Background / History

Marisbury Animusphere promoted Chaldea to Roy Crowley as a project to protect Humanity's Order. In exchange for Holy Church support, the Animusphere family would retain only administrative authority while granting the Church supervisory and judicial power over the institution. 273

Construction began on Antarctica's highest peak with support from officials of 720 nations. The project combined infrastructure supplied by Eastern nations, Animusphere funding, globally sourced conventional technology, and a promised next-generation Spiritron Calculation Machine from the Atlas Institute. An Animusphere-controlled company later secured a Middle Eastern oil field, resolving Chaldea's immense funding needs. 320 343

By the time of its completion, Chaldea possessed its central systems—Chaldeas, the Guardian Spirit Summoning System Fate, and the Near Future Observation Mirror Sheba. It then recruited Masters and technical personnel for its first Spiritual Transfer experiment. 519 531

The inaugural experiment was sabotaged by Lev Lainur/Phalorous, whose explosives devastated the main control room. Chaldea's emergency systems contained the fire and preserved most surviving personnel, though it suffered severe losses. 537 538

After Humanity Annihilation began, Chaldea survived because its defenses allowed it to detach from the present world and exist in a quantum state similar to Imaginary Space. Once its infrastructure, Chaldeas, summoning system, and observation mirror were completed, it gathered Masters for the first Spiritual Transfer experiment. Lev's sabotage turned the activation into a disaster, but the organization itself endured. 519 537 538

Humanity Annihilation and Lostbelt Operations

As the outside world collapsed, Chaldea's isolation preserved it as a surviving operational base. Its Masters deployed through Spiritual Transfer to confront Singularities and Lostbelts, while the headquarters provided observation, communications, logistical direction, and summoning support. 542 545

Chaldea's personnel gradually became a tightly bonded group through repeated campaigns, though its successes also fostered dangerous overconfidence before the Norse Otherworld operation. 633 666

Revelation of Chaldeas

Kirschtaria and Roy exposed that Chaldea was not merely an observer of Humanity's Order. Chaldeas functioned as a self-calculating Fantasy Tree-like entity, making Chaldea itself an anomaly absent from other parallel worlds. 597 598

The revelation established that Chaldea's continued operation had contributed to the conditions enabling the Alien God's birth. Its members were forced to confront that their mission to save humanity had also aided the Final Beast's creation. 600 610

Destruction of Headquarters and Continued Journey

Russian Lostbelt forces attacked Chaldea after the Greek Lostbelt campaign. Personnel were captured or escaped aboard Chaldea's armored vehicle, while Chaldeas was frozen and the headquarters was destroyed. 600 610

Despite losing its original base, Chaldea continued operating through surviving personnel, mobile resources, and a backup Spiritron Computer. Roy later told its members that Chaldea had not perished so long as they remained alive. 610 612

Recognition After the Restoration of Humanity's Order

Following the restoration of Humanity's Order, the Clock Tower held a Grand Order resolution to evaluate Chaldea's account. Confirmation from Hermes Trismegistus and the Wandering Sea established that Humanity's Order had indeed collapsed. 694

Chaldea received formal recognition for saving Humanity's Order, though no material reward beyond acknowledgment was granted. Its continued research received support, and Olga Marie assigned its future work to El-Melloi II. 694
