Background / History

Nuwa created the Human Clan on the East Sea Coast from Nine Heavens Breathing Soil, Three Lights Divine Water, and the Creation Cauldron. She formed 129,600 humans openly, while secretly creating a 129,601st figure. Houtu concealed this final figure with the Dao Origin Divine Pearl and merged into it the independent primordial-spirit fragment severed by Zhou Ming; this human became Wu. Nuwa then proclaimed the birth of the Human Clan. 96 98

Nuwa initially molded the humans individually, then used the Innate Gourd Vine to create them in batches. Zhou Ming drew the Heavenly Dao's and Hongjun's attention by attempting to attain the Primordial Chaos and enduring their divine thunder, allowing Nuwa and Houtu to complete the concealed final human. 96 98

The newborn humans were frail and lacked even basic survival knowledge, but possessed the Innate Dao Body, a form exceptionally attuned to the Great Dao. Zhou Ming identified them as the future protagonists of heaven and earth, though the Ancestral Wu initially doubted that such a weak race could hold that role. 100 101

Nuwa declared the Human Clan under her protection after attaining Sagehood through their creation. Zhou Ming nevertheless insisted that they must develop independently rather than become dependent on Wu Clan protection, as excessive intervention could stunt their growth and draw Heavenly Dao's hostility. 95 100

Early Survival and Guidance

The early Human Clan endured a dangerous Primordial Wilderness with little inheritance, weak cultivation, and frequent deaths among the first humans. Hou Yi provided protection and some body-tempering guidance, but his methods were better suited to the physically powerful Wu Clan than to humans. 105 109

Hou Yi's original instructions were to protect the clan without interfering in its internal affairs unless its losses became severe. Wu combined Hou Yi's superficial cultivation teachings and combat techniques with the fragments of Zhou Ming's insights he could understand, producing a barely usable early cultivation method. Later-born humans displayed declining aptitude across successive generations, making a more suitable cultivation system increasingly necessary. 105 109

Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun later stayed at the Human Clan Ancestral Land and preached the Dao three times over tens of thousands of years. They declined formal discipleship, but their teaching guided the clan's early cultivation and growth; afterward, the Human Clan's Fortune blessed both cultivators. 113 114

During their stay, Hou Yi reported their presence to Zhou Ming, who instructed him to lead his warriors back to Wu Clan territory. The Human Clan continued multiplying under Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun's direct guidance and indirect protection. 113

Martial Path and Civilization

Wu emerged from seclusion with the Martial Path, a cultivation system designed for the Human Clan, particularly later-born humans with weaker aptitudes. Its initial Wu Scripture could lead practitioners to the Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm, and its spread caused a period of explosive growth; the clan's Fortune recognized Wu as Martial Ancestor. 127 128

When Laozi later traveled among the humans in search of his opportunity to attain Sagehood, Wu recalled Martial Path cultivators at the True Immortal realm and above to the Ancestral Land. This preserved the clan's core cultivators against the possibility that outside teachings would shake their commitment to the Martial Path. 149

After relocating near the Houtu Tribe, the Human Clan enjoyed ten thousand years of peace. Wu used this stability to create Three Thousand Characters, establishing writing for humanity. The characters could record knowledge, experience, history, and civilization for future generations; the first character he wrote was “human.” 193 194

Hou Yi and Kuafu assisted this relocation. The resulting period of peace was the most stable since humanity's birth, providing the conditions for Wu to undertake the creation of writing. 191 193

Wu also promoted animal husbandry, cultivation of crops and mulberry trees, irrigation, and other survival practices. These measures reduced the clan's dependence on hunting and accelerated its development, though the Five Grains could not be created ahead of their destined time. 195

Frequent sparring with neighboring Wu Clan members strengthened human cultivators and honed the Martial Path through combat. As the population expanded, Suiren proposed relocating some tribes rather than remaining permanently dependent on Wu Clan protection. Wu also invited Suiren, Youchao, Ziyi, and Xuandu to jointly deduce the Martial Path's subsequent development, emphasizing that the path belonged to the entire Human Clan rather than to him alone. 195

Demon Race Slaughter and Preservation

During the conflict between the Demon Race and Immortal Court, Di Jun and Taiyi targeted the Human Clan's essence blood and souls to refine treasures capable of restraining Immortal Court cultivators. The Demon Race was ordered to slaughter humans beyond Wu Clan territory and attack those it could reach without openly provoking the Wu Clan. 211

The Human Clan suffered a major tribulation while retreating with its weaker members. Its Grand Unity Golden Immortals faced multiple Demon Gods at once, while ordinary warriors endured overwhelming numerical disadvantage. Zhou Ming prevented their complete extermination but deliberately allowed the Demon Race to serve as whetstones that tempered the Human Clan through battle. 217

At the tribulation's conclusion, Di Jun acknowledged the Demon Race's wrongdoing, offered compensation, and ordered its army to withdraw. Zhou Ming proclaimed that every human who had perished in the calamity could enter Reincarnation and return to the Human Clan. 218

The slaughter left a lasting effect on the tribes' willingness to expand beyond Wu Clan territory. Even after humanity became much stronger, many tribes remained reluctant to leave the protection under which they had recovered and prospered. 276 277

Independence and the Human Emperors

Before the Three Sovereigns' era, Zhou Ming ordered the Human Clan's Martial Path experts recalled to the Ancestral Land. The Ancestral Land became humanity's final foundation and guardian force, with entry and secluded cultivation reserved for sufficiently powerful or meritorious humans. 269

This recall also addressed Zhou Ming's concern that the Heavenly Dao might intensify humanity's hardships to test the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. Wu secured agreement that the reincarnated Fuxi would belong solely to the Human Clan rather than retain his former Demon Race identity, and requested that Sage schemes not harm innocent humans. 269

Fuxi rose from chieftain of the Fengyan Tribe to Co-lord of the Human Clan through capable and equitable governance. On Zhou Ming's advice, he led the entire race out of Wu Clan territory so that humanity could establish an independent governing power rather than remain under another clan's protection. 276 277

Zhou Ming described the Wu Clan's shelter and its enjoyment of Human Clan Fortune as an equal exchange, assuring Fuxi that humanity owed no debt that required it to remain. Many tribal leaders initially opposed migration out of fear of renewed danger, but the Ancestral Land publicly endorsed Fuxi's decision and ordered every tribe to cooperate. 276 277

With Wu Clan assistance, the migration succeeded. Fuxi founded Chen, the Human Clan's first city, appointed officials from multiple tribes, and became the first Human Emperor. Humans and Wu Clan members who carried mixed bloodlines, known as Witch-Humans, were permitted to remain in Wu Clan territory or migrate with humanity according to their own wishes. 277

The Ancestral Land was relocated to Huoyun Cave, bringing humanity's strongest reserve forces and foundational leadership into its sacred land. 277

During his ninety-thousand-year reign, Fuxi established human relations and marriage customs, deduced the Innate Eight Trigrams, and accepted the Dragon Clan as a Human Clan totem. Upon completing his merit, he recovered his memories, was crowned humanity's first Heavenly Emperor, and joined the Human Clan forefathers in suppressing Human Clan Fortune. 278

Shennong succeeded Fuxi and addressed disease and food security. He tasted herbs, completed Shennong's Compendium of Herbs, promoted farming, and established medicine across the human tribes. 280 284

Xuanyuan's early reign faced declining unity: many tribes withheld allegiance, while his effective authority initially extended chiefly over the Youxiong Tribe and its surrounding allies. The Jiuli Tribe emerged as a rival force under Chi You. 289

Xuanyuan later unified the divided Human Clan after defeating and suppressing Chi You. The tribal leaders acknowledged him as sole Human Emperor, ending the era of divided tribal rule. He subsequently spread the Immortal Scripture throughout the Human Clan, creating a widespread movement of Immortal cultivation. 304 306

Humanity Dao and Later Unity

The return of the Three Sovereigns brought about the emergence of the Humanity Dao. The Human Clan became its foundation, and the Kongtong Seal—connected to Human Clan Fortune—served as a crucial treasure in establishing a connection to the newborn Dao. 308

Zhou Ming connected the Kongtong Seal to the Humanity Dao's origin and entrusted it to the Human Clan rather than retaining control himself. The emergence of the Dao prompted the Saints to seek humanity's recognition and strengthen their sects' presence among the humans. 308 309

After the Five Emperors completed their governance, they joined the Three Sovereigns and Human Clan forefathers in Huoyun Cave to suppress Human Clan Fortune. The Human Clan's Nine Provinces became prosperous and abundant under their combined legacy. 311

During the later tribulation, Wu determined that the Human Clan could not avoid becoming central to the calamity. He reincarnated as Zi Shou and regained his identity as the Martial Ancestor upon becoming Human Emperor. He declared himself Human Emperor of the entire Human Clan rather than merely king of Great Shang. 363 380 409

The Saints' sects intended to use human dynasties as the battlefield for the Mystic Gate's Killing Tribulation. Primordial Lord Tianzun also planned to recruit exceptionally gifted humans at the onset of the tribulation and cultivate them as substitutes for his disciples' calamities. 363 372

Ten years after unifying the Human Clan, Wu passed the throne to Yin Jiao and returned to Huoyun Cave. He defined true unity as the removal of distinctions between Great Shang citizens and the peoples of the Four Barbarians, entrusting Yin Jiao with the further task of uniting the people's hearts. The resulting consolidation gathered Human Path Fortune and created the conditions for Hong Yun and the Martial Path to pursue Hunyuan. 556 557

Upon returning, Wu announced that his reincarnation and mortal trial had provided new Martial Path insights. He entered seclusion to deduce a realm capable of bearing the Hunyuan Fruit, while Hong Yun began preparing for his own attainment as humanity's Fortune gathered. 557

The distribution of Journey to the West merit later strengthened the Human Clan's foundation and made its Fortune Golden Dragon more solid. Its forefathers also viewed the eastward spread of Buddhist Dharma as an opportunity for human thought and culture to blend and contend with Western Teachings, potentially furthering the Humanity Dao. 646

Wu later attained the Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm and established Humanity's Great Dao. The barriers restricting the Martial Path shattered, allowing every human the potential to pursue the Dao through humanity's own path. 647
