Power Progression

Background / History

Five hundred years before the main story, the Xia Clan stood at the height of its prosperity. It possessed over a thousand Half-step Kings, ten King Old Ancestors, and the power of a fourth-rank major clan. The Charm Clan infiltrated its territory through the Gu Xin Sect, corrupting gifted Xia members and using their souls as food. The Xia Clan exposed the conspiracy by activating the Map of Mountains and Rivers, but the resulting war devastated both sides. 22

The victory over the Charm Clan left the Xia Clan vulnerable. Four King Old Ancestors died, three suffered severe injuries, and an unknown number of Half-step Kings fell. The Tiger Clan united neighboring races to seize the Xia Clan's fertile lands and treasure grounds, forcing the survivors into their later resource-poor territory. 22

To preserve its lineage, the Xia Clan concealed its strongest younger generation within a Martial Arts Sacred Land and Secret Realm. The clan deliberately allowed its public strength to appear diminished, since the Tiger Clan watched closely for any sign of recovery. A wounded peak King Old Ancestor's lingering aura deterred outright extermination, but a visible resurgence could have provoked another invasion. 41

Resurgence

When Xia Yuan and Meng Yi disappeared from Dawn Sacred Land, the Xia Clan expected a final war with the Tiger and Charm Clans. The Sacred Land opened its gates, releasing hidden experts and allowing its returning geniuses to settle old grudges before the anticipated conflict. 50

Instead, the Xia Clan expanded for years without meaningful resistance from either traditional enemy. Its Old Ancestors halted further campaigns after clearing surrounding hostile clans, choosing to consolidate territory, gather resources, and investigate the mysterious Giant Net that repeatedly protected Xia members. 57

The Charm Clan eventually launched a full-scale invasion. The Xia Clan mobilized several hundred thousand martial artists above Innate Seventh Level, intercepted the enemy before it reached their territory, and used Riverbed Heavy Ballistas to inflict heavy opening losses. Its King-realm experts then fought while Meng Yi carried the injured Xia Yuan as both a formation anchor and deterrent. 69 71

Zhao Yuling, Little Turtle, and the giant snakes raised by Little Gold turned the battle decisively in the Xia Clan's favor. The Xia Clan killed and captured numerous Charm Kings, while the remaining Charm forces retreated after learning that their Supreme had vanished within Xia territory. 72 73

Territory and Governance

• Dawn Sacred Land — A hidden Xia Clan martial arts sanctuary within the Watcher Secret Realm. It sheltered the clan's concealed prodigies and veteran experts during its long decline. 41 50
• Lin Commandery and Lin City — The Xia Clan's central region during its revival; its improving fortune and cultivation environment produced generations of exceptional descendants. 91 236
• White-robed Empress Palace — An academy founded by Zhao Yuling to cultivate disciples, protect the Xia Clan, and expand its influence. 39
• Chu Bridge — A major crossing between the Xia Clan's lands and the outside world, eventually becoming a densely populated trade route filled with martial artists. 155 168

• Riverbed Heavy Ballistas served as powerful but slow-to-operate border weapons. They devastated weaker Charm forces in an ambush, though high-level Innates could resist them. 71

• Xia Yuan — Long-serving Old Ancestor and former strongest expert; his survival deterred the Tiger Clan during the Xia Clan's decline. He later recovered and advanced to the Emperor Venerable Realm. 41 236

The Xia Clan's rise continued beyond the Barbarian Domain. Its members explored the East Cang Domain, developed Secret Realms, and established themselves in Liangchuan alongside the wider Human Clan. Despite its unprecedented growth, the clan recognized that even minor East Cang clans possessed strength far beyond the Barbarian Domain's former foreign races. 155 165

During the merging of drifting domains, the Xia Clan refused evacuation and returned its scattered members to its original territory, trusting the resilience built through repeated disasters. 196

By the later era, Xia Yuan observed that the Xia Clan had changed beyond recognition: former foundational experts had become juniors, later generations possessed astonishing aptitude, and the clan's prosperity appeared inseparable from the broader rise of the Human Clan. 403
