Background / History
Gudako is first mentioned operating in Fuyuki City alongside the mature version of Shinji during a secret trial 44. She later prepares for battle with Shinji as Fuyuki is sealed inside a massive barrier and shifted to another dimension 47.
Her detailed origin is revealed during Rin’s Soul World phase. Rin uses a prepared external body, the System, and Gudako’s intended personality to create a girl modeled as “Gudako,” hoping she can absorb the System and gain the qualifications to learn magecraft from A Certain Magical Index 63. Da Vinci later reflects that Gudako is not an ordinary adoptee, but a special “human” created by Rin using the internal System and the remains of the 666 Beast through a spiritron-based war 182.
Gudako awakens without memories and with unstable beastly impulses. Rin cleans up the scene, watches over her, and recognizes that the aura and beast nature of 666 cannot be fully erased even with holy marks and Spiritual System residual personalities 63. In reality, after the Soul World conflict, Rin introduces herself as Gudako’s Master and tells Gudako that she is her disciple at Chaldea 74.
Appearance
Gudako first manifests before Rin as a maiden radiating soft white light 63. After awakening in Chaldea, she is described as looking around 12–13 years old 74. Cleopatra later compares her presence to a star still shining beneath Rin’s Ishtar-like “sun” 111.
- Feminine body molded by Rin into “Gudako’s likeness” 63
- Appears as a young girl after her Chaldea awakening 74
- Can show beastly eyes when the seal on her weakens 68
- Can transform into a chaotic, monster-like form under extreme conditions 73
Personality
Gudako begins as amnesiac and instinctively violent, asking who and where she is after awakening 63 74. As she interacts with others, she develops a recognizable personality: earnest, emotionally direct, and strongly attached to the idea of saving the world 63 65.
She is often energetic and simple-hearted, rushing ahead with excitement and thanking BB sincerely even after being mocked 65 93. She also has a mischievous side, once projecting images of Ayaka’s affection for Rin to justify why Chaldea dares oppose a Root-linked existence, accepting the risk of Rin beating her afterward 172.
Gudako respects Rin deeply and trusts her judgment. When Rin arrives to take over a difficult monster battle, Gudako immediately withdraws, smiles, and warns her Master to be careful 129. In later conflicts, however, her 666 Beast state leaves her unstable enough that she struggles to control her powers and decisions 260.
