Background / History
The Golden Dragon King originated when the Asura God split the maddened Dragon God into two beings: the Golden Dragon King and the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena. Unlike Gu Yuena, who escaped immediately, he fought several God Kings and was suppressed within the God Restriction Zone. During his imprisonment, he claims to have maintained his strength by devouring lives and converting them into his own energy. 252
Gu Yuena eventually reached his prison and arranged his escape to Douluo Continent, believing she could restrain him there and prevent further harm to living beings. Upon emerging above Spirit City, he immediately dismissed Gu Yuena's warnings, insulted Ratio, and treated the gods' restraint as a sign of weakness. 254
He prepared a dragon-breath attack on Spirit City, but Ratio's presence triggered an overwhelming instinctive fear: the Golden Dragon King realized he had no possible chance of defeating him. He attempted to withdraw the attack, swallowed the blast himself, and suffered a dislocated jaw. Ratio then redirected the remaining energy upward with a piece of chalk and extracted scales and blood from the Golden Dragon King as recompense. 255
Afterward, fear of Ratio constrained his actions. When Gu Yuena warned that he was endangering people connected to Ratio, he immediately withdrew his Dragon Might and transformed into a human form to verify that no Soul Beast had died under his pressure. 261
He later founded the Beast God Temple, presenting it as an organization that would impose order on Soul Beasts. His actual model favored the strong ruling and enslaving the weak, placing him in direct ideological conflict with Gu Yuena and the Free Alliance's principle that Soul Beasts should not be enslaved. He recruited ten thousand Soul Beasts to his side, including many who followed his Dragon Might without understanding his intentions. 264
Appearance
In his true form, the Golden Dragon King is a colossal golden dragon whose body can stretch thousands of zhang across the sky. His scales shine with golden divine light, and his Dragon Might is powerful enough to force weaker beings to kneel. 254 276

Despite his aggression, he is not incapable of caution. His beastly intuition makes him willing to take risks even against the Five Great God Kings, but it also tells him when defeat is certain. Once he understood Ratio's power, his defiance became fear; he avoided directly provoking Ratio and was visibly terrified when Ratio appeared during the God War. 255 266
He is also opportunistic. When Tang San convinced him that Ratio had supposedly lost the ability to suppress the world, he joined Tang San, Tang Hao, and Yu Xiaogang in an attempt to overturn the existing order. 314 315
