Background
Freya was born Alicia Everton, daughter of the renowned knight Everton. To escape the political purge against the Royalist Faction during Obergu VI’s reign, she was hidden in Bucci and raised by adoptive relatives, believing for much of her life that her parents had died to the undead. Her father’s identity and her true lineage were later disclosed to her by Oufwell and Princess Griffine. 6 1268 1269
Her mother had fled Silver Bay with refugees and possessed half Mountain Folk blood. She met Everton after he rescued her group from bandits, and the two married soon afterward. Freya retains little more than a moonstone necklace from her mother and has considered seeking information from her mother’s family in Fanon. 1269 1270
Before the fall of Bucci, Freya served as captain of a local militia squad. She rescued the gravely wounded Sophie/Brando from the forest, though she was still inexperienced with warfare and frightened by death. 6
Appearance
Freya is a young woman with light-brown hair and bright brown eyes. During her time in Bucci, she wore her long hair in a ponytail and carried herself with an energetic, spirited expression. 6 117
- Initially wore close-fitting gray-white leather armor, a cotton shirt, and Bucci’s black-pine-leaf militia armband. 6
- Carried a longsword bearing the flame emblem of the Temple of Flames. 6
- Later wore the Empress of Wind Half-Plate, whose Feather of Wind rune manifests as an azure glow when struck. 18 28
- Her Valkyrie Mark appears as a radiant five-flamed silver rune across her forehead. 454 1269
- Cut her ponytail to shoulder length after the Battle of Ambersell, placing the severed hair upon the graves of fallen comrades. 1261
- As an established knight, wears a dark-blue uniform, white riding trousers, the Black Pine Medal, Candlelight Medal, and eagle feathers marking her service with the White Lion Legion. 1261
Personality
Freya began as a simple but stubborn country girl whose resolve often concealed fear and vulnerability. She was initially afraid of watching others die, inexperienced in battle, and prone to losing confidence when confronted by more naturally talented knights. 6 257 454
Her defining trait is persistence. Rather than relying on exceptional natural talent, Freya trains diligently, takes responsibility for her decisions, and continues acting even when terrified or injured. Her seriousness, honesty, and willingness to share danger earn loyalty from soldiers and mercenaries alike. 63 750 820 828
As her experience grows, Freya becomes more politically aware and self-possessed. Even after a major victory at Winomar, she recognizes that battlefield success does not resolve Eluin’s wider problems. 91 1246 1247
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Freya is a trained knight and swordswoman who adapts techniques learned from Brando to her own style.
- Uses an improved form of Eluin Battle Formation Swordsmanship. 258
- Defeated a Silver-intermediate opponent while at Black Iron-intermediate by employing a desperate, improvised technique. 258

Valkyrie Mark
Freya bears the Valkyrie Mark, an inheritance associated with the War Goddess and passed through female bloodlines. 1269
- Appeared during an academy tournament alongside the arrival of the Lionheart Sword. 454
- Manifests as a luminous mark on her forehead and can produce massive wings of light. 662 752
- Grants flight and dramatically amplifies her combat power while active. 662 752

Command & Cavalry Tactics
Freya develops into a capable field commander, particularly in cavalry operations.
- Won the loyalty of Ridenburg mercenaries by personally leading the dangerous raid to seize horses from the nobles’ market. 59 63
- Ordered the assault on Bu’no’an Citadel after quickly assessing the terrain. 589

- Led the Valkyries to a decisive victory over undead forces at Winomar. 1246
War Valkyrie Armament Projection
Freya inherits knowledge linked to the War Valkyries and the guards of the War Goddess. 936

- The summoned saber has a curved, segmented, crystal-like blade formed from condensed light. 936
- Her inherited memories include combat techniques and knowledge of monsters. 936

- Used a recovered Spatial Anchor Device to disrupt Krais’s teleportation through the Black Sphere portal. 1461

Story Role / Major Arcs
Bucci and Ridenburg
Freya begins as Bucci’s militia captain and helps rescue Brando after his near-fatal encounter in the forest. The destruction of her village and the loss of her aunt force her to confront war’s human cost. 6 17 18
In Ridenburg, she seeks information about Hood, learns to judge people more carefully, and gathers seventeen mercenaries to escape the city. Her successful horse-market raid establishes her authority among them. 46 57 59 63
Royal Knight Academy
At Brando’s urging, Freya enters the Royal Knight Academy to grow strong enough to protect others and support Princess Griffine. 91 117
Despite beginning as one of the less remarkable cadets, she persists through the Champion Tournament. Her improvised swordsmanship earns Nemesis’s interest, and the Lionheart Sword’s appearance reveals her Valkyrie Mark to the academy. 258 454
White Lion Legion and Eluin’s Valkyrie
The Lionheart Sword’s recognition and Freya’s service beside the White Lion Legion establish her as a candidate for major command. Nemesis and Brando both support her succession to Marquis Barta’s position. 551 619
During the war around Bu’no’an Citadel, Freya commands troops in direct assaults and proposes a high-risk counterattack intended to preserve Eluin’s remaining hope. 589 613
Dead Frost Forest
Pursued by Pale Children and a silver humanoid monster targeting her War Goddess bloodline, Freya assumes full responsibility for the Broken Sword Knight Order’s survival. 729 750
She uses her banner, riding skills, Valkyrie Mark, Fireball magic, explosive crystals, and an avalanche to defeat the silver monster at immense personal risk. 751 752 753
Afterward, Milos’s lingering echo asks her to prevent the Frost Giant’s resurrection, placing Freya within a conflict tied to gods, ancient history, and Vonder’s destiny. 759 764
Later Wars
Freya leads the Valkyries to victory against undead forces at Winomar, though she remains concerned about the political consequences for Eluin and Brando’s fate. 1246
During the conflict with Krais, she retrieves and activates the Spatial Anchor Device from Count Odin’s wrecked flagship, helping stop the enemy’s teleportation before the Underworld collapses. 1461
Notable Quotes
“Brando! Look at me, I did it!” 820
“I can guarantee that it’s still perfectly intact, even the machine lock is complete.” 1461
Trivia
- Freya’s title of Valkyrie was not originally bestowed by Eluin; enemies in Cruz, Saint Osore, and Madara used it in recognition of her power and battlefield presence. 662
- Her greatest strength is portrayed as perseverance rather than innate genius: she entered the Royal Knight Academy at the lowest ranking and rose through sustained effort. 828
