Background

Origin and bloodline

The Wu Clan was born from Pangu's essence blood and inherited exceptionally powerful physical bodies. Its bloodline also carried Heaven-Opening Fiend Qi, which obstructed the birth of Primordial Spirits and inclined clan members toward irritability, bloodlust, impulsiveness, and combativeness 1 2.

Zhou Ming regarded the Fiend Qi as the central shackle on the clan's future. He sought to strengthen the Wu Clan without allowing its members to become warriors ruled solely by instinct and force 2.

Pangu placed Zhou Ming's soul and the refined System Core within Pangu Hall, a hall formed from his own heart, and bestowed a drop of his heart's essence blood upon him. Zhou Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu subsequently gestated together in blood cocoons. Pangu's lingering will regarded Zhou Ming as a possible variable capable of changing the Wu Clan's arduous destiny 1.

Early growth

Originally, the clan consisted only of Zhou Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu. At the Twelve's request, they used the blood pool within Pangu Hall—formed from Pangu's essence blood—to create new clansmen 12.

Zhou Ming transmitted an improved Nine Revolutions Fiend Quenching Art into the blood cocoons and used the Dao Origin Divine Pearl to assist their development. The first batch emerged with formidable bodies but no Primordial Spirits, revealing that their foundational limitation remained difficult to overcome 12.

While the Ancestral Wu cultivated Pangu's inheritance in seclusion, Zhou Ming's avatar, Wu Ming, managed clan affairs, developed outside ties, and guided the young race's growth 12. Over ten thousand years, the Wu Clan's settlements became orderly and disciplined; warriors refined their bodies, comprehended Laws, and practiced combat techniques rather than relying on raw strength alone 20.

Wu Ming's identity as Zhou Ming's avatar was later exposed during the Wu Clan's confrontation with Hongjun, revealing that Zhou Ming had directed the clan's external affairs while concealing his true existence 70.

Before the creation of ordinary clansmen, Zhou Ming had already helped the Twelve Ancestral Wu condense Primordial Spirits. He also organized their early travels to gather resources, Merit, and treasures while seeking Pangu's inheritance at Buzhou Mountain. The treasures they obtained were distributed according to each sibling's Law attributes and cultivation needs 8 9 10.

Under Wu Ming's direction, the clan's leaders attended Hongjun's sermons to compare his teachings with their own inheritance. They did not compete for the six disciple cushions, since those seats represented the Fortune of the Mystic Gate rather than the Wu Clan's path 13 14.

Formal establishment

Wu Ming concluded that the rising baleful intent of the Primordial World was both a danger and an opportunity. He proposed formally establishing the Wu Clan so it could earn Heaven and Earth's recognition, accumulate Fortune and Merit, and advance through the path of Proving Dao with Laws 23.

At the foot of Buzhou Mountain, hundreds of millions of warriors gathered beneath Pangu Hall. Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu swore that the clan would:

• Refine Heavenly Sha and restore clarity to the Primordial World.
• Sort out earth veins and harmonize the Five Elements.
• Stabilize heaven and earth.
• Protect the world opened by Pangu. 24

The Great Dao, Pangu's lingering will, and the Heavenly Dao recognized the oath. Merit Golden Light descended upon the Ancestral Wu and participating clansmen, formally establishing the Wu Clan as a great race of the Primordial World 24.

Following the establishment, Wu Clan warriors dispersed throughout the Primordial Continent to fulfill the oath by bearing and refining Sha, regulating damaged earth veins, and balancing the Five Elements 25.

The founding ceremony defined the clan's responsibilities and cultivation strategy rather than merely announcing a race that already existed. Although its warriors spread widely, their initial work had only a limited effect upon the vast Primordial Continent 23 25.

War with the Demon Race and Heavenly Dao

Although the Demon Race's expansion threatened the Wu Clan, Wu Ming refused to initiate a war merely to eliminate a rival. He regarded the Demon Race as a useful opponent through which the Wu Clan could demonstrate sufficient strength to deter other ambitious forces, while avoiding the Karma of conquest 60.

When the Demon Race finally attacked, both sides agreed to an array battle. Wu Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu summoned Pangu's True Body against the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Great Array, shocking the observing Great Powers. Wu Ming then drew upon the Taiji Diagram and Pangu Banner to enhance the Pangu Axe and break the enemy formation. Hongjun intervened to save Di Jun and Taiyi before Wu Ming could seize Taiyi's Chaos Bell 66 68.

Hongjun attempted to take Wu Ming to his palace for confinement and initially overpowered the formation led by the avatar. Wu Ming refused to surrender and called for assistance, leading to Zhou Ming's direct involvement 69 70.

When Hongjun and the Heavenly Dao moved against the clan, Zhou Ming and the Twelve Ancestral Wu activated the Thirteen Capital Heavenly God Evil Array and manifested Pangu's True Body. They defeated Hongjun's side and forced back the Heavenly Dao's will, greatly elevating the Wu Clan's prestige across the Primordial World 73.

Afterward, Zhou Ming warned against killing the future Heavenly Dao Saints because the resulting Karma could endanger the clan. He instead urged his siblings to cultivate toward Hunyuan, awaken Pangu's final bloodline inheritance, and maintain their connection with Pangu's lingering will at Buzhou Mountain 76.

Reserve Great Witches and external disputes

To ensure the clan could still deploy its ancestral formation during emergencies, Zhou Ming ordered the selection of thirteen elite Great Witches. Each of the thirteen Ancestral Wu would provide one drop of essence blood for a selected Great Witch to refine. The recipients agreed to remain within Pangu Hall for the long term until the Tribulation ended or the clan was no longer threatened 120 121.

The selected Great Witches included Xing Tian, Chi You, Kuafu, Hou Yi, Nine Phoenix, Wind Earl, and Rain Master. Xing Tian, acknowledged as possessing the strongest physical body and fiercest battle intent among the Great Witches, received Zhou Ming's essence blood and advanced to the Primordial Golden Immortal realm 121 122.

Hongjun later sought to weaken the Wu Clan by compelling Houtu to transform her true body into Reincarnation, thereby removing a member essential to its formation. The Wu Clan anticipated the scheme: Houtu proposed using her avatar, Calm Heart, while the Ancestral Wu openly rejected Hongjun's demand that she sacrifice her true body 176 180 181.

During the struggle over the Human Emperor, Chi You challenged Xuanyuan and came into conflict with the Clarify Sect's Twelve Golden Immortals. Yuanshi responded to the Wu Clan's support for Chi You by dispatching additional disciples and powerful treasures. Chi You also obtained covert help from fellow Great Witches, whose wind, rain, and fog abilities disrupted Xuanyuan's forces, and later retrieved an Innate Spiritual Treasure from the clan's treasury 291 294 301.

Later transcendence

The Wu Clan later entered the Heavenly Court to obtain its shared Fortune. In exchange for its support, the clan received half of the Heavenly Court's future Fortune and two positions among the Six Imperial Jade Masters 261 263. Houtu and Xing Tian received the positions, with Xing Tian leading the Wu Clan members stationed in the Heavenly Court 263.

The arrangement did not initially require the Wu Clan to administer the Heavenly Court directly. Zhou Ming preferred to leave government affairs to Haotian and Yaochi while the clan benefited from its Fortune. The Wu Clan's participation immediately improved recruitment and prevented the Western Teachings from carrying out their plan to gradually take control of the court 262 263 264.

Zhou Ming had begun creating a new world within the Dao Origin Divine Pearl much earlier, accompanied and protected by the Twelve Ancestral Wu in Chaos 122. He later restored former Demon Race and Immortal Court powers with the clan's support and assigned them to help develop that world. Under Di Jun's command, they used the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Great Array to refine Chaos Qi into innate spiritual qi, accelerating the world's evolution 348.

As the Primordial Continent faced destruction, Zhou Ming planned to use its fragments to strengthen the Pangu Realm into a complete world capable of bearing Pangu's will 397. During the Saints' escalating conflict, he assigned Houtu, Di Jiang, and Zhu Jiuyin to collect fragments while Zhu Rong and Gong Gong guarded Buzhou Mountain 535. After reaching the Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm, he used Pangu Hall to sever the Karma binding every clansman's True Spirit to the Primordial World 589.

The clan then migrated en masse into the Pangu Realm. Zhou Ming transported billions of clansmen and their land there, while Di Jiang, Houtu, and Zhu Jiuyin organized the settlement of the various tribes 590. Xing Tian remained behind temporarily to guard the Heavenly Court 590.

After ten thousand years in the Pangu Realm, Zhu Rong, Gong Gong, Xuan Ming, Qiang Liang, Shebishi, Tian Wu, Xi Zi, and Ru Shou completed their breakthroughs, leaving all thirteen Ancestral Wu as Hunyuan-level Primordial Daluo Golden Immortals 590.

Zhou Ming rejected an immediate attack upon Hongjun after these breakthroughs, requiring his siblings to stabilize their realms first. He intended to strike when Hongjun's plan to make the West prosper completed and strengthened the Heavenly Dao while also creating a vulnerability 590.

Catastrophe in Chaos

Before the final campaign, Haotian and Yaochi pledged themselves to the Wu Clan despite Zhou Ming's warning that even Hunyuan cultivators were not assured of surviving the coming Great Calamity. After erasing Hongjun's Divine Sense, Zhou Ming ordered them to gather the Heavenly Court's Celestial Officials at Great Unity Golden Immortal level and above, marking the court's official incorporation into the Wu Clan's faction 696 699.

Zhou Ming convened the Ancestral Wu and their allied Great Powers at Pangu Hall. He planned to lead his siblings into Chaos to slay the Heavenly Dao with their ancestral formation while the remaining allies confronted Luohu and the forces at the Demon Realm's entrance 700.

During the later struggle against the Heavenly Dao, the Wu Clan's forces fought at the forefront alongside other allied forces. Xing Tian led Great Witches and Wu Clan warriors in deploying the Blood Baleful Great Array at the entrance to the Demon Realm 703.

The Blood Baleful Great Array clashed with the Devil Race's Myriad Devils Great Array. Two Heavenly Dao Saints prevented Di Jun and East King Duke from supporting the Wu Clan, while Luohu recalled the Four Swords of Zhu Xian and broke the allied Immortal Execution Sword Formation 703.

After the Heavenly Dao fell, the Wu Clan army remained engaged with the Devil Race. Xing Tian invoked Zhou Ming's imminent return to deter the newly appearing enemy, but the threat failed 716.

Hongjun subsequently used an origin-depriving method to slaughter and absorb the origins of hundreds of millions of Wu Clan and Demon Clan members, restoring his own cultivation to its peak 718. Yang Mei immobilized the victims, leaving Xing Tian unable even to raise his axe. Xing Tian died proclaiming that Zhou Ming would avenge the clan; the massacre erased the warriors completely, leaving no remnant souls 718. Hongjun had also obtained thirteen drops of Ancestral Wu essence blood from Great Witches who had refined blood bestowed by Zhou Ming and the other Ancestral Wu 725.

Following the disaster, Zhou Ming led the surviving Ancestral Wu and allies through Chaos Turbulence. He released Pangu Hall from his body, allowing it to form a secure refuge amid Chaos for the survivors to recover 728.

Within the refuge, the Human Clan's Martial Ancestor Wu offered to merge his origin with Zhou Ming's to hasten Zhou Ming's breakthrough toward the Hunyuan Infinite Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm. Zhou Ming initially refused but ultimately accepted after Wu insisted upon sacrificing himself for the Human Clan's future 728.

Doctrine and culture

The Wu Clan's foundation is the cultivation of physical bodies and mastery of Laws. Its preferred paths are Proving Dao with Laws and Proving Dao with Strength, rather than relying on the Immortal Path's Slaying Three Corpses method 28.

Wu Ming explicitly rejects hegemony over the Primordial Wilderness. He considers the Dragon-Phoenix-Kirin Tribulation proof that struggles for supremacy invite catastrophic Karma and can destroy even the strongest race's future 28.

Reverence for Pangu forms an important part of clan identity. Zhou Ming advised his siblings to communicate regularly with Pangu's lingering will, both to show filial respect and to retain its support at critical moments. He also presented fair exchange, rather than taking others' possessions by force, as conduct befitting Pangu Orthodox 76 156.

The clan's internal loyalty extends beyond its leaders. The elite Great Witches willingly accepted prolonged confinement in Pangu Hall to safeguard the clan's reserve formation, declaring themselves prepared to face deadly dangers for their people 121.

Although outside cultivators described the Wu Clan as the foremost clan or effective overlord of the Primordial Wilderness, this reputation reflected its overwhelming strength and protective influence rather than an abandonment of its stated opposition to hegemony 28 190 263.
