History

Departure from the Marines

Dragon was formerly a Marine and the son of the Marine Hero Garp. After embracing revolutionary ideals, he deserted the Marines and set out to pursue a path opposed to the World Government. Yaen’s ideas and persuasion were instrumental in shaping his resolve. 16 475

He and Teffimoe Yaen founded the Revolutionary Army together. While Dragon became its public leader, Yaen served as its Chief of Staff and strategic planner. 16 630

Building the Revolutionary Army

In its early years, Dragon was constantly pursued by the World Government and had little capacity to expand the organization beyond gathering like-minded companions. At Yaen’s proposal, he committed scarce Revolutionary Army forces to developing the North Blue as the organization’s birthplace and testing ground. 56 61

Dragon supported the relocation of Flevance’s population, though Yaen had to explain the strategic value of gaining an entire nation’s worth of future talent and supporters. Dragon subsequently agreed to provide fighters and medical personnel despite the organization’s financial strain. 75

Dragon backed the rescue of slaves fleeing Mary Geoise, agreeing with Yaen that the operation served both the Revolutionary Army’s ideals and its need to oppose the World Government. 172

During the Skypiea operation, he confronted Enel directly. His Haki-enabled wind-based strike bypassed Enel’s Logia intangibility, and Dragon later chose to reform the defeated Enel rather than execute him. 292 299
