Background / History

Before becoming a Demon God, Othinus was a mage who traveled the Nine Worlds. She sacrificed an eye to the Fountain of Wisdom, gained supreme wisdom, and pursued magic to its extreme. As Odin, she ruled the Nine Worlds and became a Demon God. 628 692

After attaining Demon God power, Othinus repeatedly reshaped reality in search of an ideal world. Her attempts ultimately erased the homeland she sought to restore; unable to recreate the original Nine Worlds, she was left in a void and abandoned her Demon God power in despair. Her isolation from both mortals and the other Demon Gods made her long for someone who could genuinely understand her. 466 692

Appearance

Othinus is a petite, strikingly beautiful blonde girl with an otherworldly, sculpted appearance. Her visible emerald-green eye is described as carrying immense wisdom, while a black eyepatch covers her right eye. 437 695

  • Soft golden hair, compared to golden sand or ears of rice. 625
  • A single visible emerald-like eye; the missing eye was sacrificed for wisdom. 626 628
  • Usually wears a witch’s hat, dark fur or leather clothing, and an eyepatch. 695 707
  • Her eccentric attire and hat make her conspicuous even in Academy City. 707
  • Maintains a cold, expressionless demeanor around most people, but becomes visibly shy or warm around Roy. 385 437

Personality

Othinus is proud, willful, and fundamentally detached from human life. As a Demon God, she considers ordinary people beneath her concern and can destroy or remake worlds without guilt. She initially sees humans as too insignificant to be enemies, treating opposition as futile unless it involves another being on her level. 356 436 628

Her indifference is sharply contrasted by her attachment to Roy. The endless cycles between them make each recognize the other as an Understander—the one person who can see through the other’s desires, fears, and convictions. Othinus eventually abandons her pride to seek atonement and companionship rather than returning to solitude. 361 362

Although outwardly haughty and quick to deny embarrassment, she is protective, jealous, and unexpectedly affectionate toward Roy. She prefers their spiritual connection and shared pursuit over simple romance, regarding their mutual understanding as the foundation of their bond. 454 625 698

Abilities & Skills

Demon God Power

Othinus possesses power sufficient to destroy, remake, and overlay worlds through Phases.

  • Can casually destroy a universe and reconstruct reality. 356 484
  • Resurrects the dead and alters the fates of living beings after returning to full power. 484
  • Can control life and death within the Norse Otherworld. 633
  • Her will can alter identities and fate; declaring Roy to be “Frigga” causes the Norse Otherworld’s history and memories to accommodate that role. 625
  • Her complete magnitude can exceed a world’s capacity, potentially causing its collapse merely by entering it. 497

Phase Manipulation

At full strength, Othinus can manipulate the Phases that define reality.

  • Creates worlds based on her own will or Roy’s memories. 358
  • Can alter physical laws, fate, concepts, and the structure of reality. 494 625
  • Uses Phase-based methods to neutralize threats whose thoughts or hostility could otherwise oppose her. 785
  • Loses practical Phase manipulation while in her incomplete “fifty-fifty” state. 436

Lord of the Gods' Spear

The Lord of the Gods' Spear is Othinus’s primary divine weapon and the regulator of her Demon God power.

  • Functions as Spirit Armor, allowing her to perfectly stabilize and wield Demon God power. 357
  • Is necessary for her to escape the 50% success rate of her incomplete state. 360
  • Was destroyed by Roy during their conflict, then later reforged through Gremlin’s plans. 360 385 484
  • Can unleash attacks potent enough to pierce dimensions, spacetime, and fragments of worlds. 494

Regeneration and Immortality

Othinus’s body rapidly restores itself from injuries that would be fatal to humans.

  • Restores a crushed hand almost instantly. 356
  • Survives being pierced through the body by numerous spears; the wounds vanish in a fraction of a second. 716
  • In her complete state, is regarded as truly immortal; self-division may compromise that security. 689

Wisdom and Formula Construction

As Odin and a Demon God, Othinus possesses extraordinary magical knowledge and analytical ability.

  • Instantly understands Academy City’s scientific systems and recognizes superpowers as another form of magic. 434
  • Perceives the structure, laws, and artificial traces of unfamiliar worlds. 496 499
  • Created a highly complex self-division formula capable of endlessly dividing her existence. 499
  • Cannot automatically understand matters beyond the inherent limits of Demon God knowledge, including the full nature of Roy’s right hand. 356 496

Ten Crossbow Bolts

Othinus can manifest ten crossbow bolts as wing-like patterns behind her.

  • The bolts form an ultimate weapon unique to Othinus rather than a recorded Norse artifact. 494
  • A single bolt can pierce through dimensions and spacetime; subsequent shots multiply into a vast barrage. 494
  • Uses the bolts as precision attacks against Yog-Sothoth’s escape routes and manifestations. 689 690

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Lord of the Gods' Spear — Divine spear and regulator for her complete Demon God power. 357 360
  • Witch’s hat — Her usual headwear; she is notably attached to it even while mentally exhausted. 360 361
  • Eyepatch — Covers the right eye sacrificed to the Fountain of Wisdom. 626 695
  • Ten Crossbow Bolts — Her unique manifested weapon system, appearing as wings in combat. 494

Relationships

  • Roy Crowley — Her Understander, closest companion, and romantic partner. Their conflict across countless loops becomes mutual understanding; Othinus vows to atone by protecting and aiding him. 361 362 698
  • Gremlin — Othinus founded and leads the organization to gather resources for reforging the Lord of the Gods' Spear. She treats most members as expendable tools rather than companions. 363 385
  • Lilith CrowleyRoy’s sister. Lilith fears and distrusts Othinus, but Othinus promises to resolve Lilith’s condition once her power is restored. 436 699
  • Aiwass — A rival for Roy’s attention. Othinus destroys one of Aiwass’s clones after detecting concealed intentions toward Roy; their later interactions remain openly hostile and provocative. 362 496
  • Athena — A fellow goddess who recognizes Othinus’s superiority as a Demon God. They initially clash over status and mythology but later travel with Roy across worlds. 496 499
  • Skadi — Rules the Norse Lostbelt until submitting to Othinus as the true Odin. Othinus becomes irritated by Skadi’s attempts to restore the Aesir through Roy and herself. 501 625
  • Nephthys — Cooperates with Othinus by attaching half of herself as an auxiliary formula, greatly amplifying Othinus’s combat power against Nyarlathotep. 782
  • Aururs — An opponent who tries to prevent her return to complete Demon God status; Othinus dismisses his resistance as irrelevant. 459

Story Role / Major Arcs

Endless Loop Conflict

Othinus encounters Roy in Denmark and repeatedly destroys the universe to force a resolution. Roy’s Eternal Return traps them in countless cycles, allowing him to study Demon Gods while exhausting Othinus’s finite spirit. 356 357 359

Roy ultimately destroys the Lord of the Gods' Spear, returning Othinus to her unstable “fifty-fifty” condition. Rather than pursuing revenge, she admits her responsibility for killing him countless times and offers to atone. 360 361

Gremlin and the Spear Reforging

Othinus joins Roy in establishing their shared plans, using Gremlin to gather magic, science, war, and other resources needed to reforge the Lord of the Gods' Spear. She publicly acts as Gremlin’s cold leader while treating Roy as her sole priority. 362 385 454

After regaining full power, she escalates from direct destruction to manipulating humanity’s fates, resurrecting the dead and repeatedly remaking the world. 484

Conflict with the Demon Gods

Othinus destroys the hidden world where the secluded Demon Gods reside, exposing their auras to the Material World and creating a crisis to buy Roy time. She does so without concern for the consequences, motivated by her determination to protect him. 490

When confronted by other Demon Gods, she deploys the Lord of the Gods' Spear and her ten crossbow bolts against their combined attacks. 494

Otherworld and Lostbelt Travels

After crossing worlds with Roy, Othinus observes and analyzes unfamiliar realities, replaces the Moon World’s Odin, and takes control of the Norse Lostbelt. She kills Surtur, ending his control over the giants and changing the Lostbelt’s environment. 499 501

She later massacres Chaldea’s forces after they intrude into her domain despite warnings, regarding their attempt to challenge a Demon God as arrogance deserving punishment. 632 633

Yog-Sothoth Conflict

Othinus assists Roy against Yog-Sothoth, using her arrows to eliminate its routes of escape. The encounter forces her to confront her lingering terror of the empty void that remained after the destruction of her original Nine Worlds. Roy’s presence reassures her that she will no longer face that loneliness alone. 690 692

Later Activities

Othinus continues accompanying and guarding Roy while pursuing new worlds and unknown phenomena. She also spends time with him in Academy City, where their interactions become openly affectionate despite her attempts to maintain an aloof façade. 698 708 785
