Summoning the God of Death
The blood boiled even more, and the bubbling sound of boiling liquid could be heard throughout the entire Great Hall.
Even Tiffany's agonizing screams from beneath the bowl couldn't drown out the bubbling sound.
An eerie red light suddenly appeared, turning the entire Great Hall blood red.
Before long, the blood rising from the bowl gradually solidified into a phantom image with six wings.
"My lord."
Tom bowed respectfully.
"You have done very well, my faithful servant."
The voice of the phantom was intermittent, as if the signal was weak.
"However, one last step is needed to open the sealed gates of hell..."
"Please speak," Tom said, bowing slightly.
The phantom raised its hand, and a beam of red light shot out, striking Tom on the forehead.
"This is the magic circle you need to draw, Tom," the phantom said to him. "After the gates of hell open in the New World, you can begin collecting the items I need to break the seal my father placed on me."
"Yes, my lord," Tom replied.
Hogwarts, LeMay's Alchemy Workshop.
They have made ample preparations for today's summoning ceremony.
Mr. LeMay not only contributed precious materials to summon god of death, but also personally drew the magic circle.
Once everything was ready, Mr. LeMay nodded to those around him, while Dumbledore reached into a bowl, took some leaves, and sprinkled them in the center of the magic circle.
"Let's begin," said Dumbledore.
Mr. LeMay, holding the enormous book in his hands, began to recite the incantation needed to summon god of death.
Light gradually began to shine within the magic circle.
The light grew increasingly dazzling until finally, it burst into a powerful flash, forcing those present to instinctively reach out to block the intense light.
After a while, the light gradually faded.
"Did it work?" Newt asked, looking up.
He looked at the center of the magic circle, only to find it empty.
Not only were there no people, but even the chair originally prepared for god of death had disappeared.
Mr. LeMay lowered his head and looked at the book in his hand, carefully comparing the incantation with the one he had just recited. He initially thought something had gone wrong, but after careful comparison, he found no oversight.
"Is something wrong?" Dumbledore asked Mr. LeMay, turning to him.
Mr. LeMay frowned, glancing at Dumbledore and then at Newt.
Just then, Harry pushed the door open and entered.
"How did it go?" he asked. "Was the summoning successful?"
"It's obvious, Potter," Cassandra said, waving her hand dismissively. "We failed—"
"How could this be?" Harry put on his glasses. "Wasn't this method recorded in ancient books? Could there be some error in the book's description?"
"Perhaps, perhaps we can try other methods." Mr. LeMay put down the book and said to Harry, "But judging from the reaction of the summoning ritual just now, it doesn't seem like a failure. We should have summoned something, but it didn't stay in the magic circle."
"Revelio (The Revealing Charm)!"
Harry held out his wand, and the glow of the spell flashed across the small house, but he found nothing unusual.
"Perhaps the method is wrong." After a moment of contemplation, Mr. LeMay continued, "I feel like we've missed some crucial step, which is why our summoning failed... Wait, let me think carefully about how to complete the ritual..."
"So what do we need to do now?" Dumbledore asked.
"Oh, child," Mr. LeMay said to Dumbledore, using a form of address that was unacceptable to everyone present, "What you need to do now is leave here and go back to your own homes."
Child?!
Harry and Veratia exchanged a glance, both silently complaining to themselves.
However, to be fair, Dumbledore really was a child in front of Mr. LeMay.
After all, when Mr. LeMay was Dumbledore's age, the Eastern Roman Empire had not yet fallen, and Constantinople had not yet been breached by Orban's Cannon.
Since Mr. LeMay had already said so, everyone had no choice but to disperse.
"I'll head back to the Muggle world now," Veratia said to Harry. "If you hear anything, remember to message me."
"Sometimes I can't always find you either, since you have classes too," Harry said, shrugging.
Veratia suddenly remembered the new gadgets she had seen in the Muggle world, so she took them out of her bag and handed them to Mr. LeMay.
"Mr. LeMay," she said, holding up the long, black telephone, "This is a cell phone, a type of communication tool in the Muggle world. It allows for real-time communication across regions—you see, and its advantage is that it's very portable..."
The cell phone Veratia was holding was the Motorola 3200, which would later become a household name.
The model name might be unfamiliar to some, but it has a well-known and resounding name in China – Big Brother.
This phone was released in 1989, but its advantages and disadvantages are equally obvious.
Its advantages are obvious, and portability is its biggest advantage. In addition, it has a very hidden yet very obvious function, which is that when there is no suitable weapon, it can be used as a brick.
Mr. LeMay took the phone, looked it over, and then asked, "How do I use this?"
"Like this," Veratia said, taking out her own device and explaining to Mr. LeMay, "There's no signal at Hogwarts. If you want to use it, you can call my phone number and then use this to send messages in real time..."
"Oh, you mean this?"
Mr. LeMay said "Oh," and took out the Crystal Ball computer he had invented from the side.
"Here." He handed the Crystal Ball to Veratia, and then took out another one and presented it to Harry.
After the two received their respective Crystal Ball, Mr. LeMay said, "Now, place your hands on them and infuse them with your own magic."
Upon hearing Mr. LeMay's words, the two men immediately complied.
"Harry," Mr. LeMay said to Harry, "Hold the Crystal Ball and, as you channel your magic into it, think to yourself that you want to speak with Miss Grindelwald."
Harry nodded, holding the Crystal Ball and channeling Crystal Ball into it, his mind racing as he tried to communicate with Veratia.
The next second, a phantom image of Harry appeared on the Crystal Ball in Veratia's hand. The Harry grinned foolishly, with a very obvious scar on his head.
"That's another use for a computer, though it's not very portable—I know this Crystal Ball is a bit heavy," Mr. LeMay said with a chuckle. "But I've thought of this instant messaging function for a while now. So, Miss Grindelwald, you can tap Harry's head to accept the call—or you can think of it in your mind."
Veratia reached out and did as she was told, touching the scar on Harry's forehead.
Sure enough, the phantom image flickered and transformed into Harry holding the Crystal Ball.
"Oh dear, things have changed!" Harry exclaimed.
At the same time, Harry on Veratia's Crystal Ball exclaimed, "Oh dear, something's changed!"
"Look, I think the wizards' methods have their merits," Mr. LeMay said with a chuckle. "At least we no longer have to envy the Muggle ' methods, don't you think?"
"That's a good idea, but..." Veratia hesitated for a moment, "What if I'm in the Muggle world? For example, I'm in class at school, Harry suddenly sends a message. I can't exactly be holding the Crystal Ball..."
Mr. LeMay gave Veratia a helpless look.
He took small steps forward and tapped Veratia's Crystal Ball.
A miracle occurred: the Crystal Ball transformed into a telephone that looked exactly like Motorola 3200.
"And you're a wizard," Mr. LeMay said sarcastically. "Shouldn't we use wizarding methods to solve this? Like a Transfiguration— "
"You are right." Veratia readily accepted Mr. LeMay's criticism. She took the phone, held it, and silently wished to speak to Harry. Just as Harry had done before when she initiated a communication with him, her image appeared on Harry's Crystal Ball.
"Therefore, I think this multi-functional Crystal Ball deserves a high price." Mr. LeMay began discussing the pricing of the Crystal Ball. "I'm getting old, and you wouldn't want an old man spending time and energy customizing Crystal Ball for you young people, would you? So... if you want the Crystal Ball, you'll have to exchange it for rare alchemical materials..."
"You deserve it," everyone said.
Mr. LeMay was also in a difficult position. Even with his centuries-old collection, it couldn't withstand the recent Astronomy consumption. If it wasn't replenished soon, his collection might be used up in just a few days.
He now regrets it a little; if he had known, he wouldn't have given away all those treasures one by one when he faked his death.
"I have no use for those alchemical materials," Newt said first. "So... I'd like to return them to you, Mr. LeMay, in exchange for three Crystal Ball ... oh, six."
"What do you need six for?" Mr. LeMay asked curiously.
"You see," Newt said, "Besides Tina and me, Theseus also needs a Crystal Ball. He's over in Nurmengard watching Grindelwald and needs to chat with him sometimes... Aunt Pabbie needs one too, and Queenie and Jacob, and good heavens, the last time I saw Jacob, he was so old, but still so energetic..."
"He's certainly in high spirits." Mr. LeMay gave Newt a meaningful smile. "In that case..."
Mr. LeMay trotted to the side, picked up his wand, and pulled out a small box containing six Crystal Ball.
"Here, this is your Crystal Ball. As for how to use it, I think you should remember it. But I need to remind you that Jacob is a Muggle. He can't activate the wizard version of the Crystal Ball. I made one that even Muggle can use. The one inside is slightly larger."
"Thank you, Mr. LeMay," Newt said gratefully.
"You don't need to look at me, Mr. LeMay," Veratia said to Mr. LeMay in advance. "My treasury has been emptied by Gale. Now, all that's left is my Diadem. As for Galleon and all the alchemical materials, he's already taken them all..."
"Oh, don't worry about that," Mr. LeMay said with a smile. "You, Harry... and Miss Malfoy, all three of you are free..."
Harry was somewhat puzzled as to why Mr. LeMay wasn't charging him any fees.
Of course, he could never have imagined that, in Mr. LeMay's view, the amusement the three of them provided for the Flamel couple was far more precious than any treasure.
Since meeting them, Mr. LeMay has felt that life has become much more enjoyable.
Just then, a bright flash of light suddenly appeared in Mr. LeMay's Alchemy Room.
Then, the whole room began to shake.
"Watch out!" Veratia shouted, reaching for her wand, ready to engage in battle at any moment.
Harry, too, looked around warily, trying to figure out what was going on.
The Alchemy Room continued to shake, and the magical lights hanging from the ceiling swayed back and forth in response.
A powerful magical fluctuation suddenly appeared and spread throughout the entire Alchemy Room.
Then, the wave suddenly spread outwards, sweeping in all directions.
The Forbidden Forest was closest to Mr. LeMay's Alchemy Room, and it was the first part of the Forbidden Forest to be affected by the magical impact, collapsing in unison in the direction of the shockwave.
In an instant, all the trees in the Forbidden Forest, including the Whomping Willow on the outer edge of the Forbidden Forest, lost their leaves.
Within seconds, the entire forest became as desolate as in the dead of winter, with only withered branches and bare tree trunks remaining.
Those inside the Alchemy Room did not see the Forbidden Forest; they had only just recovered from the shock of the magical power.
Harry suddenly had a flash of inspiration.
"Could it be god of death?" he asked.
Hearing Harry's words, everyone's heart skipped a beat.
Besides god of death, who else could possess such terrifying and powerful magic?
"Perhaps she has already arrived," Dumbledore said. "In that little hut just now, I had a... a premonition, I was quite sure she was in there."
"Let's go take a look," Harry suggested. "Since we've already summoned her, we should at least meet her; otherwise, it would be impolite."
"I hope you realize the danger, poor little Potter." Cassandra spread her hands. "Are you going to let your foolish courage send you traveling back another hundred years?"
"If there is danger, no matter how we try to escape, we cannot get away."
After Harry finished speaking, he took the lead and walked towards the room with the spell to summon god of death.
"He makes a good point." Dumbledore raised an eyebrow and followed Harry into the small room.
