Background / History

Rovi began as a priest in Uruk’s temple, where the aging High Priest entrusted him with increasingly important duties and implicitly prepared him as a successor. Secretly, Rovi carved a memorial criticizing King Gilgamesh; his purpose was to leave an indelible mark on Human Order, die unnaturally, and reach the Throne of Heroes. 1

The gods gave him the Key of Heaven, intending him to serve as a bond that would guide Gilgamesh toward wisdom. Rovi instead studied the Key’s functions for his own purposes, eventually discovering its ability to adapt him to hostile environments and resist divine suppression. 12 20

Despite his antagonistic beginning with Gilgamesh, Rovi became central to Uruk’s development. His clay tablets created the system of officials, placing literate and skilled people into administrative roles throughout Uruk’s territory. 60

His repeated attempts to seek a worthy death instead carried him through the divine systems of Mesopotamia, Greece, Norse lands, the Divine Land, Rome, and the modern era. Across these eras, he accumulated authority, disciples, civilizations, and identities while continuing to pursue transcendence through the Throne of Heroes and the Seat. 155 177 222 255

Rovi is initially depicted as a handsome young man with black hair and black eyes. His human appearance remains youthful even as his existence expands beyond human limits. 1 23
