Background

Selari is Talot's childhood friend and a Saiyan survivor. She watches Talot's early fight with Raditz, openly disliking Raditz's arrogance and bullying toward him 11.

Bardock trains Selari alongside Talot before their mission. Determined to prove herself, she asks to accompany Talot to Planet Rump; instead, she later leaves Planet Vegeta with Talot and Gine aboard a spaceship bound for Aoyun Planet 15 23. During the journey, Talot teaches her ki cultivation after removing the ship's surveillance and safety threats 26 27.

On Earth, Selari joins Talot and Gine's gravity training, refusing to fall behind despite Talot's much faster development 60 61. Talot later brings her on his journey to Namek, citing both her determination and his trust in her ability 72.

The Grand Elder unlocks her potential on Namek, after which she continues training across Namek, Yardrat, North Kai Planet, and Grand Kai Planet 76 79 95 123. Her prolonged training culminates in her becoming the first female Saiyan of her era to transform into a Super Saiyan 123.

Selari later marries Talot after becoming pregnant, pausing her training for prenatal care 157. After Tarola's birth, she takes two years away from training before returning to combat and restoring her strength 203. Years later, she worries over Talot's return from his travels through time-space and remains present with their children, Tarola and Taros 376 377.

Selari is proud, competitive, and intensely determined. She dislikes being underestimated, particularly because she is a female Saiyan and a Low-Class Warrior; achieving Super Saiyan becomes proof that her sex and birth status do not define her worth 123.

She is deeply loyal to Talot and consistently chooses to remain at his side, whether departing Planet Vegeta, travelling to Namek, or continuing into later interstellar training 23 72 74. Her protectiveness can become possessive: she reacts hostilely when Bulma approaches Talot, though Talot prevents the situation from escalating 49.

Unlike most Saiyans, Selari develops sympathy for weaker people under Talot's influence. Upon seeing the Sartians enslaved by Amondo's gang, she calls them pitiful rather than treating their suffering as normal 81. She is also capable of restraint, ultimately allowing Jaco to take Amondo alive for imprisonment 81.

Her pride does not prevent self-awareness. When Raditz's Super Saiyan 2 strength proves decisively beyond her own, she forfeits rather than continuing a futile fight 205.
