Background / History

Mo Wen originated as a Tribulation Lightning Spirit at Buzhou Mountain. When the Thunder Tribulation Divine Palace descended from a thundercloud, he condensed a human body from black-gold lightning and celebrated his successful transformation. The palace subsequently absorbed his power, pulled him inside, and granted him control over the Transformation Thunder Tribulation through a Fragment of the Heavenly Dao’s Authority 1 2.

Initially, Mo Wen treated the responsibility of arranging tribulations cautiously. He remained within the Divine Palace, worried that revealing himself would draw the attention of Saints and other Primordial powerhouses. After learning that tribulations could yield cultivation methods, treasures, and palace-key fragments, he began actively selecting tribulation transcenders and refining the rewards they produced 3 4 22.

His early tribulations were conducted through a remote wisp of Divine Sense. He carefully adjusted their intensity to avoid killing Saint-affiliated targets such as Guang Chengzi, and withdrew entire tribulations whenever an exposure risk became too high 13 14. The palace’s concealment repeatedly prevented Hongjun, the Saints, and the Myriad Races from discovering the controller’s location 33 42.

Mo Wen’s intervention increasingly favored the Human Race. He used tribulations to punish Demon Race forces invading Human territory, supported the Four Symbols Divine Tree, bestowed the Martial Dao Divine Hall upon humanity, and opposed Taiqing’s attempt to suppress the Human Race’s independent cultivation path 46 48 86. Faith from the Human Race later entered the Divine Palace, allowing him to establish a channel for projection while he deliberately withheld the power until it could be used safely 104.

After negotiating with the Heavenly Dao, Mo Wen refused to surrender thunder-tribulation authority. The Heavenly Dao accepted this refusal and issued a decree warning the Saints and Primordial powerhouses not to interfere with him 105 106. He subsequently condensed Law Bodies to divide the work of administering tribulations and to cultivate independently while his main body remained in seclusion 109.

Mo Wen opened successive layers of the Thunder Tribulation Divine Palace, gaining Thunder Punishment, Chaos-level treasures, the Chaos Thunder Domain, and Reincarnation Thunder Tribulation authority 132 157 173 187. His conflict with Hongjun and Yang Mei forced him to reveal greater power, eventually culminating in his breakthrough to Mixed Origin Great Luo Golden Immortal and the later establishment of the Human Dao 171 186.

Appearance

Mo Wen appears as a young man with a lean build, handsome features, and long, flowing hair. His presence can still silence nearby thunder and lightning, reflecting his origin as a Thunder Spirit 1.

Personality

Mo Wen is cautious, pragmatic, and intensely protective of his anonymity. Even after obtaining authority over tribulations, he avoids direct confrontations with Saints and powerful clans whenever exposure would outweigh the benefit. He has repeatedly dispersed tribulation clouds or declined tempting treasures rather than reveal himself prematurely 14 43 46.

He views thunder tribulations as both a duty and a source of rewards. Once he learns that the Divine Palace pays out treasures for completed tribulations, he becomes markedly more diligent and treats strength as the foundation that will keep him alive 4 22 33.

Despite his self-interested language, Mo Wen repeatedly acts to protect the Human Race. He punishes invaders, provides humanity with the Martial Dao Divine Hall, supports the Human Dao, and delegates protection of human territory to his Thunder Punishment Law Body 48 86 157 186. He also shows loneliness and affection toward the Thunder Spirit Embryo, later naming the hatched creature Xiao Hei 80 189.
