eventually secured her release from the Death Sovereign's service and brought her back to Star Island. 84 148 149

Personality

Shelley is conscientious, cautious, and strongly aware of the consequences her actions may have for the Four Divine Beast Family. Her original guilt over the Soul Gold Beads becomes a lasting motivation to protect Roy's relationship with the family. 21 26 55

She is practical under pressure. During Douglas's assault, she prioritized preventing him from obtaining Sovereign Power and endured repeated severe injuries to buy time for the convoy to escape. 60 61

Serving Roy broadens her outlook considerably. After spending one hundred thousand years recording the customs and landscapes of Material Planes, she becomes gentler, more intellectual, and more reflective than she was as the “Flame War Goddess.” 70

Appearance

Shelley is associated with contrasting red and blue attire corresponding to her Divine Clones.

  • Her Fire Element Divine Clone wears fiery red clothing. 158
  • Her Wind Element Divine Clone wears azure or blue clothing. 158 164
  • She is later described in green while fishing at Netherworld Mountain. 98
  • Roy gives her the Butterfly Dance Chain to wear openly as a hair ornament. 145

Abilities & Skills

Wind Element Laws

Shelley's strongest combat incarnation is her Wind Element Divine Clone, which has fused seven Profound Mysteries and reached Asura-level power. 153

  • Uses the Wind Element's spatial profundity to tear open spatial rifts. 158
  • Can switch from her Fire clone to her Wind clone in combat, increasing her strength roughly one hundredfold. 158
  • Her Wind clone's enhanced body approaches the strength of a High-level Divine Artifact after Roy's Nebula Array tempering. 164
  • Possesses a Sovereign Artifact, allowing her to surpass ordinary Asura Prefects. 153

Fire Element Laws

Shelley's Fire Element Divine Clone is her original main combat clone and is capable of Six-star Devil-level combat. 21

  • Uses fiery sword energy in direct combat. 60
  • Phoenix Flame Dance — releases hundreds of flame phoenixes to destroy surrounding enemies. 60
  • Inferno — a technique used against Tina during their sparring match. 166
  • Her Fire clone was destroyed by Douglas, after which Shelley refined its Godhead to recover her strength. 60 62

Sovereign Power Usage

Shelley is experienced in using Sovereign Power during life-or-death combat.

  • Repelled Douglas's spear after activating Sovereign Power. 60
  • Spent more than two hundred drops during her prolonged battle with Douglas. 61
  • Chose to consume Sovereign Power rather than allow Douglas to seize it. 61
  • Her reliance on Sovereign Power does not erase the substantial gap between her Six-star Devil Fire clone and Douglas's Seven-star Demon strength. 60

Administration and Intelligence

Shelley is a capable organizer trusted with major responsibilities by Roy and the Four Divine Beast Family.

  • Coordinates Four Divine Beast Family actions during the faith war without losses. 89

  • Douglas Lucas — Her slave under a master-submission soul contract; Roy assigns him to protect her after he killed her Fire Element Divine Clone. 64 66
