Background

Might Guy began as an underachieving Ninja Academy student. He nearly failed the entrance examination, ranked poorly in both theory and combat-related subjects, and repeatedly lost when challenging Kakashi Hatake. Rather than accept those failures, he treated them as motivation to train harder. 19 191

In his fourth year, Guy's rapid taijutsu improvement drew attention during the class practical assessment. He defeated opponents cleanly, including Daisuke with a single kick, then defeated Obito Uchiha in the final to place first in his class.
