Background / History

Taiqing first appears in the Three Purities Hall alongside Yuanshi and Tongtian, unsettled by the sudden emergence of the Transformation Thunder Tribulation. Unable to determine its origin, he leads his brothers to Zixiao Palace to seek Hongjun's guidance. 2

When Tongtian refuses to join an attempt to petition the Heavenly Dao for tribulations for the Chan Sect, Taiqing instead works with Yuanshi. He sees the tribulation's mysteries as a means to strengthen the Mystic Gate and believes that the Jie Sect is destined for a future calamity. 11

As the Intercepting Sect gains Fortune through successful tribulations, Taiqing becomes increasingly concerned with securing influence for his own lineage. He dispatches his disciple Xuan Du to the Human Race, intending to establish the Golden Core Path and obtain the Human Race's Luck. 73

Personality

Taiqing is calculating and long-sighted. He evaluates the Transformation Thunder Tribulation chiefly in terms of its potential to increase sectarian Fortune, uncover hidden authority, and strengthen the Mystic Gate under his leadership. 11

He places great importance on Saintly dignity and hierarchy. When Kong Xuan defeats Xuan Du and the Four Symbols Divine Tree rejects his attempt to guide the Human Race, Taiqing personally intervenes, asserting that the Human Teachings should control Human Race Luck. 84

His relationship with Tongtian is strained by conflicting priorities. Taiqing initially tries to restrain disputes between his brothers, but repeatedly sides with Yuanshi against Tongtian and opposes Tongtian's efforts to assist the Thunder Tribulation Heavenly Lord. 75 85 163
