Background / History

Chen was originally Lin Chen, a left-behind child in the real world whose parents worked far from home. Neglect, troubled peers, and an environment where violence was normalized left him impulsive and quick-tempered, though he retained a sense of right and wrong. He became absorbed in Naruto and longed for the bonds and purpose he saw in its world. 14

He transmigrated into the ninja world and was born in Konoha Year 48 in the Land of Lightning. His parents were Uchiha descendants who had once guarded the Chinoike Clan's forbidden ground before abandoning their identities to live as commoners. Jin, Chen's younger brother, was born two years later. 1

Chen's parents were killed while buying time for their sons to escape Miyashiro En of the Chinoike Clan. At age ten, Chen began a three-year campaign of revenge that exterminated the remaining Chinoike survivors, including En. He later recognized that this revenge had brought no comfort to the dead and had harmed those close to him. 14

Jin's later death devastated Chen. He unsuccessfully attempted to reverse Jin's death with Utsuro-ryu and tried to revive him through the Living Reincarnation Jutsu before inheriting Jin's eyes. Shinshiki eventually confirmed that Jin's death had been engineered to push Chen toward becoming a suitable vessel. 40 296

After the Fourth Great Ninja War, Chen tried to persuade Naruto to prepare the ninja world for future Ōtsutsuki threats. Konoha dismissed him as a dangerous extremist. Following Jin's death, Chen abandoned his initial plan to cooperate with Naruto and Sasuke, resolved to build his own force, and began seeking allies capable of changing the future. 1

Chen is a tall Uchiha man with shoulder-length dark hair and a resemblance that White Zetsu compares to a hypothetical child of Madara and Hashirama. He commonly wears a black God Robe bearing the Uchiha fan crest. 1
