Background / History

Madara and Hashirama Senju formed a close friendship during the Warring States era. Having grown tired of war, they founded Konoha together in pursuit of a world where children could live peacefully. Their shared goal fractured when Hashirama continued to place his faith in love and cooperation, while Madara concluded that peace required absolute strength and suppression. 99

After reading an altered Uchiha stone tablet, Madara became convinced that only the Uchiha Clan—and specifically himself—could change the Ninja World. He attempted to lead the clan away from Konoha, but its members chose the stability of village life instead. Following his battle with Hashirama, Madara faked his death, hid himself away, and arranged contingencies for his eventual return. 99

Madara’s Eye of the Moon Plan called for his resurrection, the collection of the nine Tailed Beasts, his ascension as the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki, and the casting of Infinite Tsukuyomi to force world peace. He later learned that Black Zetsu had manipulated both the stone tablet and his plan in service of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki’s revival. 90 100

The revelation leaves Madara questioning whether he had been nothing more than a pawn. He ultimately chooses to support Hashirama’s effort to nurture Makoto Ito rather than continue pursuing the Eye of the Moon Plan. 90 101

Madara is eventually resurrected by Makoto with his Rinnegan intact. His return initially terrifies those present, including Orochimaru, though the expected clash with Hashirama is replaced by Hashirama enthusiastically embracing him. 266 267

Personality

Madara is intensely proud, combative, and easily provoked—particularly by Hashirama, Tobirama, or anyone who dismisses his strength. Being repeatedly muted in the Chat Group infuriates him enough to gift Makoto two Fire Release techniques just to regain the ability to argue. 28 30
