Background

Xu Potian began as the Xu Family's outstanding young blade talent. Though the family was not among the five major families, he was regarded as its most exceptional successor in decades and dedicated himself to attaining Blade Sainthood 106.

He first encountered Xiao Chen during a Martial Hall arena challenge. Confident that his blade could defeat the apparently unremarkable opponent, Xu Potian overextended himself, failed to overcome Xiao Chen, and collapsed from exhaustion after his strike was blocked 106 107. Despite this humiliating beginning, he soon began calling Xiao Chen his brother and attached himself to him under the name of the “Blade and Sword Brothers” 123 147.

A passing expert later took Xu Potian to the Steel Saber Sect in Central Province. Secret-art empowerment and cultivation opportunities rapidly elevated his strength, while his association with the Blade Emperor eventually made him the emperor's disciple 308 717 738.

His loyalty to Xiao Chen is the defining part of his character. Xu Potian initially treats Xiao Chen as the stronger “older brother,” then later tries to reverse that dynamic after his own cultivation rises. Regardless of who is stronger, he considers their bond non-negotiable 310 719 758.
