Background / History

Xuanqing is Taiqing's first avatar, refined from Taiqing's Primordial Spirit together with Pangu blood from Pangu Hall's Blood Pool. As the first avatar severed by Taiqing, he inherited the greatest share of Pangu's residual Destiny in the Primordial Wilderness and possesses an exceptional affinity with the Pangu lineage 46 619. His connection to Taiqing had long been suspected by powerful figures, and his identity as Taiqing's avatar was publicly known by the time news of his Daoist Arena spread after his attainment of the Dao. Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi had learned the truth earlier, after the Immortal-Demon Calamity ended and they became core members of the Witch Race faction 562 584 802.

He became Ancestor Reincarnation's first personal disciple after seeking the Reincarnation Dao Art and Law of Reincarnation. The master-disciple bond greatly benefited Ancestor Reincarnation's path to enlightenment, and Xuanqing's immense Destiny/Luck earned him his master's protection and pride. Ancestor Reincarnation repeatedly warned reincarnated Chaos Demon Gods, Hongjun, and other powers against scheming for his disciple 54 104 165 205.

He first came into conflict with Di Jun and Tai Yi over the Exiled Immortal Wing. The treasure was drawn to his Law of Speed, allowing him to claim it; afterward, nine Grand Unity Golden Immortals pursued him in hopes of taking the Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure 44 45. During this siege, Xuanqing demonstrated that his apparent cultivation did not reflect his true combat ability. After awakening Pangu's Power, he defeated the nine attackers in fewer than three breaths 46.

After surviving Bengtian's attempt to seize the Exiled Immortal Wing, Xuanqing returned with three additional Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures. He handed treasures to Taiqing for distribution among the Twelve Ancestral Witches, who lacked companion spiritual treasures, and personally transmitted the Law of Reincarnation to Houtu while Taiqing also studied it 69 70.

Xuanqing later cultivated connections with Fuxi and Nuwa through Dao discussions, sparring, and strategic guidance. He encouraged them to develop their Laws and physical bodies, helped arrange powerful masters for them, and advised them on dealing with Dong Wang Gong and the Immortal Court 76 77 153 154 162.

His initial purpose in approaching the siblings was to prevent them from joining the Demon Race and becoming enemies of the Sanqing and Twelve Ancestral Witches. He also sought to discourage their attendance at Hongjun's sermons by explaining the advantages of becoming disciples of Hunyuan Celestial Venerables. After sharing dangerous information about the Heavenly Dao, he gave them communication jade tokens and directed them toward his associates at Buzhou Mountain 73 75 78. His introductions subsequently helped Zhen Yuanzi enter Yang Mei's sect and Hong Yun become Old Ancestor Wuxing's disciple 171 584.

As his influence grew, Xuanqing became a central planner in opposition to the Heavenly Dao. He identified its manipulation of Qin Yuan, exposed its suppression of cultivators' breakthroughs for Destiny and Merit, and maneuvered Ancestor Reincarnation and other powerful beings toward spreading teachings and establishing lineages 85 161 165. He also exploited Di Jun, Hongjun, and the Demon Race to develop the Great Desolation Teleportation Array and gather materials for the Underworld 239 264 329.

At the Innate Gourd Vine gathering, Xuanqing coordinated with the Twelve Ancestral Witches so that Zhu Rong could claim the Immortal Slaying Gourd originally fated to Tai Yi. He separately kept Fuxi and Nuwa from making connections with Di Jun and Tai Yi. His acquisition of the three gourds fated to the Sanqing prompted Hongjun to investigate his Origin, provoking Ancestor Reincarnation's confrontation at the entrance to Purple Firmament Palace 202 205.

After establishing himself on the Ziwei Emperor Star, Xuanqing protected the newly born Star Gods and directed Ziwei to gather them as disciples. He transformed the Ziwei Emperor Star into a heavily defended fortress and worked to strengthen the Star God lineage against Heavenly Dao and Demon Race interference 335 347 348.

As grand-master of the Star Gods, he gained a substantial share of their collective Destiny and supplied more than three hundred disciples and grand-disciples with spiritual pills and Top-grade Houtian Spiritual Treasures. The treasures were refined by Yuqing Yuanshi using materials left over from the Underworld's construction. When the Heavenly Dao's suppression was lifted, Xuanqing immediately advanced to the late-stage Hunyuan Golden Immortal realm and guided Ziwei through her own cultivation opportunity 336 337.

The Heavenly Dao later spent its Origin to lure Xuanqing away from the Ziwei Emperor Star, intending to eliminate him through manipulated Quasi-Saints and the Mysterious Demon Realm. Xuanqing endured the Great Evolution Annihilation Formations, slaughtered the attackers, fought demon god remnants within the Mysterious Demon Realm, and used the Cross-Boundary Boat to absorb and purify the realm 350 353 355 360.

During the Third Immortal-Demon War, members of the Heavenly Court army questioned why Xuanqing and his Star God lineage remained absent. After putting away a Reincarnation Disk and assuring his master that his actions would bring a great opportunity and immense Destiny, Xuanqing set out for the main battlefield on the Western Continent with Ancestor Reincarnation's backing 380 381. Following the Heavenly Court's reorganization, the Heavenly Dao again sought to remove him from his position as Great Emperor Ziwei of the North Star, assigning Hongjun and Luohu responsibility for dealing with him 391.

Following his journey into Chaos, Xuanqing aided the Hunyuan Celestial Venerables' world-opening plans and returned with vastly improved foundations 441 506 559. He subsequently devised the plan that bound Xuanhuang Old Ancestor and Ancestor Soul to the Human Dao and Earthly Dao through Nuwa's creation of the Human Race, thereby saving them from expulsion while advancing the Great Desolation's development 560 561 596.

After returning to the Primordial Wilderness, Xuanqing acted on Nuwa's behalf to arrange the Three Marriages of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. He secured the consent of Dijiang, Zhu Jiuyin, and Zhu Rong to become Dao companions with Queen Mother of the West, Xi He, and Chang Xi respectively, strengthening the Witch Race faction's future foundations 619 621.

Following his attainment of the Dao, Xuanqing opened Xuanqing Mountain's Daoist Arena and delivered a sermon on the Great Dao of Reincarnation. His manipulation can include deliberate exaggeration. When warning Di Jun and Tai Yi about Hongmeng Purple Qi, he mixed genuine concerns about Heavenly Dao control with a fabricated claim that the Heavenly Dao would suppress Saints' future cultivation advancement. During formation research, he likewise downplayed his attainments while selectively displaying progress to provoke the brothers and keep them invested 266 274.

He is also capable of generosity and mentorship. He gave Fuxi and Nuwa practical cultivation advice, sought opportunities for the Star God lineage, and arranged for Ziwei to lead the newly born Star Gods 77 335 342. He further shared the World Only I Breathing Method with the Star God lineage, Pangu descendants, the Phoenix Clan, Dragon Clan, Styx, and other allies rather than keeping it exclusively for himself 342 362.

When threatened, Xuanqing is decisive and ruthless. He confronted nine pursuers rather than flee, slaughtered dozens of Quasi-Saints sent against him, and fought demon god remnants inside the Mysterious Demon Realm 45 350 355.

Despite his schemes, Xuanqing generally frames his plans around strengthening the Great Desolation and resisting Heavenly Dao control. Xuanqing claimed the Exiled Immortal Wing through his Law of Speed, rejected Di Jun's offer of help, and defeated nine Grand Unity Golden Immortals pursuing his treasure after awakening Pangu's Power 44 46.

The confrontation also served as a practical test of Pangu's Power. After determining its suppression duration and recovery requirements, he killed the leading pursuer, while the other eight survived and became prospective recruits for Di Jun and Tai Yi 46.

Guidance of Fuxi and Nuwa

After meeting the siblings in the Eastern Continent, Xuanqing sparred with Fuxi, instructed both siblings in the importance of Laws and physical-body cultivation, and later acted to secure them powerful masters and political protection 73 77 153 162.

His guidance was also a deliberate effort to alter their future affiliations. He planted doubts about Hongjun's sermons, supplied communication jade tokens, and directed them toward Buzhou Mountain so that they could encounter the Sanqing and Twelve Ancestral Witches rather than become pillars of the Demon Race 73 75 78.

Merit and Anti-Heavenly Dao Schemes

Xuanqing uncovered signs of the Heavenly Dao's manipulation, steered Ancestor Reincarnation toward preaching and gathering Merit, and proposed projects designed to exploit the interests of Di Jun and Hongjun for wider strategic ends 85 161 165 239.

His role as an intermediary extended to apprenticeship arrangements. Yang Mei credited him for Zhen Yuanzi's entry into his sect, and Hong Yun later recognized his recommendation to Wuxing as part of Taiqing's broader plan to build durable alliances 171 584.

Teleportation Array and Underworld Construction

Xuanqing used the proposed Great Desolation Teleportation Array to make Di Jun's Demon Race, Hongjun, the Immortal Court, and the Hunyuan Celestial Venerables contribute to a project that also supported the Underworld and the Pangu descendants' long-term plans 239 264 329 330.

He obtained Demon Race resources under the guise of refining battle-preparation pills and used some of the material to supply Witch Race cultivation pills, disguising the expenditure as alchemy losses. When he delivered the Teleportation Array to the Immortal Court, its Quasi-Saints initially considered detaining him, but he departed before their formation could be assembled. Their suspicion subsequently turned to praise once they examined the array's Merit-generating potential 264 277 330.

Star God Lineage

As Great Emperor Ziwei of the North Star, Xuanqing protected the emerging Star God lineage from Demon Race interference, had Ziwei gather the Star Gods as disciples, and acquired the World Only I Breathing Method to strengthen the lineage 335 341 342.

He supplied the lineage with pills and Top-grade Houtian Spiritual Treasures refined by Yuqing Yuanshi, while benefiting from its collective Destiny as its grand-master. The lifting of Heavenly Dao suppression enabled his late-stage Hunyuan Golden Immortal breakthrough 336 337. After the Chaos war, Ziwei strengthened the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Great Formation with battlefield Law fragments, and later attained the Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm during Witch City's Martial Dao tournament 801 809.

Open Conflict with the Heavenly Dao

After the Heavenly Dao targeted him with Heavenly Dao Origin, Xuanqing slaughtered dozens of Quasi-Saints sent to block his path. He was later drawn into the Mysterious Demon Realm, where he fought demon god remnants using the World-Ending Millstone 350 355.

The ambush escalated into attacks by two Great Evolution Annihilation Formations, including a force of mid-stage Quasi-Saints from the surrendered Heavenly Court. Ancestor Reincarnation initially prevented concerned allies from intervening, demonstrating confidence in Xuanqing, but later tried to locate the Mysterious Demon Realm to rescue him 352 356.

Purification of the Mysterious Demon Realm

After surviving the Heavenly Dao's trap, Xuanqing used the Cross-Boundary Boat to absorb the entire Mysterious Demon Realm and refine its demon god resentments. This gave the Great Desolation a future means of gradually resolving a major hidden danger 360 362.

Third Immortal-Demon War and Renewed Targeting

During the Third Immortal-Demon War, the absence of Xuanqing and the Star God lineage prompted complaints within the Heavenly Court army. He subsequently departed for the main battlefield after assuring Ancestor Reincarnation that he understood the situation and would secure a great opportunity and immense Destiny for his master 380 381.

The Heavenly Dao's later appointments of Haotian, Yaochi, and Jidu did not resolve its concern over Xuanqing's stellar authority. At Hongjun's prompting, it ordered Hongjun and Luohu to deal with his continued position as Great Emperor Ziwei of the North Star 391.

Chaos Expedition and Human Race Plan

Xuanqing entered Chaos to support the Hunyuan Celestial Venerables' world-opening efforts, then returned to assist Xuanhuang Old Ancestor and Ancestor Soul. He persuaded them to contribute to Nuwa's creation of the Human Race, ensuring their continued place in the Great Desolation and strengthening the Human Dao and Earthly Dao 441 506 559 561.

The expedition required him to borrow Houtu's Primordial Sky Measuring Ruler while Taichu was occupied fighting Hongjun and the apparent Luohu. He used the World-Ending Millstone to withstand Chaos assimilation and reached the agreed rendezvous after avoiding the ongoing battle 440 441 506.

For humanity's creation, he supplied the qi of the seven emotions and six desires collected from an earlier attack on the Heavenly Court. His plan subsequently brought Xuanhuang and Soul cultivation advancement, Great Dao Merit, and a binding commitment to aid the Sanqing, Nuwa, and Xuanqing when needed 581 596.

Three Marriages of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity

On Nuwa's behalf, Xuanqing approached the Twelve Ancestral Witches to arrange the Three Marriages of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. He secured the marriages of Dijiang and Queen Mother of the West, Zhu Jiuyin and Xi He, and Zhu Rong and Chang Xi, further consolidating the Witch Race faction's alliances 619 621.

After obtaining the Ancestral Witches' agreement, he returned to Ancestor Yin Yang's Daoist Arena to report the result. He treated the matter seriously, recognizing both the danger of damaging the prospective brides' Dao Hearts and their potential to become three additional enlightened powerhouses within the Witch Race camp 620 621.

Attainment of the Dao

Following the Great Desolation's recovery after the Chaos war, Xuanqing completed his Reincarnation Dao and attained the Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm. His breakthrough established Xuanqing Mountain as a complete Daoist Arena and drew congratulations from the Great Desolation's major factions 801 802.

Xuanqing Mountain's Daoist Arena was located east of Kunlun Mountain. Visitors included great witches, Sanqing disciples, representatives of the Earth Sect, Di Jun, Ziwei, Donghua, and the five innate races, followed by the reincarnated Chaos Demon God powerhouses and the Sanqing and Twelve Ancestral Witches. Ancestor Reincarnation regarded the attainment as securing the foundation of their Reincarnation lineage 802.

Xuanqing Mountain Dao Gathering

After opening his Daoist Arena, Xuanqing expounded the Great Dao of Reincarnation to cultivators from across the Great Desolation. Taiqing answered by organizing simultaneous sermons from the Sanqing, Twelve Ancestral Witches, and reincarnated Chaos Demon God powerhouses, making the occasion the first major postwar Dao gathering 803.

Cultivators moved between the different sermon domains to pursue insights suited to their individual paths. Their passage between domains also exposed them to the Time Law, while Xuanqing's sermon conveyed different levels of Reincarnation insight according to each listener's cultivation 803.
