Doctrine and Organization

The sect professes the principle of teaching without discrimination and describes its path as intercepting the one opportunity that escapes Heaven's forty-nine evolutions. Its inclusive recruitment produced a vast membership known as “Ten Thousand Immortals Bowing in Homage,” but also left it with many undisciplined disciples carrying demonic origins or karmic debts. 24 130 200 401

History

Ling Xiao's expulsion

Ling Xiao was accused of defying the sect, disrespecting the Saints, and endangering Interception's plans before the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation. Rather than accept expulsion, he invoked the Heavenly Dao, scattered his accumulated Heavenly Dao Merit, and severed his karmic ties with both the sect and Tongtian. 1 2

Ling Xiao had previously spent extensive time within the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation purifying the karmic slaughter accumulated by Interception's disciples. Once he left, the formation stirred again and the sect's fortune became entangled in killing karma, exposing how dependent the sect had been on his work. 4 5

The sect attempted to bring him back through Qiong Xiao, offering restored status and other concessions. Ling Xiao refused, while Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun openly rejected Interception's attempt to reclaim him. 5 6

Internal division and loss of restraint

After Ling Xiao's departure, Dingguang Immortal led an effort to destroy his former dwelling and erase his legacy from the sect. Qiong Xiao tried to stop the destruction, while Xingtian, Feng Bo, and the North Sea Black Tortoise denounced the sect for turning on the disciple who had aided it. 9

The status of Ling Xiao's Heavenly Rules divided the disciples. Yun Xiao argued that the rules had restrained the sect's worst members and improved its reputation, while Dingguang Immortal, Lu Ya, and the Golden-Winged Great Peng supported their removal. Tongtian ultimately left their handling to Duobao. 10

Xingtian, Feng Bo, and the North Sea Black Tortoise were condemned under the very rules Ling Xiao had created, but Pingxin intervened, rescued them, and severed their karmic ties with Interception. 10

Departure from Kunlun Mountain

Hostility between Interception and the Sect of Enlightenment escalated into a bloody clash on Kunlun Mountain after Lu Ya attacked Perfected Immortal Taiyi and Real Person Puxian. The conflict forced the Three Pure Ones to intervene. 22

The dispute permanently split the Three Pure Ones. Tongtian withdrew from Kunlun Mountain with his disciples and established the sect on Golden Turtle Island. 24

Conflict with Ling Xiao and the Heavenly Court

Led by Lu Ya, Zhao Gongming, Dingguang Immortal, and the Golden-Winged Great Peng, nearly a thousand Interception disciples attacked Penglai Immortal Island to seize it from Ling Xiao. Ling Xiao killed Dingguang Immortal's body, captured his Primordial Spirit and True Spirit, and punished numerous participating disciples. 25 26

The sect later exchanged the Qingping Sword to recover its captured disciples and resolve the immediate confrontation with Ling Xiao. 27 28

Interception's alliance with the Demon Court brought further losses. Its support for Lu Ya's restoration of the Demon Court prompted the Human Race to demand that Interception sever its ties as teachers of the Human Sovereigns and surrender the Kongtong Seal. 30 31

North Sea Burial Abyss conspiracy

The sect plotted to break the restrictive array sealing the Ferocious Beast Clan in the North Sea Burial Abyss, with Ghost Chariot and other disciples participating. Ling Xiao exposed the scheme by retracing events through the Time Law, placing Interception under pressure from the Heavenly Court and other sects. 271 275 281

The incident deepened internal dissatisfaction. Bai Ze became disillusioned when Tongtian and Nuwa hesitated to rescue Ghost Chariot and appeared willing to sacrifice implicated disciples to protect their own standing. 279

Defeat of Tongtian

When Tongtian moved against Ling Xiao, several major figures—including Laozi, Jieyin, Zhunti, Zhen Yuanzi, and Old Ancestor Styx—stood against the Sect of Interception. 393

Ling Xiao destroyed the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation and cracked Tongtian's Qiankun Cauldron. Tongtian was subsequently defeated, forced to apologize to Ling Xiao, and returned to Golden Ao Island with the sect's prestige badly diminished. 400 403

Nuwa later ended her involvement with Interception and demanded back the Qiankun Cauldron that had helped stabilize its fortune. 407

Investiture of the Gods War

During the Investiture of the Gods conflict, the sect's Celestial Lords deployed the Ten Ultimate Formations against Jiang Ziya and Western Qi. 420

Interception later moved Golden Ao Island and its associated immortal islands to Golden Chicken Ridge, preparing for a final confrontation with the Sect of Enlightenment and the Western Sect. 551

Daoist Duobao activated the Ten Thousand Immortals Sword Formation, with Kong Xuan and Yunxiao supporting its operation, as the Western Paradise descended to suppress the sect. 552
