History

Hashirama was one of Konoha's founders alongside Madara Uchiha and served as its First Hokage. After his death, he awakened in the Pure Land when Makoto Ito established the Chat Group. He welcomed the chance to observe the living world, hoping to see whether Konoha and the Ninja World had attained the peace he had pursued. 2 6

Observing modern Konoha undermined much of that optimism. Hashirama learned that the Senju Clan had vanished and was told it had been annihilated before the Uchiha Clan. Although he initially accepted that some Senju might have integrated into civilian society, he ultimately supported Makoto's proposed route to restoring the clan. He gifted Makoto the Senju bloodline, Wood Release, and a Beginner Sage Body. 23 25 26

Makoto made Hashirama a Chat Group Administrator in return. Hashirama immediately used his authority to mute Madara and Tobirama, enjoying the chance to retaliate against their usual teasing. 27 28

After learning of Hiruzen Sarutobi's failures as Hokage, Hashirama became determined to confront him. When Orochimaru later summoned Hashirama through Impure World Reincarnation, he and Tobirama attacked Hiruzen rather than acting as obedient tools. Hashirama defined his own Will of Fire as protecting comrades and condemned Hiruzen for failing that principle. 72 220 221

Hashirama transferred all of his life's knowledge to Makoto, who used the Chat Group to restore him to life. His reunion with Tsunade was emotional, while his return to Madara was notably less combative than expected: Hashirama immediately embraced Madara and refused to let go. 256 267

Following his resurrection, Hashirama discovered that he could move freely between the outside world and Little Konoha. He later underwent Orochimaru's dōjutsu experiments, receiving Madara's cells and Sharingan before advancing to the Rinnegan. 263 355 358

Personality

Hashirama is hopeful, broad-minded, and strongly committed to peace. He initially viewed the Chat Group as an opportunity to see whether the world he and Madara built had finally become peaceful. Even after hearing criticism of his decision to distribute the Tailed Beasts, he struggled with doubts but maintained that he did not regret choosing a less oppressive path. 6 20

He is frequently treated as simple-minded by Tobirama and Madara, and he openly relies on Tobirama to handle complicated political questions. However, he can show insight when it matters, such as proposing the cell-and-Sharingan approach that could awaken his own Rinnegan. 18 347
