Background / History

Kaguya was born into the Ōtsutsuki Branch Family. Though her bloodline and talent were considered excellent, she was judged mentally and martially inferior and designated as a tool to accelerate a Divine Tree's growth. Upon arriving in the Shinobi World, she seized its Chakra Fruit and ambushed her Main Family superior, Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, piercing his heart with All-Killing Ash Bones while he planted the Divine Tree. 232 255

After merging with the Divine Tree, Kaguya created Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki as split beings. Her fear of future Ōtsutsuki pursuit and her treatment of the Shinobi World eventually brought her into conflict with her sons; they defeated her, removed the Ten-Tails, and sealed her within the moon. 259 273

Kaguya is summoned from that seal when Seisui absorbs Tailed Beast Chakra and activates Kaguya's Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan. Starved for chakra and terrified of detection by Hagoromo, Hamura, and Isshiki, she accepts Seisui's assistance in concealing her presence and lends him chakra for that purpose. 224
